- The B-24, carrying incendiaries, came under particularly heavy attack from German fighters, as they were unable to stay close enough the B-17s to be protected by their gunfire, and had to open up their own formation to attack; five of the eight aircraft shot down were B-24s. confusing to an air fighting noob
- the attack on the Ploesti oil fields in Romania....the attack on the Romanian Ploesti oil fields is possibly more readable
- Andy Rooney knew he was a general before he was a general?

Minor date discrepancy between source docs
[edit]Today I added a 1952 official biography as a reference. It disagrees by one day re: Capt (permanent). I checked Fogarty's 1953 compilation, it does claim 13 June while the 1952 command-level bio claims 12 June. I left the date as-is given that both sources hold equal stature. A related issue: the reference to Fogarty's work doesn't point to the correct PDF. I made a note to myself to see if we need multiple references or just one. I'll revisit this if no one else beats me to it. Rob Rosenberger (talk) 03:51, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
