Ongoing ratings, annual performance

Does anyone have access to data on the ratings this series is generating in its various viewing markets? And then how is the series trending long term? Is it doing better now - and is more popular now - w/ the viewership than it was five years ago, for example? Or what is considered the "best" season thus far, with the most compelling incidents and storylines? Has there been any decrease in the viewership in 2012-13, for example, owing to their being a dearth of interesting/exciting/deadly air crashes, or are the producers able to taxi-out equally engaging incidents? Any assessment/analysis of the long-term performance of the show and variances in annual/seasonal "quality" would be appreciated to know thanks! Azx2 01:43, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

S11E6 - Turning Point's cause was not confirmed

As said in the movie around 37m40s, "Probable cause is fatigue failure of the Lower power control module", "[...] but the root cause of the failure is never found". Special Compilation Episode

How many accidents will be in season 13 episode 11? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.226.22 (talk) 17:54, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

That is one of the greatest mysteries of Humanity. No one knows. So far, no one was told that, therefore, it's impossible to know. -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Wanna talk? See my efforts? 07:35, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Season 13 Episodes

Recently announced by Cineflix Rights. Interesting to see the "Special Compilation Episode". Could this be the final season? Hopefully not, it is doing well in the ratings. Anywhere here is the link before William takes it down.. Ha ha. http://s3.amazonaws.com/cflx-videos/int/assets/401/Mayday_13.pdf Qantasplanes (talk) 10:49, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

It said on the Wikipedia of TWA Flight 800 that the "Special Compilation Episode" will do that crash. So what do you think Qantasplanes? Are they doing TWA 800 as the "Special Compilation Episode"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.105.74.120 (talk) 21:56, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Nope, just some false info by some anonymous IP edit. Qantasplanes (talk) 06:22, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

I would assume the "Special Compilation Episode" might be the series's 100th episode... They're about due for it. Paris1127 (talk) 12:07, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Agreed. Never believe in IP edits. Qantasplanes (talk) 05:45, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

I never believe in IP edits too. They so annoying. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.105.74.120 (talk) 10:17, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
So what's the Special Compilation Episode about then? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.105.74.120 (talk) 13:17, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Maybe you should create an account considering you are an IP (anonymous). Anyway, that episode should be about incidents from past seasons. Qantasplanes (talk) 05:04, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

I think it will be the final episode, and they may review the main causes of the crashes. But it would still be a pity that they would finish the series. I liked it so much... However, not being that, there would be no reason for a Special Episode Compilation. And, if it says "Special Episode Compilation", why would it be TWA 800? One can obviously see it's no specific crash. Obviously, the guy who said that was lying. -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Wanna talk? See my efforts? 22:04, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Three possibilities, the show would end (hopefully not, it's a great and informative) show, it's to celebrate the 100th episode or it's just another Science of Disaster episode. Qantasplanes (talk) 05:00, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Right now, the page shows that the 100th episode will be during Season 13, but that it will be another crash. This is, of course, subject to change. I wouldn't be shocked if they move the compilation to episode 100. Perhaps it might have a behind the scenes section? I too hope it isn't going off the air. Paris1127 (talk) 19:13, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Do you know what the Special Compilation Episode will be about? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.226.22 (talk) 14:52, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
I've noticed something I might consider at least peculiar. If you do not count with the Crash Scene Investigation and the Science of Disaster episodes, the Compilation will be the 101st episode. It may be the end of Mayday, with 100 episodes about plane crashes. -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Wanna talk? See my efforts? 14:32, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

It could also be another special episode (Science of Disaster). Maybe it the show would go on, which is great news Qantasplanes (talk) 06:55, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Qantas, we're in a crisis... Maybe those guys are running out of money, and they're using this 100th episode milestone to make a final episode. But... not all is lost! What about Seconds From Disaster? Do you recall how, after the 3rd season, the show was suspended? I don't, because I've only started to watch it quite recently... Yet it restarted a few years later... Why shouldn't the same thing happen with Mayday? -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Wanna talk? See my efforts? 21:18, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Hmm your probably right, maybe it will go on to hiatus for a couple of years but still hoping it will be another Science of Disaster episode, maybe Terrorism or Fires? Dunno Qantasplanes (talk) 08:33, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, looking back at those specials, I'd say c'est dommage that only some of them were made... "Ripped Apart", "Fatal Flaw", "Who's Flying the Plane?", "System Breakdown" and "Cruel Skies" aren't the only causes for plane crashes... And why only 3 CSIs (Crash Scene Investigations)? What else can I say? C'est dommage, c'est dommage... -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Wanna talk? See my efforts? 19:26, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Aircraft types

