Development of this page

Dose anyone want to help create a animated tv show version of this page? Fanoflionking 14:02, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

Yes I'm interested and I tried that before. I dont know how to make a table on this site yet. I'm learning but if you want to do it, I'm on board. Tropetroop29 (talk) 05:13, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

@Tropetroop29 I know how to do a table I just need help with finding shows to fill it in if anyone wants to help just message me on here or at my talk page Fanoflionking 20:09, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

I can do that part. Just let me know when you are ready to make the table. Tropetroop29 (talk) 20:13, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Here the List of animated shows by episode count I will make table bigger if need, questions should we include individual show like Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated or gourp all shows together when needed Fanoflionking 20:27, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

I made a decision to what I ask early we include a list for both Fanoflionking 12:39, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

@Tropetroop29 i am taking this conversation to the new page talk page Fanoflionking 13:37, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

@Tropetroop29 Is there anywhere we can ask for a few more people to come and help with is page Fanoflionking 13:41, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

There might be, they did have a place where people could talk. The home page might discuss that. Tropetroop29 (talk) 16:55, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

I was think we could divide the list into having a section with 100+episodes, 65-100, 26-64, 14-25, and 13 and under for the single series category because of the syndication orders.

Tropetroop29 (talk) 17:34, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

I think if we set a 100 episode limt for both list and see where we go for there Fanoflionking 21:56, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

@Tropetroop29 If we used List of animated television series we could have a look at what shows we need to include if we start at the 40s and 50s and make our way forward Fanoflionking 10:18, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

I have started to ask around to see if anyone willing to come and help us with the page Fanoflionking 11:07, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Notable

Here is a list of shows or franchises Whitch we could look at to see if they qualify for the page please add if you want people to look at Fanoflionking 11:42, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

show

franchises

Only english shows?

Is it only english shows or other language shows can be added? and what about anime shows? Panda619 (talk) 18:13, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Any language can go on the list Fanoflionking 18:21, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

The non-english animated shows listed in this List of television programs by episode count, can be added and if we add titles from this List of anime series by episode count and List of anime franchises by episode count, Its going to take up most of the rows. Panda619 (talk) 18:29, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Yes maybe if we exclude anime and just link those pages so it not dominated by anime Fanoflionking

Western Animation only, anime has its own separate page already.

Also no package or Direct to video or compilation series because they didnt have new episodes and for DVD, they didnt air on TV first and the list would just be repeated with the same episodes.

Only animated shows that aired on television with new episodes would count. Tropetroop29 (talk) 22:49, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Highlight

What would people perfoem highlight just the series like what we done previously or have a Started Broadcasting and Finished Broadcasting? We do not need both Fanoflionking 08:23, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Highlight "currently in production" and do we really need a seasons column ?, since different shows has different amount of episodes each seasons, I don't know what information it provides. Panda619 (talk) 12:25, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

I would prefer highlight as well, we do need seasons because if two or more show than we can do it by season for example danger mouse and postman pat have the same number of episodes but DM have more seasons so we put it above Fanoflionking 12:47, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Why removed ? Panda619 (talk) 23:47, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

@Fanoflionking: why did you remove Started Broadcasting and Finished Broadcasting columns ? Panda619 (talk) 23:05, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Wait I think we both got misunderstood, when you asked what would people prefer highlight just the series or have a Started Broadcasting and Finished Broadcasting, I meant Highlight "currently in production" in the Finished Broadcasting column, not totally remove them, It gives information of broadcast years. Panda619 (talk) 23:15, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Personally I don't think it's a good idea to added Started Broadcasting and Finished Broadcasting. There are lots of columns we could add (such as who Created the show, Genre, lead actor, etrc ) but it is all basically of topic . It does not further a reader's understanding of the topic and would just bulk out an what could be a big article. If readers really want to know that information is literally one click away if more people think we should added it than we can carrying on this conversationFanoflionking 00:06, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

Differences between the two sections

Can someone explain to me the intended purpose of the two sections on the page? I'm unclear as to what the difference is supposed to be. Useight (talk) 20:40, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

The frist one is for single series for example [[The Amazing World of Gumball, the second is for one contain Multiples shows like Scooby-Doo! (witch considered of 14 different shows such as Where Are You! and Mystery Incorporated, etrc Fanoflionking 20:58, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
Oh, okay. Thanks. Useight (talk) 21:15, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
I should also say that spin of for example shaun the sheep] is a spin off of Wallace & gromit should also count towards the franchise Fanoflionking

I think the franchises should be discussed more. Huckleberry Hound is said to have 346 episodes on this list but from where.

