Private Ray Charles?

Bare bones article
Needs updates! --Jecrell 01:06, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- No sense in making a whole page for characters if we're not going to put all the information on it. VideoGameGuy, 7:06PM, November 27, 2006.
- It's not finished, all the information will be posted for each individual character and creature. There's more than enough source material to go on for this page as well. Do not be so quick to condemn it while it's a work in progress. --Jecrell 02:09, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Im sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out like that. -- VideoGameGuy, 8:37AM, November 27, 2006.
- I say that this would make sense, i mean, no point in making seperate pages for characters when the pages contain very little information.-- General RAAM, 11:54AM, January 4, 2007

- I dont get it, we made separate pages for all the members of Delta Squad, but most of the information is repeated. Are the separate pages really necessary? VideoGameGuy 05:13, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Locust Queen (Myrrah)
This section is mostly speculative, but apparently if you actually take the time to look at the game's ending credits you will find the character name Myrrah. People on the Epic Games forums have been calling her the Locust Queen, but no official or cit able information really exists to prove the direct connection between them --Jecrell 08:11, 28 November 2006 (UTC).
On the IMDB profile for Gears of War, the Queen and Myrrah are listed as two different characters with two different voice actors. I think that may confirm that the voice heard is the Queen, but who would Myrrah be? --70.232.141.27 04:39, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- IMDB is crap. -- 12.226.10.45 01:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- If that's the case, then IMDB must be rather slow. I instantly recgonised Carolyn Seymour's voice as she had voiced the character Mon Mothma from numerous Star Wars video games, and she's listed in the credits as Myrrah. There is definately a Locust Queen, as we hear the Boomers and RAAM reference her, though wether or not she is Myrrah remains to be seen. If they are seperate characters, then the Queen has never spoken at all. Ever. Just to clarify, I do think Myrrah is the Queen, incase you were thinking otherwise. It's strongly implied that she is in her dialogue. I just think it'd be best not to make any final conclusions and just speculate on the possibilities until an official source confirms otherwise. Character portraits
I'm not sure how to fix this, but the character portraits shouldn't be staggered. It looks neater in theory, but it messes up the rest of the sections and makes it difficult to read. --Scottie theNerd 12:06, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think if you have the text size smaller in your browser the images will form gaps in the article. --Jecrell 15:16, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- I tried some changes to eliminate the gaps for the time being. --Jecrell 04:53, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- That looks much better. --Scottie theNerd 04:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
ok just addition this is gonna be a 3 part game, so i am not sure if we are gonna fight this so called locust queen in the second one or the third, if the second its probably just gonna be a all out brawl in the 3rd so anyone with info on that contact me at gabrielson753@aim.com
Theron Guard
The Theron Guard have not been proven to be a different specie. It appears they are a subspecie of the Drone, like the Berserker (female variation) and Boomer. Just because these creatures have different voices and wear leather robes does not mean they are part of a different racial division. --Jecrell 21:05, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
The Theron Guard are also never referred to as "Torques" in-game. Thus "Torque" is a misnomer that should be replaced with Theron Guard. The entry for "Torque" even refers to them as Theron Guard. Gore Ghoul 19:44, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think that this claim is erroneous. For starters, at the pumping station, you can hear the Gears screaming about how the Guards are tougher and faster than Drones. Also, when choosing them as your default Locust player model for online modes, they are listed as the toughest warriors "bred" in the hive. There is more evidence to suggest they are distinct than there is to suggest they are physiologically similar, only trained better. Michael.A.Anthony 23:35, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
^Agreeing with above, Theron are the same species as Drones, the easiest way to compare them is like race, blacks and asians, theron and grubs.