Another matter... What aircraft types should we use? I've spotted that the article is not consistent in using aircraft types, be it generic (e.g. Boeing 737-200) or specific (Boeing 737-222). I think we ought to agree on one type and then apply it to all episodes in each section. What's your opinion on that Qantasplanes? FonEengIneeR7 talk 16:18, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

We dont normally use the Boeing customer or Airbus engine codes when we refer to aircraft types. MilborneOne (talk) 19:25, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

Qantasplanes is right, William. We just get episode lists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.26.200.8 (talk) 14:47, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

I removed the part ' but experts involved in an earlier investigation dispute this conclusion, stating that wreckage points towards a bomb explosion within the fuselage.' Why did I do this? The source may fail WP:RS. We don't know anything about the website or the author of this report. He writes 'In July 1992 the author was asked to submit a report on the aircraft wreckage recovered.' Was he involved in the earlier investigation. This needs to be looked into for the meantime. If someone gets a reliable source, it can go back up. Remember also this is just an episode guide. We do summaries, more full fledged descriptions of what may or may not have happened are for the crash article....William 20:32, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Having viewed the episode this is the most prominent investigator interviewed and whose opinion the programme makers quite clearly adopt - the source is taken from the section covering his part of the investigation on the crash page. It is certainly an unusual case but if you view the episode a bomb is clearly the hypothesis advanced, but the show makes clear that controversy remains, with the reliability of the court case outcome heavily criticised. It would appear very curious then to synopsise the episode as being about a missile shootdown when the show then goes on to largely debunk that theory and conclude that a bomb was most likely (whether or not this agrees with the Italian court's recent decision). As a genuine question I'm not quite sure what source to cite for that fact other than the show itself, which I'm not sure would be reliably and permanently available online anywhere, hence why I chose to put the investigator's report to support it (the investigation team's findings having not been properly published in a formal third accident report but rather as part of a broader review of the case it seems, which apparently did not meet ICAO report standards). Table color

What about changing that dark black table color into a bit brighter dark, for example into #242833? #000 is really distracting. FonEengIneeR7 (talk) 13:31, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Good idea mate, i'll consider it. I'd like Will's opinion as well... Qantasplanes (talk) 11:07, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Understood. I'll suggest a range of colors soon. FonEengIneeR7 talk 10:41, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

What about these...?

1.#460D0D

2.#182F5F

3.#15430A

Personally, I prefer the second one. FonEengIneeR7 talk 12:17, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Me to, i'd like to see the second one. Qantasplanes (talk) 04:31, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
Hey, I totally support the change in colour! That was a great idea, really! But what about going further and changing colours according to the season of the programme? Many other articles of TV shows in Wikipedia do that. I think it might be better, although somewhat laborious. If someone doesn't mind doing it... Thanks! (BTW, am I the only one here who spells "colour" with a U? :) ) -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Talk to me! See my efforts! 16:32, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
Why hasn't anyone replied to my question yet? Was it because of my last remark? Oh, I'm sorry if I've insulted anyone... I was just a joke, and not meaning to be hurtful... I even added the smiley face!... Sorry about that. I'll stop that now. But is anyone going to say something, please?... -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Talk to me! See my efforts! 19:01, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Huh, I don't think anyone felt insulted by that... It's probabaly just because no one has seen it. Anyways, let's come back to your idea: I would not consider it to be a constructive step simply because we have 13 episodes (#14 is on its way) and thus would need 14 different colors which again would be very distracting. FonEengIneeR7 talk 09:12, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I also doubt anyone has felt insulted. I was kind of just kidding, and trying to draw someone's attention to my question, and making sure there had been no problem... But, back to my question, do you really think different many different colours are distracting? Why? I'm aware of three other shows whose Wikipedia articles for their episodes lists have different colours for different seasons—namely, The Universe, The Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family (other TV shows I like). They have no more than seven seasons, that's true, but I just thought it could be interesting to vary upon colours. But, if no one else thinks this is a good idea, I'll have no problem leaving the tables like they are now... -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Talk to me! See my efforts! 22:44, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Into the Eye of the Storm?

