Why are the FAA's stats so different from Wikipedia's sources?

I knew something was wrong when I saw JFK was listed above much busier airports like Vegas and Phoenix. These figures look much more accurate.

FAA counts plane; this article counts passengers! HkCaGu (talk) 01:41, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Year to date ranking

This article needs a policy on how to rank the airports in the year to date table. Should we rank them by the ACI's data (to date) or the airports' data (full year)? I think that is important for consistency; coherency is harder to achieve because data (from different sources) aren't coherent. Canaima (talk) 01:08, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

American Dominance

Not related to editing, but does anyone know if all these flights through American airports are mostly domestic or international? Those are some crazy numbers. DaronDierkes (talk) 08:12, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Compare these figures with those at World's busiest airports by international passenger traffic, and your query will be answered. ;)--Huaiwei (talk) 18:52, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Dublin Airport missing

According to wikipedia its passenger amount is 23.2 million which would make them 14th on the list.....I'm confused. (Pavelow235 (talk) 18:58, 5 October 2008 (UTC))

If you may check the dates, the 23.2 million figure for Dublin was for the year 2007. That figure would not put it in the top 30 for that year. You have erroneously compared its 2007 figures with the 2008 year-to-date figures in this table. Hope this clarifies?--Huaiwei (talk) 18:55, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

2008 whole year data?

The list needs to be updated to whole year. I wonder if SEA managed to break the top thirty again.... they had 32,190,653 for the whole year. --24.17.66.32 (talk) 03:29, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

NRT repeated

Tokyo Narita = Narita... the NRT airport is listed twice in most sections!!! they are not separate airports!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.95.3.75 (talk) 18:31, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Please keep updated

Year to date Passenger Traffic by Airports Council International is subject to change. It is often changed on the 15th of each month. I hope someone will keep the page updated every month.Toyotaboy95 - Hong Kong (talk) 03:50, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

2009?

Does anyone know when the 2009 complete data will be ready? I know some airports that are potentially on the list have released prelimenary data or even complete figures, but does anyone know when ACI will release the new list?--76.28.238.116 (talk) 07:28, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Usually around April or May. There was one time when we updated the table using official figures from the individual airports, but that require plenty of monitoring and an additional column to clearly indicate the period for figures stated. We can try doing that again if there is enough pent-up demand, especially since people are keen to know the effects due to the economic downturn.--Huaiwei (talk) 10:58, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

NRT missing !

Now it looks like Tokyo Narita (35mil annual) is missing from the list of Top 20. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.67.140.42 (talk) 22:12, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

You are referring to full-year figures, while the table is for the year up to September. There is nothing wrong with the list.--Huaiwei (talk) 10:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
After doing some research, NRT has 32 million for 2009. We will have to see if it manages to re-enter the top 30, as there may be other contenders just around that figure.--Huaiwei (talk) 17:44, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

ACI vs. others

I disagree with using other sources besides ACI. The numbers may not always be the same, so using ACI's figures allows for consistency. Thoughts? Griffinofwales (talk) 19:24, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Busiest City?

The first paragraph (5/24/10) claims London's is the busiest city airspace. Yet, only LHR is in the top 30 (66 mill in 2009), while EWR and JFK add up to 78 million in 2009. By the top 30, it should be NYC.

OAG schedules for today, however, indicate London does indeed have more capacity 244K departing seats from LHR, LCY, LGW, STN, LTN vs. 194K for EWR, JFK and LGA.

Still, I think a case should be made for counting NYC's as the world's busiest airport system, being it is operated by one entity, the Port Authority of NY&NJ. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.196.3.108 (talk) 13:50, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

30th Place, Munich??

