Confused subject

[edit]

There are three separate laws which the article in this form is confusing:

  • Saturninius' law during his first tribunate in 103 BC in which lands were distributed to Marian veterans of the Jugurthine War. MRR 1.563 citing Auct Vir Ill 73.1. Though heed note 3 at MRR 1.565 saying that actual effect of the law may have been delayed until 100 BC.
  • Saturninius' law establishing colonies in Sicily and Greece in 100 BC. This was a separate law from the agrarian law in 100 BC. MRR 1.575.
  • Saturninius' law in 100 BC to distribute lands taken from the Cimbri.

Caesar's father and Caesar Strabo were members of a decemviral board for this, but it isn't clear (MRR 1.575–78) which law that board attached to. I would guess for Caesar's father's activites on the island Cercina (located off Tunisia) it would be the law in 103. Ifly6 (talk) 19:58, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
