Surely this has to be a continous highway?

[edit]

Having the Pan-American here at longest just seems wrong. Each individual section (north and south of the Darien Gap) could be included as separate entities (and lengths)- it seems bizarre, and factually inaccurate, to include two unconnected highways just because they are near (100km) to each other. From this logic we could just connect highways to smaller roads and connect South Africa to the east of Russia and call it one highway. Longest uninterrupted highway - AH1

[edit]

The entry for Asian Highway 1 has the note "Longest uninterrupted highway"... the Highway has a rather large interruption being the Sea of Japan. Also does their need to be more definition around "highway" - the section in Vietnam for example includes sections of road that are single lane, residential roads... again, not really what would commonly be expected as a "highway". Just my thoughts. John arneVN (talk) 02:44, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In adition of the problems listed above by @John arneVN, this page does list any of the 9 higways comprising the trans-african higway network for exemple, surely the TAH 3 Tripoli–Cape Town Highway totaling 10,808 km (6,716 mi) of contiguous road from north to south africa should be on this list. I've added those over 8,000 km [1] Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 19:02, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding driving feats or records?

[edit]

It'd be interesting to know who was the first to drive the entire distance of these highways and when. Maybe even who drove them in the shortest time. I don't know if that is something that can be researched and added to the graphic. The information may not be easily accessible. Justdoit345 (talk) 01:31, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
