Roxy Willis

I'm not sure the source for Roxy ([1]) should lead to her inclusion on the list. The headline is clickbait, as nowhere in the actual article does it state that she's evil or turning evil. The actress mentions that Roxy could develop a mean streak, which isn't the same thing. Is there a better source for her? - JuneGloom07 Talk 19:08, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

@AnemoneProjectors: What do you think? - JuneGloom07 Talk 23:30, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
@JuneGloom07: I agree with you, I don't think that source should allow her to be included here. — 🌼📽️AnemoneProjectors💬 23:41, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
I've removed it. I had a quick look for any replacements, but didn't find any. She's not really an evil/villainous character, just "sassy" and wild. - JuneGloom07 Talk 03:43, 21 December 2019 (UTC)

Early day villains

How do we go about adding villains such as Harry Mowlam from Emmerdale? He appeared 1983 to 1986 so there's no way there's going to be an internet news article on him. Would the Emmerdale FANDOM be a suitable reference? EmmerdaleFan1972 (talk) 07:09, 20 January 2020 (UTC)

Fandom is not a reliable source. However, sources from the 1980s do exist in print or online newspaper archives, and also characters from the 1980s are sometimes still discussed in more recent articles, for example, Digital Spy or Inside Soap may do an article discussing past characters. But if no reliable sources can be found, I'm sorry the character cannot be listed. Sources could still appear in the future, for example, if the actor is still working then the character could be mentioned if the actor is cast in something else, of if the actor dies then the character might be mentioned as a villain in the actor's obituary. — 🌼📽️AnemoneProjectors💬 10:35, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
Break out the books! - JuneGloom07 Talk 18:01, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
Even if the information from the Emmerdale FANDOM is literally directly from the episodes, of which a small amount can be found online? EmmerdaleFan1972 (talk) 08:03, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

@AnemoneProjectors:

I did see a book celebrating Emmerdale's 25th anniversary from 1997 in which another character, Derek Warner, who incidentally killed Harry Mowlam mentioned above, is described as a "villain" or possible as "evil". I can't remember which exactly as it has been a while since I saw the book but it is definitely there. Maybe someone else can find it and add it as a source?81.99.69.50 (talk) 15:02, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Don Brennan, Coronation Street

@AnemoneProjectors:

I found this article [2] from Entertainment Daily which has a list of Coronation Street villains, including Don Brennan on it. Is it a reliable source and can it be used? Is Entertainment Daily a reliable website?81.99.69.50 (talk) 15:04, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

So can this source be used or not?80.5.198.109 (talk) 13:45, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Hollyoaks characters 2

@AnemoneProjectors:

I found this source for two new Hollyoaks characters [3] who are due to arrive this week. It is from The Sun. Can it not be used because of this?77.97.55.147 (talk) 22:14, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

The Sun is no longer considered a reliable source for Wikipedia. Please try to find another source if you can. — 🌼📽️AnemoneProjectors💬 23:07, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
In particular, the Sun has an unfortunate tendency to jazz things up with tantalising tidbits, i.e. made up stuff. FWIW, Digital Spy seems to actually be a pretty good source for TV fiction - i.e., they don't mess with the press releases ahead of time - David Gerard (talk) 23:50, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
I couldn't find any other sources calling them "villains".77.97.55.147 (talk) 01:29, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
Sources may appear in time. — 🌼📽️AnemoneProjectors💬 18:13, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
I found a source for Toby. The actor was nominated in the "best villain" category of the Inside Soap Awards.80.5.198.109 (talk) 16:39, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Inside Soap Source

I've just added a source from Inside Soap Magazine and it says that there is something wrong with the dates format but I can't tell what and have tried to fix it but I am not sure what is wrong. Can someone please help?80.5.198.109 (talk) 13:44, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Fixed. You needed to add spaces either side of the dash, as it was separating two different months. - JuneGloom07 Talk 03:53, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. I didn't realize that, that it was different to two separate months as opposed to the same month. I need to remember that for the future.80.5.198.109 (talk) 13:52, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Daily Star and Metro

