Future editing

[edit]

I've drastically pruned and copyedited this article, but there's still a way to go. It was highly repetitive, used promotional language, contained numerous inappropriate external links, and was written not like an encyclopedia article but as if it were her personal website. I have removed entirely the repertoire list because it is repetitive of the other text in the article and was referenced solely to primary sources. The former "Recent career" section has been retitled and tagged for copyediting. It is repetitive, overly detailed, promotional in places and contains inappropriate external links. It needs further work.

Future editors, especially those who are affiliated in any way (personal or professional) with Laura Giordano, must adhere to the following guidelines when editing it.

1. Before even starting to edit it again, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for guidance.
2. Simlarly, Wikipedia is not a newsletter or bulletin board. Avoid terms like "now", "soon", "currently" and "recently" which make the article both imprecise, and in many instances, quickly inaccurate.
3. This is an encyclopedia article, not Ms. Giordano's personal web site or news letter. Avoid excessive detail rather than writing a chronicle of every single appearance she has made in the last year. That is appropriate for her personal website or that of her agent, not an encyclopedia article. Ditto the laundry lists of every theatre she has sung in and every conductor she has sung under.
4. All additions must be referenced to reliable published sources which are independent of the subject. Future performances are inappropriate. Performances should be added once they have actually taken place and an independent reference for them can be provided, e.g. a review.
5. All additions must be neutrally worded and use encyclopedic tone and style. Any additions which can be perceived by a neutral reader as hype or PR will be removed. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms for guidance.
6. Remember, that once you have written an article on Wikipedia, you no longer own it. It will always have to conform to Wikipedia's policies on content, style and formatting – not to the subject's desired image or marketing goals.

Further editing

[edit]

I cut one section (2014-2015) by moving a good deal of its references to another one (Life and career). The article needs further editing though.

Interviews subsection

[edit]

I made more cuts to the article, but kept the Interviews subsection. At the moment I'm not sure what to do with these interviews: they contain bits of professional information, and hence are potentially useful as sources, but without further digesting they do not immediately fit the contents of the article.