So I looked over the list and noticed a discrepency.. Munich, Germany at 30,303,129 passengers is 30th (2009 year-to-end data) ... Toronto Pearson however got 30 million and in the area of 350-360 thousand .. It should be thirtieth on the list? Otherwise the information for one of them is not correct but Toronto's is 2009 year-end data too?... --+Zack 00:05, 21 August 2010 (UTC)AddZack

Comments on Ranking

I deleted one comment about the 2010 Iceland volcano eruption and the disruptions it caused in Europe, as the cause of the decline of European airports in the ranking. When we are showing rankings we need to talk about the data contained in the chart and the sources, but not to discuss why some results are good or bad. There is no point to discuss global or local crises which are affecting global or individual results in this point. JorgeRodriguez (talk) 08:01, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

I am the poster who added it. Obviously, I disagree. Presenting the bare data of 2010 YTD is deceptive if it does not involve remarks or footnotes on why it is atypical compared to the previous years. People might very easily draw incorrect conclusions from it. We don't need to "discuss" the effects of the volcano on the results, but we need to mention it. -- Marcika (talk) 08:12, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
the current data lists January-May. that should say enough. ---何献龙4993 (talk) 04:20, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Beijing and Shanghai will see a sharp decline of passenger traffic

As the high speed rail link between Beijing and Shanghai was put into service at the end of June 2011, the air passenger traffic in these two airports will be greatly affected, a large number of passengers will be diverted from air to high speed rail. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.76.97.95 (talk) 02:52, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

City ranking instead of airport ranking

City ranking instead of airport ranking would be interesting : for example Paris has 2 big airports and had 83,4 million passengers in 2010, second rank in Europe after London. Six cities have bigger airports but have they 2 or more airports ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.220.166.253 (talk) 21:34, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

This request comes up often, but there never seemed to be reliable information available. I've recently come across reasonably reliable sources based on 2010 ACI data, and created a new article World's busiest city airport systems by passenger traffic. Please check it out and help improve the new article. Zanhe (talk) 22:53, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Changes to 2010 statistics

Forums, such as the one referenced in this edit, are not a reliable source per WP:SPS. This is why I have reverted the repeatedly reintroduced changes. However, as the IP/User:Alisher1990 is constantly reintroducing the material, I wanted to attempt to discuss it here instead of continuing this back and forth. - SudoGhost 18:32, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Dear SudoGhost, as I found a new information, I think, I can expand the number of airports from current 30 to 50 for 2010 statistics. What can you say about this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisher1990 (talkcontribs) 18:39, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Do you have a reliable source that shows this? - SudoGhost 18:41, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Yes, the skycrapercity.com, in my opinion, is very reliable source. What about you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisher1990 (talkcontribs) 18:43, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
This web-site has many useful information considering this discussion, what can you say for this?
As I said on my talk page, while you are welcome to your opinion, unexplained opinions are not sufficient to include it as a reliable source when established Wikipedia policy says otherwise. It is not a reliable source per Wikipedia's policies on the matter, and as such, it does not matter how much "useful information" is in the forum, the forum is not reliable per WP:SPS. Anyone can start a forum or make a forum post saying anything they want, and that makes them unreliable. - SudoGhost 18:51, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
What kind of sources are accepted as "reliable sources"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisher1990 (talkcontribs) 19:05, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
This is the guideline for reliable sources. - SudoGhost 19:09, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Does anyone know, where we statistics for 50 airports can be found for 2010? It seems like no one had published this yet. If someone find this ststistics, can this person send me this information? Thank to everybody. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisher1990 (talkcontribs) 19:33, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
I'll look for one, but until a reliable source can be found, I think it would be best for you to undo your last edit to World's busiest airports by passenger traffic, and when a reliable source can be found we can update the information in the article with that source, if necessary. - SudoGhost 19:37, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Well, SudoGhost, have you found any source for airports statistics for 2010? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisher1990 (talkcontribs) 15:25, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia isn't considered a reliable source. See Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources#Primary, secondary, and tertiary sources for more info. Elockid (Talk) 00:14, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Let's use sources other than ACI. Because in some cases ACI's sources are typically wrong. For example, for 2011 year-to-date statistics Guangzhou and Jakarta are missing, but these two airports handled more than 40 mln passengers each. It means that they can't drop from top 30. And also with #31-50 airports for 2010. Our dear SudoGhest always removing my editions. But let's just look for official statistics for world's major airports and according to these, will create our own ranking. For ex, as Guangzhou and Jakarta missing right now, it means that ACI's ranking is wrong now. We must change this situation. Let's we weill not just blindly follow only ACI. Because web contains thousands of other reliable sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisher1990 (talkcontribs) 09:37, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