Stop removing the M"u"tants subsection
The Locust Horde is divided appropriately between the leaders, the Drone race, and the various Mutants that accompany it. I am tired of readding and fixing this issue constantly. Someone either entirely removes the Mutant section, thus somehow deciding to list a Brumak as a Drone, or someone just entirely breaks the whole article's structure over it. The way it is done now is just fine. Please stop ruining the structure of the article. --Jecrell 00:32, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- In fairness, do you have proof that the locusts are mutants, and not just aliens, or some sort of colony? I mean, it's pretty clear to everyone that Brumaks Drones are distinct, and a lot of what you continue writing seems really, really, absurdly speculative; it seems so speculative, in fact, that without citation, I don't think it belongs on this page. Michael.A.Anthony 23:32, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- In fairness, there is no proof as to what the Locusts are. HOWEVER! Destroyed Beauty gives an extensive insight into the Locusts. For instance, in the section called "WHAT ARE THE LOCUSTS" there is a line in there that says, "Most scientists believe they're a mutated version of Sera's native life forms." Of course it is followed by, "A minority claim they're aliens. Ask any Gear and they'll tell you the Locust come straight from hell." Adding onto mutants there is this to say about creatures like the Brumak: "DNA analysis indicates these were bred by the Locust Horde from smaller native apes." BY all means, the idea of mutants should not be excluded. At the same time, it should not be stated as the absolute origin to them. Rather just a popular belief by Sera's scientists. Reminder
This is a wikipedia article, which means it is free to be edited by anyone else on this website. As long as the changes done to it aren't devastating than no one else should have to try to keep their article currently in the form they see as most desireable. If you are tired of people changing "your" article than maybe you should make your own web-page about this article and change it to anyway you see fit, and hey it would sure be a hell of alot easier to maintain to the way of your liking.
- The article is far from perfect; it needs a lot of editing. Proper restructuring is definitely on the table. I was frustrated when I wrote on this talk page about the breaking of structure. It's a very debatable subject on how this article is put together, but there's really no discussion to be had here; It feels much like a ghost town. Also, please register an account so that you can sign your statements. I feel strange to receive hit & run criticism by an unknown entity. --Jecrell 05:16, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
I see his point. As long as it abides by the rules, it doesn't have to be changed unless it is truly shoddy and more people than you think so. Neospawn 01:49, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

- Carmine is pretty cool, i like playing as him in versus matches. it's just something about his helmet and armor that makes him awesome. Ninjaspwnpirates (talk) 01:44, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Not a strategy guide...
This page should provide information about characters and enemies, and that alone. This should not provide strategies as to how to kill said enemies; remember, this isn't GameFAQs. Someone should fix this. Illcendiary 22:00, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is a place for people to be educated or be informed about everything.
Thus the strategy will help ongoing people in their readings.
- No, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and policies govern the scope of information to be presented in articles, as outlined in the WP:NOT policy. Just because it's useful doesn't mean Wikipedia is interested in it. --Scottie theNerd 04:25, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
WHOever said carmine was not the coolest guy in the game then he is wrong, carmine is way the coolest cuz of his sweet armor and voice
I will agree that Carmine was cool and shouldn't have died, at least not in the way he did, but what does it have to do with this discussion? Neospawn 01:50, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

A whole bunch of little tidy-ups
I fix a few examples of atrocious grammar, tidied up the Col. Hoffman paragraph and the Queen paragraph, changed the Caption on the picture of the Boomer to "Boomer (right)" from "Boner(right)", and removed the Shotgun from the list of Locust weapons (since it is listed in the manual as a COG weapon).
Michael.A.Anthony 23:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I went on to do some more housekeeping, including removing gems like "The Torqe [sic] Bows are also good for hitting an enemy because the weapon is made of very sharp metal which can destroy something in one blow." Sharp metal. And not the high explosive mentioned in the preceeding sentence. Indeed. Michael.A.Anthony 23:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Messed up
Ugh. Fixed some articles that had so much misinformation and opinion in them, you'd swear that they were made by some 9-year old drug addict that just got GOW for Christmas. I mean, seriously, "Boomers might even become your favorite enemy"?! "Berzerkers are also called 'Big Mamas' because they're huge and are female"?! "General RAAM is also called 'Really Angry Ass Monkey' by a designer of the game."?! Who the hell types this stuff?! I removed these and other major errors from the article. - Anonymus, February 12
Domingo
Someone decided to change Dom's name to "Domingo" a bunch of times throughout the article. I unded it, but don't do it again. - Anonymous, February 16
Other characters' demises?
Under Private Carmine's description is a list of other Gears killed over the course of the game. I personally think that Rojas should be removed from the "Other Members" list and put in the "Other Killed Characters" list. You only see his corpse briefly in the game, and he is only briefly mentioned twice.
