"Ocean" type?
[edit]Should the "Ocean" type and it´s page not better be renamed "Commerce de Marseille class" after the first ship of the class instead of the third name of the second ship? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.83.148.243 (talk) 08:23, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
French records refer to it as the Océan class, or otherwise as the Sané standard 118-gun type after its designer. Rif Winfield (talk) 18:24, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Star
[edit]A number of ships have a star (*) sign after their name; what does that mean? Maybe we could replace this with a note to dynamically link to the caption for the symbol. Rama (talk) 08:55, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Montmorency (c. 1826)
[edit]For the record, SpookyMulder added mention of a ship named Montmorency on 11 September 2006 [1], but I have been unable to find any mention of either a Montmorency or Duc de Montmorency in either Demerliac or Roche. I am taking the liberty of removing the mention, feel free to restore if you know better. Rama (talk) 12:38, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
- Well done, you are correct; there was never a naval ship of this name. Rif Winfield (talk) 08:36, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