SudoGhest, let's expand the list of busiest airports from 30 to 50 in 2010 section. But let's not use ACI source because ACI still hadn't published 50 airports yet. Let's just take information from offcicial airposts' releases and publish it with all links provided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisher1990 (talkcontribs) 18:41, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

That would be all but impossible, because each airport reports differing numbers and can conflict wildly with each other. What one source would say is #3 another source would say is not. That's why a single source is used for consistancy. - SudoGhost 18:56, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Let's expand number of airports from 30 to 50, because I couldn't find ACI's official press-releases with 50 airports for 2010. Let's just take official numbers from airports' statistics and publish it with all links. By the way, why Guangzhou and Jakarta are missing in TOP 30 for 2011? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.247.3.205 (talk) 13:22, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Guangzhou (CAN) missing

CAN is missing from the 2011 list, which should be among the top 20 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Awvsaw (talkcontribs) 11:27, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Not according to the source. While that is true for 2009 and 2010, it doesn't appear to be the case for 2011. - SudoGhost 15:19, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
According to another source CAN processed 45 million passengers in 2011. Apparently ACI missed CAN by mistake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Awvsaw (talkcontribs) 21:00, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
That source doesn't appear to give any indication of how those numbers are determined, for example ACI says "Total passengers enplaned and deplaned, passengers in transit counted once." but that link doesn't appear to say whether this is the case or not. Also, the ACI source doesn't show the total year's numbers, those don't appear to have been released yet. The ACI source shows the figured up to October, so until the full year's numbers are released it doesn't help to compare the two. - SudoGhost 23:40, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
  • SudoGhost, the article is called "World's busiest airports by passenger traffic", not "ACI world's busiest airports by passenger traffic". So I hope you do cancel your latest edits. Either will need to rename the article.--178.162.75.63 (talk) 15:27, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, but you can't have the lede of the article say "For consistency, the ACI's annual figures are always used in the final presentation and ranking, even where official figures released by airport operators or authorities may fail to tally." and then do otherwise. Especially when the source given doesn't state how the numbers are determined. If passengers in transit are counted for arrival, and then counted separately for departure (or some other method of determining the numbers are used), then you're comparing two completely different sets of numbers, which cannot be done accurately. Also, Guangzhou's numbers have been in the list before, why would they suddenly fail to account for it? The likely scenario is that CAN's numbers, as ACI tallys them, aren't within the top 30. Unless there is a reliable source that shows otherwise, consistent with how the other numbers are determined, then it shouldn't in that list. - SudoGhost 05:29, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
There is figures of ACI, there are also other sources. They do not contradict each other. Just in the ACI did not enter an airport - a common thing for ACI: compare data for 2010 List of the busiest airports in Europe and 1 Glasgow airport №50 in ACI and №58 in wiki - between №1 and №50 ACI do not take into account the eight airports.--178.162.75.63 (talk) 15:53, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
It isn't an issue of them not contradicting each other, its an issue of apples and oranges. Two sets of numbers, if they are figured in different ways, cannot accurately be compared. Unless it can be shown that the CAN numbers are compatible with the ACI numbers, then the CAN numbers cannot be compared against the ACI numbers, not least of all because ACI has given the CAN numbers for years; there is no reason why they would suddenly neglect to show these numbers. The more likely scenario is that, as ACI counts passenger traffic, CAN was not in the top 30 for 2011. - SudoGhost 01:49, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
ACI does not indicate all the major airports, it was shown above. Apples and oranges - just your words, they is not check, since you have not shown the ACI figures for the Guangzhou. Other sources were cited for CAN. Remind that removal of information, which is confirmed by reliable sources is violates the rules wiki.--178.162.75.63 (talk) 15:24, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Nothing of the sort was shown above. You cannot compare ACI's method of determining passenger traffic with another figure if you cannot demonstrate that these numbers are determined the same way. Unless it can be demonstrated that this is the same method of counting, or that ACI for some reason neglected to report numbers for an airport, when they have done so in the past, the data does not belong on the article. The information you're inserting is not demonstrated in reliable sources, because what is being inserted is that compared to the other airports, CAN has numbers that are higher than others, when reliable sources have not demonstrated this. For that you'd need to show that this number is compiled in the same manner as the other figures. - SudoGhost 01:34, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Incorrect Statistics?