I can't find any mentions of this episode (S13E06) anywhere but this article. Is the information correct? It looks like a hoax. Le Grand Bleu (talk) 14:15, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Several online sources are listing it as episode 9, not episode 6, and it's listed on the Natgeo website, so it's legit, but maybe in the wrong place in the table. YSSYguy (talk) 14:41, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Season 13 descriptions

I'm not overly happy with what I have written about the Air Moorea Twotter accident. Although the info is in accordance with the investigation report, my concern is that someone unfamiliar with aircraft won't be able to understand it. Also, in the description for the Staines crash, I linked the term "droops" to Variable camber wing; again I'm not happy, but it's the best fit I could find in the existing WP articles concerning wing leading edges - at least its mentioned there, but only briefly. YSSYguy (talk) 10:21, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Somewhat surprisingly, I think they are fine... Qantasplanes (talk) 10:25, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
The WL was bothering me, so I created Droop (aircraft) to deal with that issue; and I had another go at the Twotter description. YSSYguy (talk) 23:19, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Air NZ 901 episode replacement

The reason why the Air NZ 901 episode won't air is because we already have our 10 normal season 13 episode titles. We just got the season 13 spin-off to go. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.26.95.29 (talk) 17:16, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

That's WP:OR. Cineflix is still listing the episode. To avoid this problem, we can just list episodes only when their airing is confirmed. I can see the steam coming out of Qantasplanes when he reads that suggestion of mine....William 18:26, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

What about hiding the causes?

Hello, people! I was wondering this... Call me stupid, but I like to watch Mayday documentaries without knowing, at first, the cause of the crash I'm going to watch, so the result of the investigation can be a surprise for me, but this list of episodes often includes the causes of the disasters, so it kinda breaks that suspense... You get me? I think maybe we should not tell here the causes of the crashes, so people can get a look into the list of episodes, without knowing, at first, the cause. If they do wanna know them without watching the show, they can always check out the Wikipedia page about it. So, what do you folks think? Should we? -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Wanna talk? See my efforts? 17:57, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

See WP:Spoiler. Qantasplanes (talk) 10:38, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

OK, I've seen it, thanks. Honestly, I'm in favor of making spoiler warnings in Wikipedia, if not hiding those sentences that can spoil something, but it does look like I'm part of a minority. OK, let's then leave things as they are... -- Sim(ã)o(n) * Wanna talk? See my efforts? 21:00, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

My preference is not to add spoiler warnings but rather to delete the spoilers. In the context of this article, this renders moot the arguments and guideline against spoiler warnings. To my knowledge, there is no Wiki guideline that requires the inclusion of spoilers. I'm with the OP, these shows go out of their way to keep you in suspense for more than half of each episode, and these spoilers definitely detract from my enjoyment. While they admittedly have an upside, their downside is greater, imo. Mandruss (talk) 01:53, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Season 3 Episode Order

I believe there may be a mistake in the order of the last few episodes in Season 3. According to the DVD release and on iTunes the episode order is as follows:

9. Kid in the Cockpit

10. Head-On Collision

11. Collision Course

12. Runway Train

Every other episode in the list is exactly as it is shown in the DVDs/iTunes expect for those episodes above. Does anyone know why the episodes were listed differently in the article and would I be correct in assuming that the order listed in iTunes is the correct order?

Speculated Season 14 Episode List

This speculative listing comes from a youtube page run by someone using the identifier "Air Crash Investigations", they don't give a source but has anyone been able to find a more firm one, especially as Air New Zealand Flight 901 is not on the list?

