Percentages

Hello internet peoples, sorry for the blatantly incorrect way of adding my piece, but when you add all of the figures in excel, the total sum of all emissions (in %) is 115%. How is that even possible?

Tonnes per inhabitant

A missing factor is the tonnes per inhabitant, which needs to be entered in an additional column. Without that, what genuine evaluation can be made?--Wetman (talk) 05:59, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Old data

More recent and complete data is available in databases at: the World Bank, EDGAR, World Resources Institute (WRI), UNEP, and EIA (fossil fuels only, {plus GHG total and by components, plus carbon intensities GHG/GDP and CO2(Fuel/GDP}). Some include al{l} Greenhouse gases, some only CO2, some {(eg, IEA)} give emissions from land use changes and forestry in addition to burning. Some include al Greenhouse gases, some only CO2, some give emissions from land use chanegs and forestry in addition to burning. Many also give per-capita data.

Wrong sort

Bangladesh percentage wrong?

Hi all, there seems to be something wrong with the Bangladesh numbers in the table. Sorting on total emissions will put it between countries with around 1%... but the Bangladesh number is at 0.3 %? If the total emission number is correct, then the percentage should be around 1.1%

The European Union and countries within it

The European Union is listed twice with different data for each time. Only the most recent one should be there (if it should be listed at all. It is a 'union' of countries, not a country). In addition, many countries within the EU are listed separately, so it looks like the data from a few countries has been counted three times. Spurious precision

It is ridiculous to give statistics to 7 or more significant figures. Even at a specified point in time, the true statistics will only be known to at most 3 significant figures, and even then the numbers will immediately become out of date. Page on India's emissions contradicts this page

The entry in the table for India links to a Wikipedia page specifically for India's emissions. That page asserts that India is the #3 largest emitter behind China and the United States. However, the table on this page shows India as #4.

As a side note, is it a convention on Wikipedia to put the most-recent talk-page entries at the bottom of the page? That seems inefficient to me because it requires progressively more scrolling for users to see the most recent--and therefore probably mostly timely and relevent--information.

Is EDGAR the best source for non-annex 1 countries?

Obviously there is more up to date data for UNFCCC annex 1 countries but for the rest is the best source EDGAR Chidgk1 (talk) 17:26, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Time horizon

It's important to say what time horizon is used for the global warming potential (GWP). I tried to find out in the references, but failed. So I got in touch with people at the World Resources Institute and ask'd them what they used. In the end I got an answer, that they use the 100-year time horizon. But apparently that fact is not on line. One of them promised that they would put it on line, but didn't say when! I don't see how to give that fact in our article when there's no on-line reference saying it. For now I have put the fact in the article with a reference just referring to this paragraph that I am writing now! Eric Kvaalen (talk) 10:22, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