According to http://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/flughaefen-in-deutschland100.html, Frankfurt Airport has had 57.3 Million passengers in 2012, not 37 Million. The statistics here are wrong. This article needs a major cleanup, maybe it could even be featured with a lot of work. Phoenix2 06:29, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Any proposals for improvements? I was wondering if a table format is better, for example.--Huaiwei 07:17, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

It needs still a major cleanup, I changed only Frankfurt. The German state the airport belongs to is not called "Hesse", but "Hessen". I think the name of the airport is wrong, too. After my knowledge it should be Rhein-Main International Airport instead of Frankfurt International Airport.

Disagreed - Hesse or Hessia is the English word for the German region of "Hessen" Adacus12

crap page. many big airports are without reasons outside the list. the Leonardo da Vinci in Roma, had 30.675.578 pasengers in the 2004 and something more in the 2005. (OFFICAL STATISTIC - http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeroporto_internazionale_Leonardo_da_Vinci)

Another problem: The table lists Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport as the 13th busiest, but the corresponding article for that airport says it is the 12th. Which is correct?

Yet another stats problem, in 2004 Toronto was listed as #29, in 2005 Toronto is listed as #29 yet the "rank change" column claims that it went down by one rank - which is clearly incorrect. CraigWyllie (talk) 03:28, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Rome International Airport had 32.945.223 passengers in 2007. It should be the 30th airport and not Barcelona.

Proposed change to the location column

The "location" column of the tables is highly inconsistent, with different levels of accuracy and precision. I propose changing it to the "main city served" instead, which is far more relevant to readers than the exact town or village where the airport is located. Currently, for some airports (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport, for example), you can't even tell what cities they serve from the table. -Zanhe (talk) 02:44, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

When I assume that more passengers are at Atlanta is the 1st and Beijing is the 2nd but 1st now. At George Bush Intercontinental Airport, is the 26th largest and more passengers wagered is 30th. --Allen Talk 17:10, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

2012 statistics not matching source

The 2012 statistics don't match with the numbers from the source. For example, the source states Atalanta's number as 95,462,867, while this article states it as 94,956,643. 5 of the top 6 airports (barring Tokyo) are inconsistent, but the entries below those do match. I noticed since the changes in percent were incorrect; with these numbers the change would be -0.55% for Atlanta from 2012 to 2013, instead of -1.1%. However, the 2013 source states a 1.13% change, so they must be using the same 2012 numbers as this article. Is it that the numbers have been updated, or is another source used? 81.230.184.49 (talk) 12:09, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

2014 Final figures not yet released

Please take note that the source of the data only reports figures up to September 2014 (March 10th, 2015). There is a 12 month rolling number, but again that's not a calendar year. Happy to remove the 2014 data, but maybe someone is willing to update this with 2014 YTD figures, as per the source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.184.52.189 (talk) 20:02, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure page protection can fully protect against Instantnood attacks – in addition to using IPs, Instantnood also has a network of pre-existing long-dormant "sleeper" registered accounts that he also uses. I'm not sure either semi-protection or pending changes level 1 protection will work... --IJBall (talk) 13:11, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
@Happysquirrel and IJBall: Nothing can fully protect against Instantnood, he's been at this for eight years! But I think semi-protection or pending change protection can at least make his job much more difficult. In addition to this page, many others need to be protected. Check out his recent activities at List of urban areas by population‎, List of cities proper by population, List of the world's busiest airports by cargo traffic‎,‎ and List of cities proper by population density‎. -Zanhe (talk) 20:08, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

DFW in the wrong place in 12 month statistics

DFW is listed too high in 12 month statistics located at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_world%27s_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic#12_month_statistics based on the number of passengers listed in the same table. It should be further down the list if those numbers are accurate. --172.1.146.146 (talk) 22:35, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

The world's busiest airports by passenger traffic are measured by total passengers (data from Airports Council International (ACI)), defined as passengers enplaned plus passengers deplaned plus direct-transit passengers. New Delhi International Airport has been one of the world's busiest airport every year since 2013 Punitchatu (talk) 16:15, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Hong Kong