Air Crash Investigation: Season 14 (Episodes)

Graham1973 (talk) 09:06, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

The person who posted this at Youtube says his sources for it included Linkedin, Wikipedia, Imdb. Wikipedia fails per WP:Circular that says you can't use WP as a source. Linkedin and Imdb fail WP:RS. I cited up above the exact WP page that says Imdb can't be used as a reference.
Also note I've twice recently, here[4] and here[5], deleted attempts to be up unsourced season 14 episodes. This page has a long history[6] of people trying to put up their wishlists up here. We have had two cases of people making up crashes. Check this edit[7]] or this AFD[8]. The faux episode count is approximately 30.
Without a WP:RS that Youtube wish list will not be allowed up on the article....William 17:24, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
Fair enough, but that is why I posted it to the talk page rather then the main page, as it is only the Varig incident can be considered as confirmed as part of the season since we have a press release from the company hired to shoot the 'location footage' confirming it. I suppose we will have to wait until the end of July when filming finishes. Graham1973 (talk) 02:11, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
I just deleted a list of season 14 episodes once again. Oh they had references, but each link went back to the article on the crash. That obviously violates WP:CIRCULAR and no link to any other source was given. So they were removed again. It did look like that You tube list....William 21:57, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
Ciniflix are now listing the 14th Season on their Mayday frontpage.Graham1973 (talk) 02:34, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
Been trying various searches to see if Ciniflix has posted a list of what is covered this season, so far no luck.Graham1973 (talk) 10:02, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Still have not located a concrete listing of Season 14 episodes. The youtube video giving a speculated list has been updated so that it now says were the poster got them, there is also a lot of speculation as to why there is no concrete list from Ciniflix yet.Graham1973 (talk) 03:12, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Maybe they won't release a sheet this year. TheAirplaneGuy (talk) 10:49, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Found a site called OVGuide which has on it a listing similar to the one in my original post OVGuide - Air Crash Investigations Season 14, but only has nine episodes and I have no idea if this is an "anyone can edit" setup.Graham1973 (talk) 15:07, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Definitely bogus, there is no final investigation report to work from for that incident, though they did do that with the Air Transat incident. Anyone had luck in finding a more authoritative listing.Graham1973 (talk) 14:18, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Nope not yet. TheAirplaneGuy (talk) 15:00, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
There was a plane crash in Cuba a few years ago and less than a week later some editor had this article saying there would be an episode on that crash. What's the saying- History always repeats itself?...William 23:57, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Looking at the current release list for 14 it would seem that whoever was behind that youtube channel either guessed right or had inside sources. Interesting that episode 9 is 'in the air' so to speak. I wonder if that is going to turn out to be the Air New Zealand Flight 901 episode that disappeared from last season.Graham1973 (talk) 11:23, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

Death in the arctic aircraft

It recently got put on the wiki page that the aircraft type in S14E10 is a Boeing 777-200ER. If it is true that that episode is First air 6560, than its wrong. Also, no 777's have crashed in the arctic region. 111.69.108.130 (talk) 18:35, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

There were no 777 accidents in the Arctic. Episode 10 is possibly First Air 6560. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.236.183 (talk) 18:36, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

I think you misunderstood me. The fact that I think is wrong is that the aircraft for that episode is a 777. I do believe that episode 10 is First Air 6560. 111.69.108.130 (talk) 18:32, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, here they are the changes I wanted:

On 6 June 1992, Copa Airlines Flight 201, a Boeing 737, flips, disintigrates in mid air and crashes into the Darien Gap 29 minutes after take off, killing all 47 people on board. The accident was caused by faulty instrument readings and several other contributing factors, including incomplete training.

On 20 August 2011, First Air Flight 6560, a charter flight, crashes near to their destination of Resolute Bay Airport, Resolute, Nunavut, Canada in poor weather conditions. Out of the 15 passengers and crew, only three survived.

I was wondering, if they didn't recognize this special episode, then the episode number count would be 129. But in this source, http://www.cineflixproductions.com/news/show/262-Cineflix-s-Mayday-Starts-Production-on-Season-15, it says 130 episodes. Unless I am mistaken, and I may very well be, I think cineflix does recognize the "Getting out Alive" (s13e11) episode. Or does cineflix count the Tenerife disaster as one of the 130 episodes? Someone enlighten me. I notice in the Season 15 section intro text, it mentions 10 or 11 episodes, but the source mentioned earlier here says only 10, shouldn't that be changed? New titles