Also, the dead Gear you see near the beginning of Act 1 should be put in the "Other Characters' Demises" list. In case you can't remember, you see him when you are crossing a bridge and entering a building, when you are prompted to press the Y button. His body is laying on the ground next to a hole. What are your thoughts on these two issues? Thieflordgamer of Xbox Live 19:28, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- There are more than a few corpses of Gears throughout the game. Some of which don't have you look on them with the Y button. Such as Act 1: Fish in a Barrel where you are attacked by Locusts from 4 Emergence Holes. There are bodies in the fountain that you take cover in. That's just naming on instance out of many. So by all means, you can start a list about dead soldiers you see throughout the game, but I think there should only be a list of corpses with Names encountered throughout the game. That doesn't include a whole lot. Carmine, Rojas, and Kim make up that list. AJFederation 09:27, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Colonel Hoffman
I think that Colonel Hoffman should be added to the main COG characters instead of the "Other Members". His voice is heard in every Act of the game constantly and he's the one who originally came up with the plan of the Lightmass Bomb, making him a key character in the game. Thieflordgamer of Xbox Live 19:37, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Other Adversaries?
I think that the Kryll should be put with the main adversaries, as they are a main enemy, particularly in Act 2 and in the battle against General RAAM. Also, I think the Brumak should be put in the "Other Adversaries" as it is very minor and you don't even battle it, even though it is highlighted in Destroyed Beauty. Thieflordgamer of Xbox Live 19:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Nemacyst or Reaver
Is what they call the Nemacyst in the game actually a Reaver? I know I heard the flying Locust (not the Kryll) described as Nemacyst several times, but perhaps this is just a nickname for the Reaver?
Kryll are not included in the main enemies because they cant be killed (except in the level where you drive). Nemycyst and reavers are two totally different things. A Nemacyst is a flying missile that spawns from seeders. a reaver is a flying creature fought in act 5 which drones fly on. Thieflordgamer of Xbox Live 19:50, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- Nemacysts are spawned from seeders. They are biological missiles. Reavers are flying creatures drones can mount on and use for aerial assaults. They are two completely different creatures. AJFederation 22:17, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Clean-up
Doing some work on clearing out fancruft and grammer right now. I've currently run through the COG and Stranded sections, and I'll get to the Locust eventually. If no one else objects, I'll eventually merge up the four main characters' articles with this one as well. Peptuck 22:06, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
COG shown at end of act 3
Is it known who the cog who Raam headshot at the end of act 3 is? He looks kind of like carmine with a helmit, but he's not a main character since all of your teamates are still with you on act four and carmine's already dead. Cheesycarrion 04:26, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Nope Toa Zach 20:09, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Nobody take this to heart or anything, I'm sure I could be wrong, but maybe it's a nod to South Park's Kenny always mysteriously reviving and getting killed. Chronus Valtiel (talk) 04:17, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
RAAM vs Raam
Why does every one specifically put RAAM? Toa Zach 20:13, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- I believe the last objective in the game says, "Kill RAAM", so I guess that's why. It may stand for something or just may have been written that way to look cool. -- ShadowJester07 ►Talk 01:20, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- Why hasn't anyone posted a picture of General RAAM yet? I think he at least deserves that.--Kondrayus 12:23, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure, myself. He is the final boss of the first game, after all.... Chronus Valtiel (talk) 04:15, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Kryll Speculation
It is speculated whether the kryll came with the Locust Horde or are a native species of Sera. If the kryll had lived beneath the surface of the planet, in total darkness, wouldn't the Locust Horde have been killed off by them?Hatedthirdborn 23:48, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Hatedthirdborn
Pitch Black
The Kryll are an obvious nod to the cult film Pitch Black starring Vin Diesel, at one point during the Kryll level Macrus even says "Jeez, it's pitch black!". Anyone know a refrence of some sort we could use?
