Music series

[edit]

There was a show in the early 90's that played videos from other countries, videos that were normally played on their foreign stations. Does anyone remember what it was called?--C.J. (talk contribs) 16:57, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I remember it as "Earth to MTV" but it was very short-lived. I first saw Ofra Haza, Dissendenten, Loop Guru (i think) angelique kidjo and a few others on there. I can't find anything about it anywhere online. Smibbo (talk) 21:03, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

January 2015

[edit]

Okay, things are getting ridiculous on this page. I have seen this "upcoming" section re-added after I deleted it:

--- Reality series ---

  • What Was Damey Wayne Thinking?

---Throw block series---

I don't see how MTV could possibly air any of these shows on their schedule. Comments? I want your input before taking this to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection.

For the record: [The edit where this came from]. Note the unexplained addition of unsourced content, and unexplained content removal. ElectricBurst(Electron firings)(Zaps) 17:42, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Former acquired programming?

[edit]

I looked at the "former acquired programming" section of the article, and I have found these shows on there, none of which I think ever aired on MTV:

Some of these should be pretty obvious. If any of these shows ever aired on MTV, they should be sourced before they are re-inserted. ElectricBurst(Electron firings)(Zaps) 17:38, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Superock

[edit]

At present it says that the Superock show started and ended in 1995, but it was definitely going at least until the late 90's.QuintusPetillius (talk) 11:57, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 30 June 2020

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. This RM seeks to reduce the scope of the lists. I find there is no consensus to do so. Since the scope of the lists remain the same in the absence of a consensus to change them (WP:NOCON), and the proposed title would inaccurately describe the current scope of the lists, the current titles should remain unless a consensus to reduce the list scope is established. – per Talk:List of HBO original programming#Requested move 13 June 2020. I request again about the discussion (3-6). St3095 (?) 11:18, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per previous discussion. -- Wikipedical (talk) 16:27, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Same basic opinion as the previous WGN America discussion: a significant part of these channels' programming has been to air acquired, syndicated, non-original, or second-run shows that previously aired on another network -- and therefore not "original". I oppose changing the scope of these list pages to remove them (as if we are censoring this historical record on a part of their programming). Zzyzx11 (talk) 02:23, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Ignoring Zzyzx11 is comedial argument about censoring, the fact is that the MoS already addresses non-original/first-run programs on networks at MOS:TVCATS, where it says TV series should avoid network categories when they were not originally produced for that network, and also {{Infobox television}} (with even WP:NOTTVGUIDE addressing these TV guide style lists). These syndicated lists offer no encyclopedic value. Who cares how many TV networks around the world have aired Friends? If RS talk about this fact, then it should be mentioned at the Friends article. --Gonnym (talk) 10:08, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
MOS:TVCATS only addresses categorization, not really the specific content on list articles. There is no also requirement that a category must always be eponymous with a "main" article that exactly matches its scope. The situation with these channels is different than the ones listed on the 13 June 2020 RM discussion. Listing syndicated programs on these pages are significant enough to include as encyclopedic value because, again, a significant part of many of these specific channels' programming has been to air acquired, syndicated, non-original, or second-run shows. Basically no different than List of programs broadcast by CTV and CTV 2#American series, Channel 5 (British TV channel) programming, or some of these other foreign channels where a significant bulk of their programming consists of syndicated, non-original, or otherwise shows acquired from the United States. Yes, people may care if a channel, whether inside or outside the U.S., airs re-runs of Friends, especially if said channel makes it one of their foundations of their programming lineup. MTV cartoons form 2004-2008

[edit]

All the cartoons from 2004 to 2008 originally aired on MTV2. Did they rerun on MTV's main network as well? Because if so, they should be on the list of MTV acquired programming instead.
