[edit]If there is a canadian and american last veterans page then britain should have its own page and not be summed up under bloody europe! Webbmyster (talk) 18:02, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Then make one.1812ahill (talk) 11:22, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Most of Europe's major wars involved Britain (Napoleonic, Crimea, WW1, WW2)
Britain should really have its own, given the empire it had. For example the last European veteran of 1812 listed here was from Canada - part of the British Empire then, but not part of Europe. SiameseTurtle (talk) 20:18, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Mikhail Krichevsky
[edit]In a number of articles Krichevsky himself stated that when the October Revolution started he left the army and went to Engineering College rather than participate [1],[2]. He is however the last known survivor of the Russian Imperial Army.Brucexyz (talk) 02:13, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Jean Thurel
[edit]Surely he couldn't be the "last" European survivor of the American Revolutionary War when he died in 1807; just off the top of my head Marquis de Lafayette would easily dispense with that claim. He may have been one of the oldest veterans of the war when he died, but that's distinct from being amongst the last. Kw0134 (talk) 14:06, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- The American Revolutionary War is given as one of the campaigns he "also served in" in his double entries (under War of Austrian Succession and War of Polish Succession), as written it does not attempt to claim as its last veteran.Cloptonson (talk) 21:47, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
How old???
[edit]The 'Early modern period' section is a farce, and might as well be removed. The claimants ages are respectively 113, 122, and 146(!) at time of death. The latter two would represent male longevity records even today, and the last would represent an individual who outlived the oldest person ever (reliably) recorded by over 20 years! These claims are clearly fraudulent, as more than likely is that of Hiseland.1812ahill (talk) 11:14, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Is there any evidence that he fought in the Jacobite risings? Not mentioned his the article. The last survivor of the Battle of Culloden (1745) was claimed to be Peter Grant who died in 1824 aged 110 (allegedly). [3] Alansplodge (talk) 14:36, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