According to Natgeo, Asiana 214 is called "Terror in San Francisco", while another unnamed flight, presumably ASA 2311, is called "Steep Impact" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.210.68.195 (talk) 22:04, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

http://natgeotv.com/uk/air-crash-investigation/about confirms this so Terror in San Francisco and Steep Impact (ASA 2311, the incident includes an astronaut and a former US senators) have been added. Thanks! Tntad (talk) 1:54, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

season 15 eps

Oh well someone can change this and find evidence for this later but these ARE the titles. S15E01: Fatal Transmission S15E02: Terror in San Francisco S15E03: High Rise Catastrophe S15E04: Fatal Delivery S15E05: Deadly Mystery

just I know for eps 1 -5. Fatal Transmission, Deadly Mystery, and Fatal Delivery are Canadian names. The rest are from Nat Geo. this is not an edit request just for your information :) If someone finds evidence for this later then go ahead, add it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ACIMayday15 (talkcontribs) 05:08, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

More season 15 eps

According to Natgeo.au there is an episode on United Express 5925 (titled "Fatal Transmission") and an episode on El Al 1862 (titled "High Rise Catastrophe"). It also shows that flight 5625 is episode 1, flight 214 is episode 2, flight 1862 is episode 3, and flight 6 is episode 4 (they seem to have mixed up the descriptions). Can someone please add this to the list? 118.210.87.73 (talk) 01:50, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

S15E01 and S15E02 air dates

Stop changing the air date for Fatal Transmission and Terror in San Francisco. http://www.natgeotv.com.au/tvguide/?day=2016-01-06 says 6 January 2016 and http://www.natgeotv.com.au/tvguide/?day=2016-01-13 says 13 January 2016 (see 8:30PM for both).

Also I think it has been discussed to not change the air dates of episodes that already aired in English unless it aired before. See previous section. Tntad (talk) 05:19, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Episode names, season 15

The 1961 Ndola United Nations DC-6 crash has been aired in Finland. The episode is called 'Deadly mission'. (not my translation, but read straight out of the screen)

Another episode that has been aired, but not listed at the moment, is called 'Edge of disaster'. The episode is about Atlantic Airways Flight 670. Hhhh80 (talk) 20:29, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

IMDB info

Should we trust the IMDB info regarding season 15? Or shall that wait?

-January 17, 2016 Marius2003Korn (talk) 20:19, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

IMDB is not permitted on the entire article since it is not a reliable source like YouTube and Dailymotion. If you find a reliable source for the information regarding S15 such as Natgeo, then it should be a decently reliable source. Keep in mind that English sources have priority.Tntad (talk) 22:48, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Australia Season 15 air-dates

Hello all, I just want to point out that the air dates should not change when the episode has already aired for the first time (from English sources like UK and Australia). The NatGeo abouts say when the episode will show on TV next, not always when the episode will first air. If you are unsure about the air date of an episode that already aired, check the TV guide of that particular country AND date to confirm. Please take this into consideration. Thank you and I hope you enjoy this seasons episodes! Tntad (talk) 01:48, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Season 14 Episode Titles

Hey all,

I am really busy ATM and maybe for a long time, but could someone change the titles for Season 14 to the Canadian names listed here: http://www.discovery.ca/Shows/Mayday Go under season 14 and they are in order from bottom to top. Thanks! Tntad (talk) 14:17, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

I agree, it's been a long time since Season 14 has aired so I think we need to change the UK titles to the usual Canadian titles with the accidents and their descriptions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.101.83.191 (talk) 15:50, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for some of the changes you've made. For next time, please don't list the cause of the episodes before the episode airs. It is not that pleasant for others. I understand you "can" make changes, but please do not change something simply because you "can". I am just asking. Thanks. Tntad (talk) 23:49, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Careening

Twice in the article the word "careering" is used. The correct word should be "careening". Could someone please correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.9.120.32 (talk) 18:50, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

I've done it, mate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MattChatt18 (talkcontribs) 09:42, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Crash of the Century

I've got a theory that might explain this 'episode'.

"Crash of the Century" is a separate series,[1] a one episode 'series/program' made in 2005 concurrently alongside Mayday (Air Disaster). It's stand-alone and 120 minutes (actual runtime closer to 128min). Someone must have figured "Since it's about a plane disaster, let's also edit it into the Mayday series with the same look and feel as any other episode." So now we also have a 60 minute (actual runtime 45:20) episode with the same Mayday format causing confusion. Here's my reasoning:

The copyright for 1x02 - Racing the Storm is: 2003, Near-Miss Productions Inc. / Near-Miss Productions (Ontario) Inc. / Galaxie Production / Media Production Services LTD. / France 5.
(Any other season uses Cineflix and Mayday with the season number fairly consistently, however season 3 has the most variability between episodes.)
The copyright for 2x01 - Blow Out is: 2004, Cineflix (Mayday 2) Productions Inc. / NF (Mayday 2) Inc. / Galaxie Production.
The copyright for "Crash of the Century" is: Galaxie Production, / Near-Miss Productions Inc. / Adéladïde Production, 2005.
The copyright for 3x14 - Crash of the Century is: 2005, Near-Miss Productions Inc. / Galaxie Productions / Adéladïde Production.

