2010 Grammy Award
[edit]The Grammy search tool [1] shows that only Yo-Yo Ma received a Grammy for Yo-Yo Ma & Friends: Songs Of Joy And Peace. Do we have a source saying Krauss officially received one? --NeilN talk to me 15:23, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
- I undid myself, I'm just confused as to the rules since she definitely won for O Brother under similar circumstances. Staxringold talkcontribs 17:03, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not saying you're wrong as most sources give her 27 wins. It's just odd that the "official" Grammy site has her at 26. --NeilN talk to me 19:31, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
- They may not update for a while, after all this most recent Grammys is still their main page (so it's not really historical). Do other artists have this year's results listed (say Beyonce)? Staxringold talkcontribs 22:48, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

The Grammy winners search is fully up to date as of this year's telecast. Yo Yo Ma's project had many featured artists. She got album of the year for O Brother Where Art Throu because it was album of the year and on that album it was many artists who took part in it. The grammy winners search is the most reliable source. It is not wrong since its the recording academy itself. --Alextwa (talk) 16:57, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
- But that's my point, she was a featured artist on both. Why win for one but not the other? Also [2] lists her under the Artists for the "Best Classical Crossover" and notes "Award to the Artist(s) and/or to the Conductor." Staxringold talkcontribs 17:05, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Featured artists only win if its Album of the Year. As of 2008 featured artists were awarded album of the year, however in 1973, 1979 & 2002 the featured artists won due to the fact the album was not by one particular performing artist. This is only the case with alum of the year. Names that appear in parentheses (like it did on that list for 2010) do not get the award. The fact of the mater is that Alison Krauss has 26 Grammys. I don't know why the nominations list included the list of all those featured artists. My guess is that its to help voters. To win a particular album award an artist needs to be featured on 51% of the playing time on the album. This is the same deal for producers and engineers. --Alextwa (talk) 17:31, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
