What does this list amount to?
[edit]Is this intended as a 'list of valleys in the Peak District' or a 'list of dales'? Within the list(s) are numerous valleys that do not go by the name of 'dale' which suggest that some editors are considering it as the former. Dale appears to be a name for a certain type of valley, employed on a regional basis, the region encompassing most of northern England and some of southern Scotland. Ought we to remove the non-dales from the list of alter the title of the article? cheers Geopersona (talk) 08:06, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Geopersona. It is a very good question. My understanding is that the word dale is a term used widely in Northern England for a valley in general and not for a particular geological type of valley. So for completeness I think that it's worth leaving all valleys (whether called Dale, Vale or Valley) in the list. Cheers, Douglal (talk) 10:28, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
