Education?

I don't see the need for this column in this list. If others see this, please comment. (I have posted a note at the userpage). Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 21:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi,

I saw your reversion to the prior edit. Why did have to remove the education column? I think to have a proper understanding of the nature of the Indian presidency, the education column is a necessity. Look, their political affiliation is common knowledge. Everyone knows that the person who gets the maximum votes across party lines, eventually wins. So what? Must not the public have a right to know whether their president earned their degrees from? Even if a president is a rubber stamp, the common man needs to know the academic institutions that produced the rubber stamp president!! Must you deprive Patna University of all credit if Laloo Prasad Yadav becomes the president six years from now?!

Thanks,

Patoldanga'r Tenida 21:59, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

If someone wants to know the president's education, then can check that under the respective biography. We need to retain only the most relevant information here. Please see List of Presidents of the United States which is a FA. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 00:55, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
I have removed the birth place for the same reason. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 01:32, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

May be we should come up with something similar to this template. That would allow for the list to be sorted and stored in many ways and keep this main list simple. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 03:06, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

I created the following articles:

There are many more red-links on this template. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 21:10, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Can you change Kalam being the first muslim President? he is infact the third. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raivikas (talkcontribs) 03:10, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the new articles. Maybe they should be linked with the main article on President of India. Also I am not entirely sure that Giani Zail Singh went to Delhi University. Maybe the names of universities should be given only as the university and not the college awarded their respective degrees. I am not sure which university Govt. Arts College Anantapur was affiliated to at the time when NS Reddy studied there or of Sykes Law College when BD Jatti was a student. Also the degree awarded with year awarded could be put in separate columns.

Pls correct the webpage.

Mrs Pratibha Patil is infact 12th President of India and not 13th as shown on your site.

The acting presidents and repat term presidents are not counted as new presidents.

Vivek Bhatt —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.64.74.115 (talkcontribs).

There have been 13 presidential elections till date. The list is numbered according to the election which puts Prathiba Patil as the 13th President of India See [1]. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 20:08, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Now there have been 14th president of India. Mr. Ram Nath Kobind is the new president of Republic Of India. Anujc964 (talk) 11:51, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Party Affliation

Technically speaking the President of India is not affiliated to any political party. The party affiliation should be removed from the article.--Shahab 13:04, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Party affiliation was sourced from www.worldstatesmen.org. If he/she belonged to a party, shouldn't the reader be informed? Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 07:35, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Pls correct the webpage.

If this is a list of presidents I think so Pratibha Patil should be numbered 12th but if it is a list of elections then it must be specified in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donrub (talkcontribs) 17:59, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

I have added a note about this. Please see footnote #3. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 20:46, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Image showing presidents from each state

NS Reddy is from Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Please correct so that it reflect 1 president from Andhra Pradesh. 3 presidents are from Tamil Nadu — Preceding unsigned comment added by Itsmyworld (talkcontribs) 13:55, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

He was born in what was then Madras Presidency thus it shows as Tamil Nadu. Adamgerber80 (talk) 01:56, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

That's very faulty reasoning. Then Madras province consisted of the whole of present day Andhra Pradesh. AP and Tamil Nadu would both be successor states to Madras just like how Indian Punjab, Pakistan Punjab and Haryana would be successor states to erstwhile Punjab Province. The source given in TOI also lists Neelam Sanjeevani Reddy under AP and not Tamil Nadu. Reo kwon (talk) 01:16, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Were four Presidents born in Tamil Nadu?

Only two Presidents were born in Tamil Nadu, but the map shows four. Gopalan evr (talk) 03:18, 30 September 2018 (UTC)

It refers to undivided Madras state. Adamgerber80 (talk) 01:10, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

It's undivided Madras state, not Tamil Nadu. The present state of Andhra Pradesh was fully a part of that province. It that were the case then V.V.Giri should also be attributed to Tamil Nadu as his place of birth Berhampur was in Madras province at that time. Reo kwon (talk) 01:29, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Image of Presidents' states is wrong

Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy was born in Anantapur district in present day Andhra Pradesh. There is no way he should be attributed to Tamil Nadu. Even the source TOI attributes him to Andhra.

Also, don't feel having this kind of an infographic is helpful. Most of the pre-independence born Presidents are born in provinces which are not based on linguistic lines and some have spent most part of their lives in a state other than their birth state. And so the map may not be reflective of their ethnicity or the state they actually represented. Reo kwon (talk) 01:24, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

List

The key shows two symbols: a dagger (†) that shows the President died in office, and an inverted dagger that shows the President resigned. The dagger is shown against F A Ahmed — but the inverted dagger doesn't appear against any name ... so why is it shown? Prisoner of Zenda (talk) 10:36, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