At the time, the episode typically aired at the end of season 3 (right after Ocean Landing) on Discovery Channel Canada, which is why I numbered it like this. The episode is the only one of the season to use the same copyright as the series (Near-Miss Productions) despite not being used since season 1.

Next is the title sequence: same as the early seasons but applied to the edited episode poorly. By "poorly" I mean the first second is cut off (the audio is noticably desynced) and the font for "MAYDAY" is different from the other pre-season 4 episodes.

Unique to 3x14 is the within-episode discretionary warning. DCC always has its own warning before starting/returning to the show, and never within. This one has its own at the beginning, and narrated by Bogaert.

Like all Mayday episodes, 3x14 is narrated by Bogaert. The 120min series is narrated by Halliley.

Mayday episodes in these early seasons aired on DCC with strict time constraints: 46 minutes to the second. 3x14 stands apart at 45:20 actual runtime. (These restrictions aren't present for their Air Crash counterparts.)

The title sequence does not label it as a "special", but it's also not in the official count of Mayday episodes listed by Cineflix.[2]

Other than that it's a standard Mayday episode with a teaser at the beginning (this does not exist in the "Crash of the Century" program). The early seasons don't appear to be airing at this time, and unknown if 3x14 would air again with them. I happened to have recorded these early ones... I might be the only person that has this unique episode. I don't know about copyright issues but I may be able to upload screenshots and audio clips if needed. Deadly Delay?

According to Natgeo.au, the title name for the episode on Spanair 5022 is 'Deadly Delay'. In Australia there is already an episode called Deadly Delay, Avianca 52. It seems odd to have two episodes have the same title, so I suspect that they mixed up the description just like they did with Fatal Delivery. I strongly suspect that Deadly Delay is not the title of the Spanair 5022 episode. 111.69.110.121 (talk) 18:23, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Although they're the same, they just cover different crashes. BTW, Avianca 52 was entitled Missing over New York in Canada, so i think Deadly Delay for Spanair 5022 could be for Canada when we find a source for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.44.230.151 (talk) 18:40, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

I suspected that too at first, but it is the only title available for the episode. I believe that the title for Spanair Flight 5022 will be different for NatGeo UK, but until then, Deadly Delay remains.Tntad (talk) 20:20, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

UK Title for Spanair 5022 is released at https://digiguide.tv/season.asp?id=217939&sid=all. Title has been changed to Fatal Delay.

The show aired under the title of "fatal delay". Can anyone please correct that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.9.120.32 (talk) 18:49, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

When S15E07 aired in the UK on National Geographic, my Virgin Media TiVo picked it up twice so far, once with each title:
2016/03/07 21:00 - Deadly Delay (marked as NEW, so I assume this was the first UK broadcast, especially given that I have it on permanent series link)
2016/03/28 15:00 - Fatal Delay
Both episodes appeared identical in content (Spanair 5022) and neither of them carried an on-screen episode title, just to add to the fun.

Wrong Type of aircraft

Season 10 (2010)

No 69 / # 3 / Title: Pilot Betrayed

Type of aircraft:

Wrong: McDonnell Douglas MD-81 Right: McDonnell Douglas DC-9 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.85.57.231 (talk) 11:58, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the correction but OY-KHO is a MD-81 refer to the related article, thanks. MilborneOne (talk) 12:03, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

I'm not relying on articles, but at the episode itself. I watched the episode and referred to DC-9 not the MD-81 Please watch the episode to confirm the data.

The official Swedish accident report says it was an MD-81; Mayday is clearly wrong. YSSYguy (talk) 08:08, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

As this page mentioned in the TV series Mayday and not in airplane accidents, it would be good to place a note, that this episode indicates wrong type of airplane.

