Here I linked the songs to the respective music video sections as this article is about YouTube videos, not songs. I was reverted here by Luke Stark 96 who said this wasn't necessary. Now, I think this is necessary for the reason I mentioned in the last sentence, and we already have it like this on the other YouTube video lists, Pauseypaul asked me which lists, here they are: List of most-viewed YouTube videos and List of most-disliked YouTube videos. wumbolo ^^^ 21:03, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

Like percentage

I feel the more than the like-dislike ratio, Like-view ratio is an important factor. So a coloumn can be added to track it. Hermit Curator 02:52, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

What counts as not a music video

On the article, Baby Shark Dance by pinkfong is also listed in a section about the top liked videos that aren't music videos, even though the video is a music video. Is this because its category is Education, perhaps? ZakeryaWP (talk) 14:33, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

PewDiePie's Youtube Rewind 2018

PewDiePie has uploaded a video in his channel called "YouTube Rewind 2018 but it's actually good". Within 24 hours the video got more than 3 million likes and it is really near the top 10 non-musical videos. I belive, though, we should wait at least two weeks before including the video in the chart due to its popularity. An youtube video is generally viral for some weeks and then it becomes stable. Therefore, waiting a couple of weeks would prevent unecessary editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gustavo Avair (talkcontribs) 12:55, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

The video is about to get in the top 10, when it does, please someone get Baby Shark out of it. It is a music video so it doesn't belong in that list. WhiteKnee Houston (talk) 16:38, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

PewDiepie"s Youtube Rewind 2018 has a very special distinction that separates it from other videos Not only did it become the most liked video within 48 hours for a non music video it did this without the help of the trending page due to most likely Youtube not wanting to showcase his channel causing even more controversy over Youtubes policy guidelines and trending page. I think this should be edited into a note for the video. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dil17 (talkcontribs) 10:08, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

What constitutes a non-music video?

How is PewDiePie's 2018 Rewind not a music video? The only non-music part is the first 17 seconds. The same could be argued for YouTube Rewind 2017, which is mostly a remix of various songs. I'm guessing what actually constitutes "music videos" from "non-music videos" is if the video is in the "Music" category. If so, then shouldn't this be made clear? FallingGravity 22:19, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

In PewDiePie's Rewind, from 3:17 to 4:00 is not a music part--Luke Stark 96 (talk) 22:34, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
There's still music during that part. FallingGravity 23:40, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
But it isn't a song, nobody is singing during this part--Luke Stark 96 (talk) 23:42, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
The article says "music video", not "singing video". Plus, a lot of songs have spoken interludes. The point is we don't have a good definition of "music video", so I'm raising the question here. FallingGravity 00:23, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
This has always been unsourced, and now we have a citogenesis incident with MrBeast citing Wikipedia in his video. wumbolo ^^^ 21:54, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
Asking "how is something not a music video" is asking to prove a negative, the responsibility is on you to prove that it's a music video. But good luck with that seeing as most well produced videos have music in the background in time with whats being shown in the foreground, which is how you seem to define a "music video". --Benjamin Machine (talk) 07:16, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

Question

@MelanieN: I know you are a legit. editor. That this page passed WP:AfD I find hard to believe. That said, I also notice that the YouTube videos are being used as references for the videos. I find that highly questionable. Can they be deleted? --David Tornheim (talk) 07:13, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

YouTube as reference for itself

In my recent edits to this article ([1][2][3][4]), I deleted sourcing to the YouTube videos with this explanation:

We are not an advertising platform for YouTube; you need an *independent* source (WP:RS) for this information

During those edits, I had believed I was at the Despacito, where I had already done a similar deletion without objection. This article is slightly different than Despacito, and I anticipate objection from its main steward, Luke_Stark_96, who I know has put substantial time into maintaining it. So, I am prepared to discuss and seek consensus before I make any of those deletions--deletions that I *do* think are warranted. Hence, I self-reverted.

I am also pinging: Binksternet and Koavf, who have shown interest in the use of Wikipedia as an advertising platform for YouTube, iTunes, Amazon.com, etc. I also put a notice of this discussion here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums#List_of_most-liked_YouTube_videos --David Tornheim (talk) 03:36, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

If all that is being sourced is the like count, it's acceptable.
However, the article seems to be lacking in substance. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:14, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

The consensus is to delete the "Non-music videos" section because it is original research and is unsourced. The section has been deleted. There is no prejudice against restoring the section if it can be sourced to reliable sources.

Why's this not here? The claim that "original research" and a lack of sources does not mean the subject doesn't exist. Why wouldn't we've just asked for sources in the talk section of this page instead of just deleting it out of nowhere? It's very simple and the section should be included in the article, with sources provided, as it's EXTREMELY easy to do so. ~ Aardwolf68 (talk) 18:31, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

Add another sentence in note for Baby Shark Dance

Well, Baby Shark Dance by Pinkfong is the most-viewed video on YouTube while it is the fourth most-liked video. I think that kind of sentence would have to be included in there for being the most-viewed video ever since, like "It is the most-viewed video on YouTube as of May 2021." (That video surpassed Despacito as the most-viewed YouTube video on November 1, 2020, while Despacito is still the most-liked.) Is it okay to include that kind of sentence in there? If it's okay, then I may add that. I don't think that kind of sentence should be irrelevant to include on #4 note on the list in this article of most-liked videos on the platform, which I noticed why another user removed that. --Allen (talk / ctrb) 07:29, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Top Videos Value 30 has a spelling error. Change Mrbeast in Uploader / Artist to MrBeast to follow all other mentions of them. Vlokecraft (talk) 11:13, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

SarkisNeder (talk) 13:47, 5 December 2023 (UTC) GTA VI trailer should be in the historical most-liked videos. The trailer got 7.3 millions likes in only 14 hours.

Not done: The video was not the most liked video on youtube, it would have to pass the current most liked video to be entered into the list, which currently has 52 million likes. GrayStorm (talk) 17:04, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Fixed this. Thank you Irltoad (talk) 21:10, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

View counts

Some of these view counts are grossly out of date. For example, baby shark dance is at 14 billion with a B views. Ayeroxor (talk) 18:24, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

I, Alexandra Zdrinca, would like to be added as the producer of the "Would You Fly to Paris for a Baguette?" video. I can submit evidence that I produced this with my coworker of the time Jay Neo. Azdrinca (talk) 15:39, 27 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done: None of the videos currently list a producer, so adding one for just this single video seems a bit odd. PianoDan (talk) 15:44, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