I recently added a source from Metro but it was removed. I was told that Metro and Daily Star were not being used as sources on Wikipedia anymore. Is this true? If so I knew that The Sun and the Daily Mail were not being used anymore but I didn't know about the others. There are a lot of existing Metro and Star sources on this page that will need removing as well.82.16.78.185 (talk) 19:09, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

So can my source from Metro about EastEnders' Katy Lewis be added or not?82.16.78.185 (talk) 16:41, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
So, The Daily Star was deprecated this year in a RfC, as it has a reputation for publishing false or fabricated information. The Metro has been deemed generally unreliable, with the print articles (which are also available online) considered more reliable than the online-only articles. I think you can still use it, but look for an alternative first. If you need more information, check out WP:RSP. - JuneGloom07 Talk 03:46, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
OK. Thanks. What does RfC stand for by the way?82.16.78.185 (talk) 14:03, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, it's requests for comment (WP:RfC). - JuneGloom07 Talk 19:30, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. I will remember that for the future in case I need to use it ever.82.16.78.185 (talk) 02:01, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
Also, by deprecated, do you mean that the Star was banned as a source and have any "Star" sources been taken off the page yet?82.16.78.185 (talk) 02:04, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Apart from the Metro source, the only other source I could find calling Katy "evil" was this one [4] from Entertainment Daily and it is based on the opinion of someone from Twitter. I don't even know if Entertainment Daily is an acceptable source. I asked about it in another query above about Corrie's Don Brennan but at the time I didn't get a reply.82.16.78.185 (talk) 02:09, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Can my Metro source be used then?82.16.78.185 (talk) 00:19, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
It seems the answer is yes then, as both of the sources, the original one from Metro and the one from Entertainment Daily have been added.82.16.78.185 (talk) 00:29, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
I see now that the Entertainment Daily source has been replaced by one from Digital Spy. I was going to ask if I should add that one instead of the others but it seems that somebody has beaten me to it and saved me the bother, also answering my query.82.16.78.185 (talk) 01:16, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
Have the Daily Star sources now been removed? I noticed Rebecca White from Emmerdale has been taken off and her source was a Daily Star one so have they all been taken off now?82.16.78.185 (talk) 22:39, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Daily Express Sources

I know that several of the British tabloids are banned from being used as sources on here such as The Sun and The Daily Mail. What about the Daily Express? Can that be used for sources?82.16.78.185 (talk) 22:49, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

John Paul McQueen??

I find it quite bizarre that John Paul is considered a villain on this article. In the show he was never really considered one, and the article seems to be a funny/ironic one rather than one to be taken seriously. I think that he should be removed, as he was and isn't considered a villain - he has only made a few mistakes, which almost all the characters have done. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 07:06, 3 January 2021 (UTC) Also, I think Simone Loveday should be removed too - the article describes someone else's actions as villainness, not hers

DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 07:08, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Is it? I could have sworn the article was referring to her. If so then I apologize for adding it.82.16.78.185 (talk) 01:17, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
The article states "certain villainous characters have been doing their best to make other peoples lives a misery" then mentions something Simone did to Sylver, indicating that she is the "villain" and he the "victim". I thought the "villainous" reference was to both her and Buster. It certainly implies it. If it is not clear enough then feel free to take it down.82.16.78.185 (talk) 01:21, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
The John Paul one definitely calls him a "villain" and it is from Digital Spy which is a reputable source website although this article does sound like pointless clickbait. It says more about them and how they write articles but how do you define whether or not a source is "serious" or not enough to be able to use? It should be made more clear. It's up to the moderators to decide whether or not it should be used.82.16.78.185 (talk) 01:25, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
I see the Simone source has now been removed even though it was from Digital Spy. Was it not good enough or clear enough then or was there another reason it was taken down?82.16.78.185 (talk) 22:51, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
