Columns

[edit]

If the list is presented as a sortable table, which columns should be shown?

To borrow from the List of castles in Cheshire:

  • Name
  • Location (county, nearest settlement, coords - might use county name as a sort key)
  • Type
  • Constructed (approximate year or century)
  • Scheduled monument (or "Conservation status", or something like that)
  • Image
  • Notes (basic info; will use stuff from respective articles here)

The above is basically Cheshire layout plus image. Some columns will obviously be difficult, but the basic layout can be done rather quickly. GregorB (talk) 19:42, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Maybe without "Scheduled monument" (we can always put it in), and images can be in last colum (or first)? Kebeta (talk) 20:49, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I wouldn't know what to put under "Scheduled monument" anyway. Images in the last column then. (Yeah, or first: I can't decide. If some of them are missing, last column is better; first column may be better otherwise.) GregorB (talk) 21:18, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Than it's agreed. Just make it. Kebeta (talk) 21:47, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Castle vs Fortress

[edit]

I was thinking to include (along with castles) only fortresses which use to be a castles at some point in history (with a reference for being castles). For example, only Walls of Dubrovnik have more than 20 towers, bastions, forts or other fortifications. It would be impossible to complete such a list. What do you think? Kebeta (talk) 22:30, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense. Walls of Dubrovnik are an entirely different category. The only fully comprehensive list that I've found is List of fortifications in Serbia - it appears that, unlike Croatia, fortresses are predominant in Serbia, so that's a different situation.