Television programs make mistakes all the time....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 13:14, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

I did not understand. Will you place the note or not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.85.57.231 (talk) 13:24, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

I suggest we don't put the note on the article because SAS 751 was an MD-81. Also point out that MD-80 aircraft are part of the DC-9 generation, but MD-81 was the OFFICIAL name for SAS 751. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MattChatt18 (talkcontribs) 17:11, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Season 16!

On http://www.natgeotv.com.au/tv/air-crash-investigation/episodes.aspx, the first 3 episodes of season 16 and their air dates are already up. On 12 May 2016 episode 2, titled "Inside 9/11: The Pentagon Attack" features American Airlines Flight 77 and airs at 8:30pm in Australia and New Zealand. On 19 May 2016 episode 3, titled "Disaster at Tenerife", features an unspecified accident. On 26 May 2016 episode 4, titled "Deadly Detail", features an unspecified accident. Also, on http://www.natgeotv.com.au/tv/air-crash-investigation/episodes.aspx?series=15, episode 1 is titled "Deadly Silence" and features the 1999 South Dakota Learjet crash. These need to be added to the page since they are now confirmed. 111.69.108.236 (talk) 07:58, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

It's a little thin to be putting in the first two into the article at the moment because at least one of them has been done before as 'Crash of Century'. We don't have enough proof right this minute to say these are new episodes....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 13:05, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Honestly, I think that there is no doubt from the Australian NatGeo that the 1999 South Dakota Learjet crash (S16E01) and American Airlines Flight 77 (S16E02) are going to be on Season 16. It was like this for Season 15 and 14. I think the first two listed there should be put on the wikipedia article along with the NAMES of the other two along with all 4 airdates. I suspect that S16E03 is the Tenerife accident while S16E04 is China Airlines Flight 120. Although the Tenerife accident was done for "Crash of the Century", keep in mind that it was NOT an official episode and it did not really go into much detail of the investigation. I think we should not be too hasty in dismissing this. Tntad (talk) 17:25, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
I have checked the guide for natgeo Australia on my TV at home and it says that episode 1 is airing on Thursday 5th May. I don't know why this isn't said on the website. 111.69.108.236 (talk) 19:06, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Disaster at Tenerife is a repeat of "Crash of the Century". There have been more than one air accident at Tenerife.Omega13a (talk) 05:55, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

There is a possibility that it will air on May 5th. How about we just wait until they are aired? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MattChatt18 (talkcontribs) 14:30, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

That's what I think too. Remember Wikipedia is not a cyrstall ball...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 14:35, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Still, we can add them to the list can't we? Natgeo.au has them listed as a new season, there are confirmed airdates, and also now we have video proof on YouTube. What more could you ask for? 111.69.108.236 (talk) 08:39, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

We are going to wait until there are aired, and then they will be put on the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MattChatt18 (talkcontribs) 09:40, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

I also want to point out that NatGeo Australia IS a reliable source. It was used for the past two season to determine the episodes. It does seem odd how they are starting the new season a little early, but Seasons 11 and 12 also started earlier. I don't see any reason why we should not put the first two in the page along with only the names of the 3rd and 4th. Tntad (talk) 21:58, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

NatGeo Australia has now postponed the airings just like NatGeo UK did with season 14. Although the airdates are now not known, we can still add the titles and accidents to the page. 111.69.108.236 (talk) 07:55, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Why should something be entered when the source for it isn't reliable. They said the show was going to be aired and then it wasn't. We're not a crystalball....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 09:51, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Very well then, WilliamJE. Let's just wait until Nat Geo UK has it, then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MattChatt18 (talkcontribs) 16:32, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

You can't use that as your reasoning either since NatGeo UK has been known to make the exact same errors. I don't know what your problem is. For the past 2 seasons NatGeo Australia has been a reliable source, and now you say it isn't! 111.69.108.236 (talk) 04:58, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Let's just wait until they aired and see what happens. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MattChatt18 (talkcontribs) 10:47, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

I live in New Zealand and 'Deadly Silence' just aired (7th June). It did document the Payne Stewart crash as expected. Are you happy enough to add it to the article now? 111.69.107.78 (talk) 08:44, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

It should be included in the official page if the first episode already aired. Not to mention that the NatGeoAU has also included videos of the episode. http://www.nationalgeographic.com.au/tv/air-crash-investigation/videos.aspx. Tntad (talk) 16:01, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