- Unless we have a direct quote from the guys at Epic saying that the Kryll were inspired by or are a reference to Pitch Black, that's simply speculation and original research. Peptuck 05:11, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:GoW-Corpser.jpg
Image:GoW-Corpser.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notability and Fansite tags
I've add these to this article. Primarily, there's a new push to make sure articles are notable, particularly for fictional works (see WP:FICT). Looking over this article, all the information in this article is in-universe, taken from the game or game manual, and there's little out-of-universe notability that isn't already covered in the main page. Very little of this text is necessary for a general encyclopedia manner, and I would almost be in favor of deleting this article, and making sure to give a bit of note to the Locust forces in the setting part of the main GoW page. However, if anyone thinks they can improve that, please give it a shot (thus why I didn't AFD this right away). --Masem 04:47, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Proposed new format
After reviewing List of Metal Gear Solid characters, a featured VG Character list, I think we should rearrange the article in order to make it more formal and encyclopedic. I am not so sure about adding an 'enemy list' section, since it makes the article/list read like an FAQ. Furthermore, I'm not sure if we should keep the '(Myrrah)' section, since it pushes WP:NOR. It's previous discussion did not seen to provide much legitimate evidence for keeping it. Any input? I'd also suggest merging the Fenix, Dom, Baird, and Cole articles into this one, until they satisfy WP:N, but we can deal with that later.
As for the references/notes, I believe "Character: Quote. Microsoft Game Studios, Gears of War, Epic Games, Xbox 360 (in English), November 7, 2006.", should do the charm. --ShadowJester07 ► Talk 03:58, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Notability issues (again)
Again, I strongly urge the people editing this page to consider notability (WP:FICT) and the amount of in-universe content (verses any out of universe information). While I can see where you're following the character list from MGS, there is too much plot in both this and the MGS article that it likely may be challenged when updated fictional article guidelines are written. My suggestion: You want to tighten down as much as possible about the four main Delta Squad members, and tighten down the Locust as a race, using as much as you can from outside secondary sources (NOT the GoW artbook, for example) to explain how these characters fit into the plot. A much better list to work from is the Characters in Final Fantasy VIII which has numerous outside sources.
I will say that the new fiction guidelines will allow for in-universe article call outs when the main article is large, and I fully would expect such is true for GoW. However, this does not mean you should go into extensive details, and much of what is on this page is just too detailed. You need enough details for a non-gamer who will never play the game to understand who the most important characters are; write towards them (general purpose encyclopedia) instead of for a specialized one. --Masem 02:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- I would say the article has tightened down. I think we can safely remove this tag now.
- Wageslave (talk) 22:56, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, it has a ways to go. It is out of danger of deletion, but notability must still be established with more sources and the content gone through thoroughly. The tag will have to stay up until the issue is completely dealt with. -- Comandante {Talk} 19:27, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Rojas?
I think Rojas should be merged under other COG gears because he has no more importance in the game than the other COG soldiers we saw alive or KIA. (99.227.20.70 18:30, 15 September 2007 (UTC))
Kryll hate the rain
I think it should be noted that the Kryll do not like the rain, or for some other reason try to avoid it. This is evident in the first part of Act Three when the characters are outside. It is still night during the Act, but the Kryll are nowhere to be found. --Tonku 10:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

- To whom it may concern, for the next few days I'll be working on improving this article, having withdrawn the deletion nomination. If you disagree with an edit I make, bring it up here to discuss. -- Comandante {Talk} 21:27, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- I have removed a portion of the article detailing enemies in the game. None of what I have removed refers to an important character who plays a role in the plot, so it doesn't belong in a character list. See here for the change. This will likely be the most controversial edit I make; again if you disagree with it, please voice your concerns. -- Comandante {Talk} 21:34, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Next, after having added a few new characters from Gears of War 2, I am moving the page to Characters of Gears of War, a better title for the page with the non-characters removed; this is the only other edit I will make that may draw criticism, but it is necessary to properly relate to its contents. Note that I have been following the example set by the Halo games here, in Characters of Halo, since they know what they are doing (having gotten a couple of their articles to FA status). -- Comandante {Talk} 22:01, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm going to wait for this one until the deletion debate is formally closed to ensure I don't foul up any links to the article. I'll also have to attend to the various other redirects. -- Comandante {Talk} 22:10, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm trying to revise the article in one of my sandboxes, by modeeling it after the Characters of Starcraft article. Progress is slow, but nonetheless progress. I'm still