[edit]Why is there a separate category World? What is this very short building listed under Asia doing here? Is the Prora building really the overall longest? Classical geographer (talk) 13:05, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Needs work. A lot of work.
[edit]This article seems just overall sloppy and missing a lot of information. Why is there a seperate section for world, and then every other continent? Not to mention that the number one for world is a LOT shorter than the other ones. There are also no sources mentioned at all. Where is this information coming from? Also, there are quite a few ? involved in this. This information should be known. Also, why aren't there an equal amount of listings for every continent? And North America doesn't have a table, either. Asia and North America have 1 listing, Africa 0 listings, and South America doesn't even have a listing. Europe has 7 listings. This article needs some major improvements and a good source.--Buggadugga (talk) 01:33, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
The Great Wall is a defensive complex, not just a wall, for some kilometers there's a rampart where occupy many warriors.--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 14:57, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- However, the length given is the total length, including other fortifications such as ditches. The total length of actual wall is some 2600 km shorter. And that was distributed among many segments.
- The Great Wall plainly belongs on this list, as the guard towers qualify it as "intended for human occupancy", but an honest entry for it would include only the longest extant segment. That would likely still place it at #1. 192.91.147.34 (talk) 23:59, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
There is a very long office building in Moscow, Varshavskaye Shosse 125. Coordinates: 55 37 36 77; 37 37 13 12. Google Earth ruler shows the length of approx 710 meters. Could please someone help include it to the list? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.247.170.190 (talk) 12:58, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Pianogatan, Gothenburg
[edit]There is an extremely long building on the street Pianogatan (Piano Street) in Gothenburg, Sweden. It's said to be about one kilometer, but I have not measured it on a map. 46.239.104.78 (talk) 04:12, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
Pianogatan is 700 m Pennygången in Gothenburg is 1000 m Kvarteret Källan in Uppsala is 2 km — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.254.2.30 (talk) 21:31, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
LIGO Buildings
[edit]Should the LIGO buildings in be included? The arms are corridors containing the experiment with room for access. There are 2 sites in the U.S., each claiming to be 5 miles in total length (~8046 m). I believe there are additional sites, but I don't know what their specific lengths would be, although I assume it would be the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.17.49.83 (talk) 23:53, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- It seems that only one LIGO is included. Also, the other GW detectors should also be included. Gah4 (talk) 02:17, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Arlanda Airport, Stockholm, Sweden
[edit]T2 to T5F extremes measures apx. 1,200 meters, or apx. 2,000 meters walking distance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.59.8.50 (talk) 00:00, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Moroccan Wall
[edit]I see no mention of the infamous Moroccan Wall, would it be too small in size to count as a fortification? It is supposidly only 2+ meters tall but really long, if we counted all the walls it could be over 2500km long. -- 88.95.104.91 14:18, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Volkswagen administration buildings
[edit]As you can easily verify via Google Earth, The Volkswagen factories in Hannover, Wolfsburg and Baunatal each have an office builing with more than one kilometre length in front of them. The one in Hannover is about 1270 metres long and has five floors. Those might be the longest office buildings in the world, if you only allow straight measurements (unlike Apple Campus 2) for example. They also rankr very high on the list of overall longest buildings. I have not checked othe Volkswagen factories around the world in countries like China, The US and Brazil for example. I suspect they might also have those long office buildings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.131.192.42 (talk) 19:00, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Video commentary
[edit]This Youtube video has some witty comments on this page's claims and a new candidate for longest building https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzGnyqpvwG8
The coordinates for some have 0.00001 degree precision, others are a little less. This is down to about one meter accuracy. Since the buildings are long, where is this coordinate? Gah4 (talk) 02:20, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
VIRGO and both LIGOs.
[edit]Virgo seems to be 3km long. Also, both LIGOs are 4km long. Gah4 (talk) 02:29, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Louvre
[edit]Louvre in Paris, circa 1.6km, not made it to the list? 86.132.27.211 (talk) 09:21, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
