Chart details

[edit]

I deleted reference to Leader of the Pack making #1 on the (US) "Black singles chart" - in 1964 there was no Billboard R&B chart published, and the term "Black singles chart" was not used until 1982. Although Joel Whitburn's books have retrospectively classed the song as "R&B", and hence inferred that it would have charted on the R&B chart had such a chart existed at that point, this justification seems fairly tenuous to me. Spice Girls

[edit]

I'm pretty sure the comment about the Spice Girls covering it during their movie is wrong. Wasn't it Gary Glitter's "Leader of the Gang"? The Pacifist 14:36, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Parody

[edit]

I'm surprised with all the parodies/covers listed no mention is made of Jimmy Cross's bizarre "I Want My Baby Back". In the song he and his girlfriend met the leader of the pack in the fatal crash and she ended up dead. It was voted #1 worst record of all time and Book of Rock Lists calls it the most tasteless song to hit the top 100. I'm not in favor of endless lists but seems like it's worth a mention, probably more notable than most of the others. Gr8white (talk) 03:05, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good point, reference now added. You could have done it yourself though! Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:43, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Just who exactly put this in the page as part of the description (under the section "References")? "The name of this song is another way of describing the starting quarterback of the NFL's Green Bay Packers." First of all, WHAT? Second, are we talking about Brett Farve, or Aaron Rodgers, or a previous Green Bay QB? And third, how does this make any sense at all? (redundant, I know.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.190.223.69 (talk) 10:56, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