We need to have another section discussing what shows are in those franchises because it's getting confusing. Also the theatrical shorts arent counted as tv episodes so those shouldnt be added here. Tropetroop29 (talk) 23:04, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

No theatrical shorts are not included but if there are tv shows based on them I.E the looney tunes show and they will be included in the respect franchise as for Huckleberry Hound most of its episodes comes for its spin off franchise yogi bear (the character of yogi bear oringel in huckleberry hound back in the late 50s and had several shows of his own). Fanoflionking 23:52, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

I've already added the shows starring Yogi Bear in his own franchise. What does the Huckleberry Hound franchise include on its own? Tropetroop29 (talk) 00:51, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

Yogi Bear did spinoff of Huck but the franchise is titled after Yogi since Huck didnt have anymore series. Instead of 341 episodes for Huck which is nowhere near that I will just make Huckleberry Hound section adding Atom Ant Secret Squirrel Magilla Gorilla Wally gator and Peter Potamus to it instead. Tropetroop29 (talk) 00:57, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

Fanonflionking I decided to put Yogi Bear and Friends as the one franchise along with Huckleberry Hound episodes. It includes all of Yogi's shows + Huck, Quickdraw McGraw, New Hanna Barbera Cartoon Series/The Wally Gator Show, Magilla Gorilla, Peter Potamus, Atom Ant and Secret Squirrel Shows. They are all part of the giant franchise headed by Yogi.

It took a lot of time to do it but I managed to add all the seasons and episodes from all of those shows.

Tropetroop29 (talk) 01:06, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Fanoflionking read above. Tropetroop29 (talk) 01:07, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Franchises

For the list if a series is a part of a franchise, dont add the series to the single series list, that's repeating the same show over again. Tropetroop29 (talk) 00:35, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

@Tropetroop29 They are still individuals show that have the right number and below on the top list just because they are also out of a franchises dose not make it any less of a achievement Fanoflionking 07:38, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

I have add some back. Can you return the rest P+T Fanoflionking 08:00, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

Move

I planing on moving the page to mainspace tomorrow evening is a here any changes that need to be moved to the before it is done Fanoflionking 09:08, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

moved complete Fanoflionking 14:27, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
I renamed the article to be more consistent with the others in the list here: List_of_animated_television_series. Useight (talk) 18:03, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

Mickey tunes

recently Mickey Mouse and Looney tunes has removed beacuse of the folwing qutos beacuse of the flowlling "not really a thing" "hard to count episodes when so many are made of different combinations of shorts" .

Mickey and friends is what the franxhise is see List of highest-grossing media franchises witch count them as the same.

loony tunes were caulter as the shows and not the thertical shorts and should be added back or at the the very least discte Fanoflionking 23:51, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

Keeping the list at 100

@Elvorix: can we keep these lists at 100 the more you added the easier it is for someone to added a show that should not be on the page 92.236.253.249 (talk) 12:00, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Thomas and Friends

Thomas and Friends really shouldn't be ranked as high as it is. The show has 24 seasons and 584 episodes total, but the first 12 seasons and 309 episodes were not animated, they were filmed using live action models. As a result, it feels inaccurate to have it so high with the list currently counting all 584 episodes.

Might I recommend only counting the animated seasons and episodes? That would mean the 12 most recent seasons with 275 episodes being created with animation, which is still more than deserving on being on this list at a lower rank. Granted this is still iffy because for several for hose later 12 seasons, a hybrid of live-action and animation was used. Regardless, I think 275 should be the baseline. We can debate whether that number should be further reduced but I'll edit in episode count now on the list only counting 12 seasons and 275 episodes.

Thanks, CookieCrumbles15 (talk) 07:24, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

As long as 75% of it was animated and majority of the main characters then it animated (not a live action/animated) can we find any sources for this 82.132.213.144 (talk) 16:56, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
add Japanese shows. 2607:FEA8:1EA0:89B0:38CB:E88D:ECBC:1B4B (talk) 21:56, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
Here's the source the Thomas Wikipedia page is used for the shift to CGI (although it doesn't really provide much detail). [1] That's when animation became the primary medium of production. Seasons 1-11 where 99.9% live action. The only grey area is season 12, which used CGI to animate people and the faces on models. Still, I would definitely say that the majority of the show still used live action at this point.

Missing shows

Many anime shows like One Piece, are missing from this list. 220.245.175.147 (talk) 10:14, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Agreed https://screenrant.com/all-time-longest-running-anime/ has a short list of series, all of which would fit high on this list. 2001:2002:51E9:F241:456D:6178:BCDF:27B8 (talk) 07:21, 10 June 2023 (UTC)

Why does this exclude anime?

Skimming through the archive of this talk page, I didn't see a very substantial discussion on why anime is excluded from this list. Is anime not animated television?

I think there doesn't need to be a complete merge of List of anime series by episode count and this page, but I think this page should include the content from that page. toobigtokale (talk) 02:33, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

Space Ghost Inaccuracy?

I'm not sure whether the franchise for "Space Ghost" extends to that many seasons and episodes. It seems from a cursory review of the Space Ghost standalone article that this may be incorrect. 73.169.71.205 (talk) 17:47, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Yeah, that looks to be too high. --Meester Tweester (talk) 22:37, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
