The result of the move request was: moved. I sympathise with the IP's and Erik's position, but as pointed out this is the only outlier in all Indian governor lists. I'd recommend either a bulk RM or RfC to deal with the wider issue of how we should capitalise all these articles. Jenks24 (talk) 12:41, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
List of governors of Andhra Pradesh → List of Governors of Andhra Pradesh – It is a noun --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 20:18, 6 July 2015 (UTC) Vin09 (talk) 16:46, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Vin09 other nouns include apples and oranges. Please elaborate in the issue that you are presenting to exist. GregKaye 17:42, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- GregKaye Other articles are of same type, can check to maintain uniformity. List of Governors of Tamil Nadu, List of Governors of Karnataka.--Vin09 (talk) 17:46, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Support. This is the standard. It's a proper name, so is capitalised. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:43, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose decapitalize all other lists, to match the worldwide naming of lists of governors. "President of the United States" is a proper noun "presidents of the United States" is a common noun ; the same applies here to all the plurals. -- 67.70.32.20 (talk) 22:04, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- I would refer you to List of Presidents of the United States! And most of the articles in Category:Lists of presidents. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:51, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- And actually, at least half the articles listed on Category:Lists of governors use the capitalised form. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:15, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- I would refer you to List of Presidents of the United States! And most of the articles in Category:Lists of presidents. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:51, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose—No need to capitalize here. "Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization."(MOS:CAPS) Let's lowercase the other ones. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 16:22, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- Support for reasons given by Necrothesp. Would say that this is an example of necessary capitalisation.--Iztwoz (talk) 21:53, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- Why would it be necessary? ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 04:10, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- It's a "correct formal title". --Iztwoz (talk) 07:53, 13 July 2015 (UTC) See for examples Governor of the Bank of England, Governor of Kentucky. --Iztwoz (talk) 07:59, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- But it isn't necessary to capitalize it. Many RS don't, so it can't really reasonably be considered incorrect to write it lowercase (or uppercase). e.g. NYT doesn't cap it here, etc, etc. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 09:41, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- Comment. I can see the arguments on both sides, but I fail to see why this article has been singled out when at least half of these lists are capitalised! Why not try to decapitalise something higher profile like List of Presidents of the United States instead of arguing that this one shouldn't be capitalised? That's far more likely to create some sort of precedent (or president). And, let's face it, until lists like that one are decapitalised it seems pointless to try to keep lists like this one decapitalised. Consistency, people! -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:32, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
