Please contribute to this list of knitting stitches. As there are so many available it will be great to build a comprehensive list here Newbohemianknitwear (talk) 13:51, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi I've happened on this page and thought I'd give it some attention. Here's my thoughts - please anyone with an interest tell me what you think:
The list could be sub-divided into core stitches (eg knit, purl) and pattern stitches which use the core stitches to create texture or function (eg rib, moss/seed, cable). I can help start the stubs for each stitch - though I am not an expert knitter, just an enthusiatic amateur!

I just added the divisions, most importantly diving up individual stitches and stitch patterns. I also deleted a few stitches that are crochet, not knot, stitches. There is still a ton to add though, and I'd love to add abbreviations and make this a great go to reference page for knitters.RachelF2 (talk) 21:51, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
