Talk:Limb–girdle muscular dystrophy/Archive 1
Contradicting information
[edit]The page states: "Common symptoms of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy are muscle weakness, myoglobinuria, pain, myotonia, cardiomyopathy, elevated serum CK, and rippling muscles."
And only a bit further:
"Generally pain is not present with LGMD, and mental function is not affected."
So, is pain typical, or not?

LGMD subtype changes
[edit]Good morning, Wikipedians! There have been some changes to the LGMD subtype nomenclature system.
- Renaming: The subtypes of LGMD were renamed as LGMD +R, if recessive, and D if dominant + gene-related. For example, LGMD2J (autosomal recessive) was renamed as "LGMD R10 titin-related".
- Removal: Some subtypes of LGMD were removed and were reclassified. For example, LGMD1A has been reclassified as "myofibillar myopathy".
- Additions: Some new subtypes have been added (e.g. Bethlem myopathy recessive, which is LGMD R22 Collagen-6 related).

Homeopathic treatment
[edit]Hi Gerryharrington, it is my opinion that the information you provided is not useful to readers in its present form, for the following reasons:
- The article you cited is not a medical reference, despite the content being medical information
- This is anecdotal evidence, not even at the level of a case report, and even case reports are not usually suitable for wikipedia
- The article does not specify the type of LGMD, and considering that none of the subtypes are closely related on a molecular level, a treatment that works for one subtype is likely not translatable to another subtype.
- The article does not specify the treatment. The only way to pursue it is by visiting the same doctor in India. Seeing another homeopathic doctor seems to be unlikely to be successful as they would not know the same treatment (unless it is published elsewhere, in which case you should cite that article).