searching for some in-universe text dumps do cite character dialouges and what not. I'm pretty sure we can find information about Character Design from GameSpot and IGN. -- ShadowJester07 ►Talk 01:25, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds good, your page is more refined than this one. I think the biggest problem we will encounter is arguing why the article doesn't need to detail all of the different enemies; that, and the notability of the "female voice." I can't tell if it is all orginal research or legitmate. The name in the credits is the big tipping point. -- Comandante {Talk} 15:39, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think you should at least restore some of the information on Berserkers, Brumaks, Seeders and Corpsers. Corpsers and Brumaks because they are involved in two boss battles, seeders and Berserkers because the player faces both numerous times throughout various points of the game. JayJ47 (talk) 04:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- None of those are characters. You see them once or twice, kill them, and that's the end of it. Whenever the article cleanup is completed, it will consist only of characters who play important roles in the plot; including the bosses is no different than including all of the non-character enemies, and doing that is what jeopardized the article to begin with. If someone wants to know about the bosses and enemies, they can easily look up a game guide. -- Comandante {Talk} 19:17, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh what the hell! If you're going to delete all of the enemies in the article, can I or someone atleast make a new one listing those enemies? I was trying to look back and see them, when I read the discussion page. Where else could I get a good list of descriptions of those enemies? --CPO Pieman (talk) 15:16, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Move article
To Characters of the Gears of War series. The current title is non-standard and too long. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 00:07, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would oppose to this, as most character articles listing a large number of characters usually begin with 'List of". An example would be, List of characters in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. JayJ47 (talk) 09:52, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- On the contrary, a proper article like this would be better off being a regular article, not a list. See: Characters of Halo or Characters of Final Fantasy VIII (the latter of which is featured). Peptuck (talk) 10:14, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'd support the notion to move this list to "Characters of the Gears of War series". As Peptuck suggested, some of the best character are writen as Articles; not to say that lists are bad or anything. :p -- ShadowJester07 ►Talk 08:32, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- The move away from a "List of" naming should only be done if there is clear notability shown for the set of characters in the game; this is not the case; the "list of" shows that the article may not be notable but fits into a larger picture, instead of making the claim that the characters are a notable topic. --MASEM 09:11, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- So what should we do? Move the page or leave it the way it is? JayJ47 (talk) 02:52, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- "List of characters in the Gears of War series" would be appropriate. --MASEM 03:26, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Ben Carmine
I'd like to suggest moving Ben Carmine to the Delta Squad section from the other characters section, as he serves the majority of his on screen time as a member of the squad.
Thanks.

Adam Fenix
There should be a section about Adam Fenix (Marcus Father) in the article as he did play a major role in Gears 2 and his end Dialog after the Gear or War 2 credits of the events yet to come. --҉ რɫՒ◌§ 9¤ ॐ 04:23, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Skorge
Isn't it a a little presumptuous to say Skorge is dead. Obviously not much can be done now, but there was no in-game confirmation of any sort saying Skorge was dead or alive. His fate is just as ambiguous as Dizzy's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.199.126.229 (talk) 00:04, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. I don't know why that was changed. We see him fall off the Hydra but don't see enough of him after the impact to make sure if he was dead, and Locust are extremely tough. Peptuck (talk) 20:45, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Changed it back to saying his fate is unknown. Protecting the Page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.134.109.46 (talk) 01:23, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm going to have to oppose this. We see him fall and cough up blood. So now are we going to say that RAAM didn't die because there was no in-game confirmation? Trust me, Skorge is dead. I could cite a source if you really want me to. --The Guy complain edits 01:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's better to say "presumably killed" in this case. The game implies that Skorge died, but never really confirms this. This article formerly stated that Chap officially died in Gears 1 (Act 2); However, it was changed when we found out he reappears in GOW2. If you have a reference, please add it. -- StarScream1007 ►Talk 01:53, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- This is a bit different than Chaps. Chaps was never defeated, wounded, or fighting, at all the last time we saw him. The last time we saw Skorge he was thrown off of a Hydra at threatening altitudes, onto the rocks below, coughing up blood. Just the same, last time we saw RAAM, he was lying on the ground. Again, how do we know he died? You're basically applying that case to Skorge, but not to RAAM. Now of course, we have sources to state that RAAM is dead, but none are cited (and I'm