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Hong Kong is a country (or as some others may prefer the word "region"), though not a sovereignty state. It has its own flag: The HKSAR Flag, which is widely recognised by International Olympic Committee and some other international organisations (e.g. APEC) under the name of "Hong Kong, China" (often referred to as the Olympic Standard). This is recognised and approved also by the central government of P.R. China. I strongly request related articles to list Hong Kong in the country list (in the form of "Hong Kong, China" if preferred to avoid disputes), and to list its SAR Flag int the flag list. The situation is highly similar to Puerto Rico of U.S., Gibraltar of U.K., and French Polynesia of France. The reasons are: Hong Kong enjoys its own currency (HK Dollar), has its own border (with independent immigration and customs control), own jurisdiction system (common law and Court of Final Appeal), and is recognised as an economy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Groverlynn (talkcontribs)

Groverlynn simultaneously started three nearly identical RFCs. For the sake of consistency, I suggest this RFC be closed and all participants post their comments on Talk:List of cities proper by population#Hong Kong, which has already attracted responses. -Zanhe (talk) 06:30, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

The RFC has concluded with the consensus "that Hong Kong is not a country/nation/sovereign state, it is a city in China." See Talk:List of cities proper by population#Hong Kong. Please stop listing Hong Kong In the country column. -Zanhe (talk) 05:38, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
Hong Kong is not a city of China. It's a special administrative region! Hong Kong has it's own flag, own government and own currency! Please refer to the page Hong Kong if you really know nothing about it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ken173324 (talkcontribs) 08:44, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
Please don't insult people's intelligence. We all know about Hong Kong's status, which is indeed special. But the fact is that it's not a sovereign state, and the consensus from multiple discussions (most recently the RfC above, but also MOS:SOVEREIGNFLAG and List of countries) is that we only use sovereign states and their flags for country fields. -Zanhe (talk) 19:38, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
Hong Kong is full member of International Civil Aviation Organization. In Hong Kong,Civil Aviation Department (Hong Kong) excises full sovereignty in civil aviation, and Civil Aviation Administration of China does not. The case is similar to Olympic Games, Hong Kong has their own national teams and use Hong Kong flag as national flag. Since Hong Kong is full member of International Civil Aviation Organization, Hong Kong flag would be adopted in civil aviation pages. This is following the rule of MOS:SOVEREIGNFLAG. hoising (talk) 14:51, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Hello,

For 2015 rankings, replace Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, with Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, given that the CSIA has handled more passengers, for the year 2015.

You may compare the data here, if you wish: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chhatrapati_Shivaji_International_Airport https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle-Tacoma_International_Airport

Flag(s) for HKG

If only one flag is "allowed", it should be the HKSAR flag. China does not have provincial flags and the SAR flags were created for a reason--for international use. In the USA, a government building would always have two flags (US and state), and if not you can be sure it's a federal government office. However, in Hong Kong, government buildings can have only one flag (HKSAR). (And similarly, if only PRC flag shows, you can be sure it's a PRC government office.) Hong Kong goes to the Olympics with the SAR flag. That should be the case here. HkCaGu (talk) 16:21, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Should the location be presented as Chek Lap Kok, New Territories, Hong Kong, or Chek Lap Kok, New Territories, Hong Kong, China? [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.177.66.30 (talk) 09:33, 27 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.18.170.79 (talk)
I agree with HkCaGu. As a matter of fact the ACI use HK's country code instead of that of the People's Republic. [2] 203.145.93.70 (talk) 20:43, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
totally agree with you. Since Hong Kong is a country (though not sovereignty state), and also play in the Olympic Games with HKSAR Flag, it should be represented with its SAR Flag here. And all those don't agree, please argue with the International Olympic Committee and before they change their standard, please don't change HK's flag in any pages in Wikipedia. Groverlynn (talk) 14:19, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for the discussion. The flags used presently are all first level administrative units. If you are to choose the Hong Kong flag (a second order administrative unit) then you would have to change every province/state in the whole list to match. You can't have hundreds of 1st order administrative units, and a single 2nd order. It's out of place and inappropriate. Hong Kong is most definitely part of China, officially a second order administrative unit on par with the provinces. The Olympics is not the authority for what makes a first level administrative division, I could say the United Nations does not use the Hong Kong flag, and that would be a much more reliable source than the Olympic committee. Mattximus (talk) 14:32, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Also, please be careful with terminology. Hong Kong is not a country, it is a Special administrative region of China. Mattximus (talk) 14:33, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Commentː Wikipedia Icon Manuel suggested that subnational/non-sovereign flags should not be used without directly relevance. In practise, we have some exception which use sub-national flag in stead of national flag, including All-time Olympic Games medal table and List of FIFA World Cup finals. The reason behind the exception is that FIFA and Olympic "country" classifications are different from Wikipedia one, and misrepresentation will be made if follow the general rule.

