Status of State Bank of India

[edit]

Some edits are really silly. For example, SBI along with its associate banks and nationalized bank derive their respective status based on two different statutes. As such, calling State Bank of India as "also nationalized banks" is the result of cram courses on based on which some persons draw their information. At least, they should read Wikipedia article on State Bank of India to understand the position and if it does not clarify the issue, they should read a standard book on Indian banking as information in Wikipedia is faulty in a number of instances. --Bhadani (talk) 23:45, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Balaji Bank

[edit]

A contributor has added the name of Above bank which I just received. I have not heard the name of any such bank in India. Have I missed? In case, some editor has any idea, please feel free to add the name with a reference. --Bhadani (talk) 05:47, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Differntiation of foreign banks

[edit]

What is the difference between "Foreign banks operating in India", "Foreign banks with branches in India" and "Foreign banks with representative offices in India"? The article seems poorly structured. - Master Of Ninja (talk) 09:42, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

SBI

[edit]

It is known that Nainital Bank is a majority owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda. It is on its article. Since, it is registered as a separate banking firm with the RBI, it is listed separately. Please, do not change that. -Kenfyre (talk) 16:48, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Status of IDBI Bank ?

[edit]

With a recent edit @A7ashh14: moved the IDBI Bank from public to private sector. Accompanied with a source and a detailed edit summary this looked OK, but it seems that an IP editor disagrees with this change and tried to revert it. To avoid edit-warring, could knowledgeable editors (aka. not me) double-check this edit please and decide on the bank's current status and categorization in one of the 2 tables? Sorting issue

[edit]

The table in private banks section is not sorting correctly on total assets column. I tried changing all the units to billions, still some problem remains. Can someone please try and fix this. Nitin.35 (talk) 15:11, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, because the sortbottom is sorting it only valuing numeric digits not billion.— Preceding unsigned comment added by ImSonyR9 (talkcontribs) 09:47, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A possible solution would be a manual sort key for each cell, see Help:Sorting#Specifying_a_sort_key_for_a_cell. This would certainly work, but I am not sure it's the best approach (it would need additional maintenance when values change and it would make the table structure more complicated). You could also ask experienced editors at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) to look into the best table syntax for this particular case. GermanJoe (talk) 15:56, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