not stupid, I know he's dead, I was just using the example to make my point). So why allow one thing that is not clearly indicated by the game, but condemn another? --The Guy complain edits 01:59, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, the player can witness Chap (or at least his character model) fight and die in the finale of act two, though his character model is usually killed off However, that's irrelevant in this case :p. I will agree with you in that case, since there are no official or reliable sources that confirm RAAM's death. I changed the "killed" to "defeated", given that is all that can be properly assumed (Yeh, Sorry, I know I should have waited for a consensus or something). -- StarScream1007 ►Talk 03:05, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- If Chap was not a valid point, why did you bring him up in the first place? Also, I changed Skorge to defeated, as well, as a compromise. Let's call this our consensus. --The Guy complain edits 04:06, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- By irrelevant, I was referring to the process of finding Chap's character model in Act 2 - it seemed as if I was getting too trivial. But yeah, the your most recent edit to the article looks solid. -- StarScream1007 ►Talk 04:22, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Aspho Fields
Whoever has clearance to edit this page needs to mention the novel "Gears of War: Aspho Fields" in the introduction and list all of the main characters in said novel (I.E. Carlos Santiago, Bernadette Mataki, Adam Fenix.) These characters add significant depth to the gears of war universe. If not added, then Adam Fenix should atleast be mention being that he plays a substantial role in gears of war 2. If these changes aren't made then the title of this article is inaccurate and should therefore read "list of some of the gears of war video game characters." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xtnx heracles (talk • contribs) 17:01, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Should Aspho Fields even be considered canonical? There's a lot of major contradictions between it and the actual game, like the "no female gears" part despite the fact that we've got female tank drivers, Raven pilots, and infantry in-game. Peptuck (talk) 05:43, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've never seen a female Gear, only heard them through radio piloting Ravens. That said, I've never seen a female Gear infantry, only male. That said, I think we should consider the novel a reliable source, although we should definitely note in the process that it has some minor differences from canon. --The Guy complain edits 19:39, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- At least one female Gear is in the Hollow, during Act 2, when you assist the squad right before the encounter with the Boomers and the fight with the Wretches in the dark tunnel. You can hear her talking, though her model is no different from any of the other standard Gears. Peptuck (talk) 20:19, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Myrrah/Locust Queen

What opening cinematic?
Also, info on her role in GOW2 should be added. -- Simon Beavis
- Gears of War 2 isn't out yet, there is currently no info to add. -- Commdor {Talk} 20:16, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Since we have now seen the queen, and the voice is the same, shouldnt she be identified as such? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.99.65.63 (talk) 16:36, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- No, but only because having the same voice doesn't necessarily lead to the characters being the same. Fred Tatasciore, for example, voices both Baird and Tai. (I'm not arguing that you're not right -- I'm sure it's the same character, too -- I'm just saying we have no proof.) 68.33.88.16 (talk) 06:01, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Riftworm
The Riftworm has been deleted and undeleted a few times recently. I've added it back briefly, but discuss it here so we can come to a final conclusion. I'm not sure if we should keep it or not, but I know that, whatever happens, the section on Jack should meet the same fate. --Thejadefalcon (talk) 10:39, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
The Riftworm makes very significant changes to the plot (killing thousands of people and taking up half an act of game play), and so does Jack (many combat sequences that start with "Jack, rip that door"), that are much more significant than the involvement of Hanley, or Maria, so I think that they are definitely worth keeping. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Sunglass Parlour (talk • contribs) 05:59, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Agreed; riftworm plays a large part in the gears of war game series especially near the end of the game; for it sinks capitol city. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.70.14.63 (talk) 16:31, 14 December 2010 Template:UnsignedIP --> raam is flip flops and skorge is boots
Dizzy Wallin and Betty
Did Dizzy really name his Assault Derrick Betty? It clearly says "Betty" on the side of the Derrick, and all of the other Derricks have names as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Sunglass Parlour (talk • contribs) 05:47, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- He calls it Betty repeatedly during the course of the game, so I'd say yes, he did. Peptuck (talk) 17:42, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
"Betty" is painted quite well on the side of the Derrick (handwriting with a picture as well), and it is clear that all other Derricks have names, with Baird's "Apparently, I'm riding on Marylin" line. Dizzy is a driver, not a painter, so he did not do the painting himself, and he was not part of the production of the actual Derrick. He just sticks to the idea of naming the Derricks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Sunglass Parlour (talk • contribs) 19:36, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
