Content dispute
[edit]@Elchubbo: Can you explain how this does not fail WP:NOTDIR? Wikipedia is not a directory of everything in the universe that exists or has existed
, according to the policy. Wikipedia is not meant to house everything about everything. JTP (talk • contribs) 01:43, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- @NotTheFakeJTP: He is not going to respond. That is just how it is. He is not going to respond because at the end of the day, he realizes he is in the wrong. At least should realize anyways. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 05:45, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
Semiprotection applied
[edit]Edit warring over the addition is not acceptable. Those who wish to see it restored are welcome to petition for that here. Comments that are not up to standard will be removed. If there are too many of these, this talk page, too, will be locked. El_C 19:10, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
Pure Wrestling Assosiation listed at Redirects for discussion
[edit]An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Pure Wrestling Assosiation. Please participate in the redirect discussion if you wish to do so. Onel5969 TT me 00:26, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
- Two things to note about Pure Wrestling Association.
- -it has rebranded to "365 Pro Wrestling
- -it is not defunct in Campbell River, and continues to operate under its new name, it promotes its Ontario shows under the same name.
- Evidence of the old name can be found on its website. Its Facebook page also shows a name change from "PWA Canada" to "365 Pro Wrestling-PWA Canada" and finally to "365 Pro Wrestling." Can I go ahead and change it and/or can it be changed to reflect this? 2604:3D08:3378:EB00:653F:FF03:8933:78F4 (talk) 09:51, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Not sure what happened, I attempted to reflect these changes and everything looked good before I hit published, and now the entire table has disappeared. Is there a way to revert to the older edit without re-doing the whole table? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.108.68.57 (talk) 01:58, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
Information missing
[edit]Curious as to why an entire section of a country were removed. The East Coast of Canada has a very rich wrestling industry. It includes promotions with weekly worldwide tv and ppv events coming up, ones that recently promoted massive events featuring world renowned wrestlers, and a plethora of other reasons that they are notable.
There were several references originally on the page that proved this, yet all current promotions from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland have been removed.
This does not make sense or represent the state of independent wrestling in Canada. Edits removing them should be undone. Thank you. Thegorp (talk) 14:16, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Thegorp: In January, it was brought to this thread that many of these independent promotion pages have promotions that are not notable. WP:LISTCRITERIA states that these kinds of lists should only include bluelinked pages, as Wikipedia is not a directory of everything in the universe that exists or has existed. If there is a Canadian promotion with a Wikipedia page that is not on here, by all means, add it. However, many Canadian promotions do not and thus should not be listed on the page. JTP (talk • contribs) 16:36, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
- @NotTheFakeJTP: the policy states that they “should not” be red linked. If they are, references should be made. These were done properly with most of the promotions including press releases, news articles, and other forms of reference. Your edits from Feb 1 should be undone as you have excluded the current and relevant promotions from a great deal of the country and specifically the East Coast.
“Every entry meets the notability criteria for its own non-redirect article in the English Wikipedia. Red-linked entries are acceptable if the entry is verifiably a member of the listed group, and it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future. This standard prevents Wikipedia from becoming an indiscriminate list, and prevents individual lists from being too large to be useful to readers.”
- @Thegorp: I'm not sure why you randomly came back after three and a half years to question this after two other users have recently done the same but promotions listed here should be notable. If you find one with significant coverage in secondary reliable sources (not press releases, as you stated above), good. But there is no reason for every promotion that has ever existed to be listed here. I really don't feel like getting into another dispute about this, so if you still think I am in the wrong, please bring it up at WT:PW to get a wider view on this. Best, JTP (talk • contribs) 17:19, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
- @NotTheFakeJTP: far from random as I was one of the people adding reference articles, as stated above, about many of the promotions including those from the national news source in Canada. Your opinion on notable promotions should have no bearing.
Fact is, you removed many people’s work because of careless policy interpretation and opinion.
- Getting angry at how Wikipedia operates is never a successful way of getting things the way you want.★Trekker (talk) 19:25, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
- I can put my heart and soul into writing something and put it on Wikipedia, but it doesn't mean it's necessarily right. Carelessness had no part in this decision. JTP (talk • contribs) 19:59, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
