Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved. No prejudice against revisiting this in a few months when usage in reliable sources might have changed. Jenks24 (talk) 14:48, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

London VeloparkLee Valley VeloPark – Lee Valley Regional Park Authority are taking over the management of the VeloPark and its official name is Lee Valley VeloPark as stated on all their literature and website. LVRPA (talk) 16:08, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide some evidence? OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 08:36, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
yes, here is our visitor website (http://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/en/content/cms/london2012/velo-park/) and our Authority led website (http://www.leevalleypark.org.uk/en/content/cms/corporate/london-2012/)both referring to the venue as Lee Valley VeloPark. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LVRPA (talkcontribs) 09:39, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
ok, good start and that might be enough. Even better would be any mentions in the press? (Wikipedia uses reliable secondary sources, rather than primary sources, to stop people claiming things are true just because they can create a website that says so). OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 10:30, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The WP:COMMONNAME still points to London Velopark rather than Lee Valley. If it's just been recently renamed, it would be worth revisiting this in a couple of months when reliable secondary sources might have taken the name. Severo (talk) 10:40, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
there are several articles in the press referring to the venue as Lee Valley VeloPark, see in the main copy of the articles

From WP:COMMONNAME: "The most common name for a subject, as determined by its prevalence in reliable English-language sources, is often used as a title because it is recognizable and natural." For now, this still seems to be London Velopark. There's no problem with putting the official name in the prose of the article but official names do not dictate article naming. Over time, the the name as it is generally known to the public could change and the article title with it. Severo (talk) 11:55, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