Back to this questionː
Is the "country" classification behind the ranking is different the general one?
Will using China Flag, instead of HK Flag, will result misrepresentation?
Noteː I am not asking whether HK is a sovereign state/ country, i am asking should HK flag be a exception of general rule in this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chunhim lai (talkcontribs) 23:22, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

Long article and talk pages

I suggest we move old data off the main page. This main article should only contain the current list as well as the previous year's list. It should not be considerably longer in 2019 and 2029 than in 2020 and 2030 etc. Having one old data page per decade seems appropriate (so there would be a 2010-2018 list as of right now). 2018 Wrong data (IAH, SYD, GRU etc.)

Hello everybody,

Just to let you know that data set are inaccurate:

IAH Airport (Houston Intercontinental) has recorded 43,807,539 passengers in 2018, while in the actual file it's mistakenly put ~41 millions. Source: (https://www.fly2houston.com/newsroom/media-kit/traffic-and-statistics/);

SYD Airport (Sydney) has recorded 44,389,000 passengers in 2018, while it's not even shown in the top 50 list. Source: https://www.sydneyairport.com.au/investor/investors-centre/asx-newsroom

GRU Airport (Sao Paulo) has recorded 42.230.432 passengers, and according to the (wrong) list should be in the ranking.

Please review the ranking, as for instance, FCO Airport (Rome) should be ranked #49 and not #47.

Wrong data set for GRU Airport (Sao Paulo)

Dear All,

Data shown for GRU airport are wrong: 42.230.432 is the accurate number (there were mistakes in calculation for June 2018, later on fixed by GRU airport website). Thus, 50th ranked airport should be once again Narita airport (NRT).

Roissy-en-France vs Paris vs Île-de-France

Only 1/4 of Charles de Gaulle is located in Roissy-en-France; the airport as a whole is split across 3 Departments (Val d'Oise, Seine Saint-Denis & Seine-et-Marne). I would suggest 'Paris' is the most useful description we case use as a short-hand location, as the three departments that the airport is located in are generally considered part of the Petite Couronne/Paris Inner Ring Suburbs. The most accurate description would simply be Ile de France. However, Roissy-en-France is also used as the location on the article for Charles de Gaulle Airport and the airport is colloqially known as Roissy Airport locally

I would be interested to gather consensus on this matter before making any changes (if necessary) Curt 内蒙 17:22, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Not done. I appreciate the effort, but the overlapping circles and the small text make it too difficult to read, even more so at a thumbnail size. Besides, it's difficult to see just how much passenger traffic there actually is. A bar chart for a single year or a line chart for multiple years would be much clearer.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 13:29, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Change List of 50 busiest airports for 2021 - Correct source

Please use https://www.panynj.gov/airports/en/statistics-general-info.html on the bottom: 2021 Annual Airport Traffic Report

You will have the right 60 busiest airports in 2021 as per ACI Source at page 32 of the report: please use it to change the 35 busiest airports that appear now in 2021, as the list is wrong and incomplete.

The data for NYC area airports (JFK and Newark would both make the list) has still not been added) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.46.52 (talk) 17:57, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

What do you mean? Both NYC airports (JFK and EWR) are in the list of top busiest 2021 airports. Page 32 of the report :) 2A02:A466:EB9D:1:A471:25:9C44:40C8 (talk) 11:06, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
