- I deleted your post, which is a copyright violation as CC-BY-NC licences are incompatible with Wikipeda. So what exactly was your point? Perhaps you think that consensus or the need to abide by the five pillars of Wikipedia applies to you? --Biker Biker (talk) 14:15, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- And I deleted your copyright violation for a second time. --Biker Biker (talk) 14:21, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- And you also posted an incorrect copyvio template to MY talk page. Small hint: it isn't "without permission" if I post the license information that GIVES permission RIGHT ON IT.
- One wonders: do you EVER intend to make any substantive contributions to the content of this article, or are you just going to delete stuff other people contribute and whine to User:Tedder when you can't get your own way?
- If you can't contribute meaningful content to this article, perhaps you could spend your time reading this article and pondering your role in it instead: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=138983240

- The copyright violation was clear and the warning was justified, material released under a CC no commericlal use licence is not acceptable on Wikipedia. I'm surprised the truth hurt your feelings so much, but thanks for the chuckle.--Biker Biker (talk) 14:35, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Ooh, now that was very CLEVER, the way you very imaginatively said the very same thing about me as I just said about you. Very original. Tell me: do you feel this article is now a stronger, better reference for having done that? OldMan (talk) 14:43, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Please quit with this stuff about some song. Don't know what you're talking about. Don't care.
It makes no sense to include colors on a list like this because there isn't room to include a full explanation of why the colors are worth mentioning. See WP:MC-MOS and WP:WPACT -- you need to cite a source for why minor trim differences matter. Sometimes they matter, if a source says so and tell us what about them matters. Individual articles about a bike would be the place to include colors and the justification for including them.
As far as Buell and MV Agusta... what? why? Please explain. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 14:45, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- If we try to imply, "produced by the [legal entity that is the incorporated Harley-Davidson Motor Company]," that includes a WIDE variety of motorcycles that do not bear the Harley-Davidson brand. If instead we try to imply, "produced [and marketed and labeled] under the Harley-Davidson NAME," then that requires different wording. Which of these two options does this article pursue? Do you intend to add other brands under the historical Harley umbrella? If so, add them. If not, aim for the latter implication when introducing this article. OldMan (talk) 14:56, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- If I just say "Harley-Davidson" that means, in ordinary English, Harley-Davison. Not Buell or Aermacchi. If I say "Harley-Davidson Corporation" or Harley-Davidson Motor Company or AMF whatever their official, legal name is (or was), then it's clear I'm talking about the corporate parent. The ordinary reader is not going to read "Harley-Davidson" to mean the corporate parent. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a legal journal, nor any other kind of specialist tome. An encyclopedia is not that technical.
But it would be good to expand the intro of the list to fully describe what is and isn't on the list, and why. That applies to any list. Red links to List of Buell motorcycles and List of MV Agustsa motorcycles and List of Aermacchi motorcycles might be appropriate. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 15:34, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Which model is the Harley-Davidson Model B?
[edit]Which model over the page is a Harley-Davidson Model B (circa 1926-9). A single cylinder engine. Thanks, --Bridge Boy (talk) 18:32, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
To which war does "Pre-war" refer?
[edit]I want to add the Harley-Davidson Model W to this list, but I'm not sure where it fits. All the motorcycles in "Pre-war" are from before World War I; all the other bikes except the early 45s are from after World War II. The Model W was from between the world wars.
Does "Pre-war" mean before WWI or before WWII? Or is it related to some other war entirely?
Sincerely, SamBlob (talk) 03:23, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
This list seems woefully incorrect for the WWII-era and early postwar.
There's no mention of the 74cu FL from 1941-1947 inclusive, or it's smaller 45cu 193x-195x UL, both with their distinctive Overhead Valve rocker covers known colloquially as the "knucklehead",
also, engine displacements are erratic - they alternate between sae and metric, and make no reference to "Shovelhead" "Panhead" etc, as various other rocker designs are colloquially known. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.48.41.45 (talk) 09:04, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
