Col ...means what?

Many names listed have a Col listed after them. What's that mean please? Cramyourspam (talk) 16:56, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

"Col" is short for the "College of Arts & Sciences" HooDatHooDat 22 February 2015 — Preceding undated comment added 07:58, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Inclusion criteria

Anyone considering adding an alum to this list should keep in mind the following from the Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists) guideline:

"Ideally each entry on the list should have a Wikipedia article but this is not required if it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future."

To test the reasonableness of your expectations, you may want to create the article on the person first and then add it to this list. -Tjarrett (talk) 18:38, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

We should implement exclusion criteria for alumni associated with discrimination, bigotry and inciting violence directly on our Grounds, as these actions violate the core values of the University of Virginia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.31.99.18 (talk) 22:13, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

And censorship is not a "core value" of UVA either. An encyclopedia references all types information. We have inclusion criteria as well as exclusion criteria but we don't exclude individuals because of their views. See WP:CENSORED for more information. CBS527Talk 01:15, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Faculty

The section says alumni, but it includes several faculty- about 11; so my question is, should we change it from alumni to just people in general? Because it seems a lot of work to create a separate section for 11 faculty members.

The selection of 11 faculty who are not alumni is extremely haphazard and incomplete. The same is true for the Board of Visitors section. Infamous recent rector Helen Dragas is mentioned, but not many of the more prominent rectors before her, nor other well-known former and current members of the Board of Visitors. I suggest removal of this section as well as removal of the 11 non-alumni faculty, and renaming the article "List of University of Virginia Alumni". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fredv (talkcontribs) 19:18, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

I just added a subsection for faculty, even before seeing your comment here. While many are missing, I don't see the point in deleting the existing information, esp. since it includes some of the most notable faculty (the Nobel Prize winners). I'm sure that others will get added soon--as a general rule, college students and university affiliates are prone to add to Wikipedia. ;o) --Ibn Battuta (talk) 17:19, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
