Name?
[edit]This coud be a list of cathedrals, or a list of buildings called "Dom", but to pretend that the two would contain the same buildings is misleading. I miss some clarification, the article says "still retain the term cathedral" as if they ever did, but Dom simply doesn't mean cathedral. We have articles such as Frankfurt Cathedral, which is not a cathedral, but a common name. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:50, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- Would it be better to perhaps have a section such as: 'List of churches commonly called Cathedrals'? -MrHistorianDude (talk) 10:00, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
'Presbyterian' polity?
[edit]I'm just wondering, what is the criteria for being a 'Cathedral'?
Should Lutheran cathedrals be included? Some of their buildings definitely are the seats of bishops (Schwerin Cathedral, St. Mary's Church in Berlin, etc.)
Evangelical Church in Germany cathedrals?
[edit]1. The section List_of_cathedrals_in_Germany#Evangelical_Church_in_Germany_cathedrals contains Konstanz Minster, St. John's Church, Mainz and Worms Cathedral although they all appear to be Roman Catholic buildings. Should they be deleted from this section?
2. Brunswick Cathedral, Halberstadt Cathedral, St. Michael's Church, Hamburg, Marktkirche, Hanover, Meissen Cathedral, Schleswig Cathedral, Schwerin Cathedral and Stiftskirche, Stuttgart appear in :Lutheran cathedrals in Germany. I feel that this page and that category should correspond. Should they be included in this page or deleted from that category?
3. Should this page have interlanguage links to Cathedral of St. Mary and John the Evangelist, Ratzeburg and Cathedral of St. Mary, Havelberg ?

- Konstanz and Worms have been removed, Brunswick, Halberstadt, St. Mary's Cathedral, Hamburg (not in my list above), St. Michael's Church, Hamburg, Hanover, Meissen, Merseburg (not in my list above), Schleswig, Schwerin and Stuttgart have been added. St. John's Church, Mainz (not to be confused with Mainz Cathedral) does appear to be Lutheran. I have added interlanguage links to Havelberg and Ratzeburg. Alekksandr (talk) 18:51, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
- St. Michael's Church, Hamburg, Marktkirche, Hanover and Stiftskirche, Stuttgart appear in both List_of_cathedrals_in_Germany#Evangelical_Church_in_Germany_cathedrals and Category:Lutheran cathedrals in Germany. However, they do not appear in the German Wikipedia's corresponding list or corresponding category. They do not appear to have ever been the seats of bishops. I therefore propose to delete them from both the English--language article and the English-language category. Alekksandr (talk) 16:35, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
