[edit]This page is to provide a list of proposed coal fired power station in Australia. Further development of coal fired power stations in Australia is a contentious issue because of the Federal Governments obligations under the Kyoto Protocol and the lack of any proven commercial Carbon Capture and storage which has been estimated to be 15 to 20 years away (in 2007 by CSIRO Scientist). dinghy (talk) 01:34, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
This list is incorrect/out-of-date for Western Australia. As this is a list of PROPOSED POWER STATIONS, maintaining currency will always be an issue. Many proposed major projects, let alone power station projects, do not proceed in WA. I question the usefulness of this page given this. Keelback (talk) 07:20, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I updated WA information as it was out of date and removed North Queensland Power Station as the text stated that it was a gas-fired power station so it does not belong on this list of coal fired power stations. Keelback (talk) 09:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
This list should be for at least all proposed power stations in Australia using fossil fuels (eg. coal and gas). Where do power stations under construction go? The Victorian Mortlake gas fired power station [1] is not yet listed on this page nor is it on the list of currect Victorian power stations [2]. There are a further two major proposed gas stations in Victoria - one likely to be built near Port Fairy in western Victoria [3] and another one (can't remember the location or name! - pretty useless!!) --Philip Sutton (talk) 14:01, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
