Episode notability

[edit]

All of the episodes of this series fail the notability guidelines for television episodes. The way for these articles to be improved is through the inclusion of real-world information from reliable sources to assert notability. That is unlikely to happen, and these only have certain bad aspects (though all may not apply) like containing overly long or one sentence plot summaries, trivia, and quotes. Per that, they need to be a small part of this list.

If there are no objections, these will be redirected soon. Otherwise, discussion will take place here. Please remember that this is not a vote. If you like the information, that's fine and dandy, but your opinion doesn't really count towards anything. The only opinions that do count are ones that that lean towards the inclusion of real world information. TTN 22:37, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Against - I think they are fine how they are as they are good and consise articles that stand well alone. Mathewignash 00:32, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:EPISODE. TTN 00:35, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Against - Yeah, yeah. That's BS. Quote policy all you want if it makes you feel special. A summary of a "real world" television episode is as valid as anything else on here. The appeal of Wikipedia is that you can find information on anything. Limiting the information available on here (and that is what you're doing) makes Wikipedia LESS useful, less user-oriented, and in the end, fewer people will use it. These kinds of grumpy, small-minded rules just show the powers behind Wikipedia being miserly. ShotgunBlues42 (talk) 15:56, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no real opinion about the whole "real world" argument, but could we at least not link episode titles to things that have absolutely nothing to do with them (e.g. Countdown to Extinction links to a Megadeth album).--76.22.28.203 (talk) 02:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There might be some hidden real world information in g1 episodes.eg. someone born 11/12/1972 watching on 11/12/1985 may not realize the search for alpha Trion that words can be translated into numbers and what are the odds of that person at the age of 18 meeting a girlfriend that has a yellow punch bug .or having a niece born on 11/12/1987.just a few of many strange coincidences. Episode Order

[edit]

Someone could please put back the "correct view order" ? Maybe it wasnt all correct, but was a major guideline, and i had going by that without any great trouble in show´s sequel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.3.18.77 (talk) 01:13, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'm not sure where that order came from, but I included the production numbers in the new tables if that's what it was going by. JoeD80 (talk) 20:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is also a "recommended chronological viewing order." It may not come from any official source, but fans have, over the years, worked out the "correct" order the series should be viewed in - ie, placing the origin of a character before his appearance in a "later" episode. This information seems to have been removed. --Aalgar (talk) 14:41, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that was my fault. When I converted the list to tables I forgot to put that order back in. That was unintentional on my part. But I also had the impression it was based on production order. I'm restoring it now. The list is in air-date order but I've changed all the numbers. Maybe it will make more sense to change it to this order? JoeD80 (talk) 20:05, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In season 3 Dark Awakening aired right before Return of Optimus Prime. I still have it recorded on vhs and after Dark Awakening it says. "What happens to Optimus Prime? Join us tomorrow for 'The Return of Optimus Prime'". If you watch the episodes it is obvious they are supposed to be in that order too —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.91.142.131 (talk) 17:11, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is confusing because it says it is in chronological order - but season 1 is not if you look at the dates

98.213.117.127 (talk) 07:35, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dark Awakening was repeated with that line dubbed on, it appeared earlier in the season. Most if not all home entertainment releases use the original version and something approaching the placing.
Does anyone have a reliable source (not IMDb) for the airdates? The links make reference to listings but there are all manner of orders for the episodes and even the DVDs don't match. Timrollpickering (talk) 15:58, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why, I see a disorder? Ep 16 some where else, why? I conside it re arranging. Utkarsh555 (talk) 15:16, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Revisiting "episode order" and production codes

[edit]

There is still an issue with the "Order #" column. Season 2's "Aerial Assault" is currently listed as #42 in the story order for that season; but it features the Combaticons who were only introduced in "Starscream's Brigade" - currently listed as #46. "Aerial Assault" should be moved to at least #46. 109.67.40.36 (talk) 04:48, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK, once again, just to review – episodes in episode tables are always listed in (first) broadcast order. Production codes are usually included as they generally show the "correct story order" – however, the production code numbers should actually be sourced to something, and at this article they are unsourced. This is a problem.
However, by far the bigger problem is this "Order #" column – this column is not sourced to anything, and looks likely to be pure WP:Original research from an IP editor (apparently added in Jan. 2017). Unless someone can produce a source for this "Order #" column, I intend to remove it from the article, as unsourced WP:OR. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:59, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not actually "ordered chronologically by broadcast date"

[edit]

The text says that “the episodes are ordered chronologically by broadcast date”, but there are few towards the end whose reported "No. overall" does not actually match if that were so:

Production Codes

[edit]

The Production Codes aren't arbitrary numbers that line up with whatever episode order people think the episodes they should go in; they are numbers that are registered with the episodes themselves. JoeD80 (talk) 13:31, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What ever happened to 700-14 and 700-15? Were they scripted but never produced? 73.70.13.107 (talk) 01:01, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Season 3 finale date?

[edit]

There appears to be a date conflict in this list with regards to when Transformers season 3 ended. In the 'Series overview' table the season finale is stated as March 3, 1987, but in the list of actual season 3 episodes a different date is implied. The two part The Return of Optimus Prime is listed as having aired February 24th and 25th, but other sources claim it aired March 2nd and 3rd. Which set of dates is the correct one?

It would appear the early date in February is more accurate, at least according to this archived video: [1]:

Thought it best to verify this before changing the date in the article. --Apple2gs (talk) 01:02, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No one has commented on this in over a week so I made the date change in the table from March 3, 1987 -> February 25, 1987. If this is incorrect, please feel free to revert the edit (and discuss the reasons why here).--Apple2gs (talk) 04:09, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aerial Assault

[edit]

The page states that "The episodes are ordered chronologically by broadcast date" but, in this case, shouldn't Aerial Assault be episode 41 of season 2 instead of episode 48, since it aired on December 10, 1985 (before Masquerade, which aired on December 16)? Or maybe the dates are wrong? WGC (talk) 20:52, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think this list has a lot of issues. I've never spent the time to go through to make sure it's organized by broadcast air date. It would also be nice if the actual prod. codes could be determined and sourced... --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:20, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
