Some copy cleanup, but the most direly needed fixes are to the uncited statements. Thebiguglyalien passed this for DYK with those included, which surprises me. But they are not going to be able to stand at GAN without citations. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 17:44, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Lead
[edit]- As an assistant coach, his teams have earned 2017 Big 12 women's tournament and the 2013–14 Big 12 women's regular season championships. Move the "the" before "2017"
- Thx-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:22, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- Remove the duplicate West Virginia men's link in paragraph 2. I think you can just say that he played four seasons for West Virginia; it'd sound a lot better and less redundant.
- Done-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:31, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- The ampersands should be "and" spelled out
- OK-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:38, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

[edit]- Delink Eastern Athletic Association, which goes to an unrelated article, and consider a footnote at the end of that sentence on the conference's renaming. A reference like this one[1] would be workable too.
- I don't think the end of the sentence is best here, but would not revert if you feel strongly.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:56, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- No need to capitalize "all" in "all-tournament"
- Thx-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:59, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- Render as "preseason", no caps, no hyphen

[edit]There are two ‹The template Fake citation needed is being considered for merging.› [citation needed] templates that must be resolved. Partial sourcing is available in newspapers to fill this gap.[2][3] Note that the team is not mentioned in the former and particularly that the latter suggests he did not play for Savannah after November 1987. (Side note: this went to DYK with two citation needed templates, which is astoundingly bad.)
- Better than nothing.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 16:20, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- during the 1987–88 in accordance with above, try early in the 1987–88 season before being waived in late November
- Thx for the suggestion.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 16:24, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- "With 5 games" spell out five

- Rowe had coaching offers, but did not want to move from Morgantown, West Virginia at that stage of his life
- Remove the comma after "offers". "Rowe" is the subject in both halves. See User:Sammi Brie/Commas in sentences (CinS)
- Add a MOS:GEOCOMMA after West Virginia.

- In 2013, he was reprimanded by Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby for his involvement in a post-game melee at the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center on November 17, 2013. In 2013, on November 17, 2013—one of those should stay, one should go.

- @TonyTheTiger The main problem left is that the new sources do not include the Shell team or the "5 games" specifically with Savannah. My guess is that there is not a lot of available online sourcing for the PBA from the 1980s, though I did find a story in Rappler which mentions that Shell signed Rowe. His WVU profile indicates he played in several other countries:
Argentina, the Philippines, Venezuela, France, Germany and the United States

Personal life
[edit]- As of March 18, 2013 his daughters were aged 21 and 19, respectively. There has to be a better way to say this, something like "born 1991/92" and "born 1993/94", that doesn't age so poorly.

[edit]- Ref [15] (Chicago Tribune): The correct page number is section 4, page 3. The Tribune had numbered sections back then, and it is easy to miss that, especially with ProQuest where it might not be so apparent. I usually write this as 4:3.
- Consider cleaning up all the [Final Edition] etc. in the ProQuest titles.
- I have made two attempts at this. I need some help.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:57, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

With a 12.6 average, Maurice Martin of St. Joseph's was the No. 2 scorer for the Atlantic 10 basketball all-stars who toured Spain. Martin, a 6-6 sophomore, scored his tour-high 24 points vs. Panama. Leading scorer for the A-10s (3-5 record) was Lester Rowe of West Virginia with a 19.9 average

The preseason all- conference team includes George Washington's 6-foot, 10-inch, 260-pound Michael Brown, a sure NBA first-round pick; St. Joseph's guard Maurice Martin, who made it to the Olympic team's final 20 players, and Rutgers scoring machine John Battle, whom Boston Celtics general manager Red Auerbach likened to former all-pro guard Dave Bing. Temple's Granger Hall and West Virginia leaper Lester Rowe round out the coaches' first-team choices.

That was back when current WVU assistant coach Lester Rowe was in uniform, throwing down thunderous dunks on the Coliseum floor.
