[edit]Limitations on the usefulness of comparative BMI data "Main article: Body mass index § Limitations There are significant limitations to the usefulness of comparative BMI data cited by both the medical community and statisticians.[1] BMI data has significant weaknesses in terms of scalability and in accounting for variations in physical characteristics." This section does not belong in this article. It is not relevant and the citation is garbage: It is an article citing another article from the same website that cites a press release that cites a study performed in regards to potential employment policy decisions being considered by the US EEOC. Regardless, the methodology is explained and the main article on BMI is linked, which contains extensive criticism of BMI. Placing this section in this article is redundant, and serves no purpose other than POV-pushing. It should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.20.132.116 (talk) 17:46, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Source for table in section "WHO Data on Mean BMI (2014)"
[edit]Numbers in the table WHO Data on Mean BMI (2014) don't match the referenced report The table references the report "Global status report on noncommunicable diseases 2014" as a source. I was able to find this report at [1] and a BMI table is available on page 220. However, the numbers in that table don't match the numbers in table here (WHO Data on Mean BMI (2014)). Please clarify where the numbers in the wikipedia table came from. Thank you! 82.6.86.58 (talk) 11:31, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

Why is Mexico in there twice?

Table data probably needs to be redone
[edit]As mentioned above, Mexico is in the table twice and so is New Zealand. There are probably other problems as well; the whole table should probably be redone to reach a "known-good" state.
It seems like this page is also prone to vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:268:C143:8A01:3D7A:D4F:39D0:9A01 (talk) 14:47, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

This data doesn't match the source
[edit]> United States 1 38.3 1 39.6 1 32.1
Overall should be about halfway between male and female figures. This is not even close to that.
So I checked the listed [source](https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/handle/10665/148114/9789241564854_eng.pdf;jsessionid=0FB8320694B39AF27D0B774DC61729A4?sequence=1) and it lists completely different numbers:
> United States of America AMR 28.5 [28.2–28.9] 28.5 [28.1–28.9] 28.5 [28.2–28.8]
Could someone please fix? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C4:7F14:2000:303E:8ED7:2C08:DDFC (talk) 12:28, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
US female rank looks wrong
[edit]1.4 doesn't make sense or match the BMI numbers
-KaJunl (talk) 12:43, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- I saw that too. Since the female BMI means are the same in the U.S. and Turkey, I listed it for the same number. And you're right, it seems like there was some vandalism about a week ago in this revision (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_countries_by_body_mass_index&diff=prev&oldid=971863729). There seem to be many issues with the ranking numbers. And I just realized that they probably all need to be renumbered now, and everything after the U.S. bumped up a digit. Fantastic.

Do we have any updated data? 2014 is ten years ago already.I've found this: https://ncdrisc.org/bmi-mean-ranking-urban.html and this: https://data.worldobesity.org/publications/?cat=22 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jordi2023 (talk • contribs) 10:13, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
