Church of Scotland
[edit]It is a surprising that none of these cathedrals is listed here. Does a cathedral necessarily have to have a cathedra to get a mention? See Brechin, Dornoch, Dunblane, Dunkeld, and several others. . Salisian (talk) 09:08, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I don't have a dog in this race but it seems to me the Church of Scotland "cathedrals" get pretty short shrift.[1] I'll draw the veil away from covering their names (the "hide" function will be there for those requiring it). I'm pondering whether they should be included fully like all the rest but what do other people think? Of course, the disclaimer is appropriate but arguably the most widely known Scottish "cathedrals" happen to be Church of Scotland. Thincat (talk) 21:51, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- The C of S "cathedrals" deserve to be listed. As you've already stated, 'the most widely known Scottish "cathedrals" happen to be Church of Scotland'. In the spirit of WP:COMMONNAME this article should be responding to the readers' common understanding - all the C of S cathedral articles have "cathedral" in the article title. A well-written clarification should be sufficient to address factual ambiguity about their post-Reformation status. It does seem particularly odd to omit them from the list entirely.
