Other Language Families Attested in Asia

[edit]

So uh, what about the Indo-European and Dravidian languages? The former extends well into Asia and the latter is to my knowledge confined to Asia. Also I'm not sure what a long history of writing has to do with the languages. This is true of the Afro-Asiatic languages (e.g. Egyptian, Phoenecian, Hebrew) yet is not mentioned on the Languages of Africa page. Myrkkyhammas (talk) 21:12, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs some work. As you can tell, articles like Languages of Africa and Languages of Europe are much more developed. I agree with all of your comments and would recommend just making the changes yourself. Although with the Indo-European language family, I would suggest only adding the branches relevant to Asia, such as Balto-Slavic and Indo-Iranian. – Novem Lingvae (talk) 22:31, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Africa and Europe are more coherent linguistic areas than Asia. East Asian languages for example covers an area sharing many areal features. But it's hard to say that languages over all or most of Asia have any features in common. --JWB (talk) 03:23, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What about Arabic? Why it is not mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.215.196.56 (talk) 11:00, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The languages spoken on the Korean peninsula are "Germanic"? Seriously? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.249 (talk) 20:40, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should Dari, Persian, and Tajik be separate?

[edit]

The list seems to separate the 3 despite being the same language, albeit different dialects. Should we merge them?2605:6001:E7C4:1E00:2084:70A9:AE84:F280 (talk) 03:28, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fake entry: Akcrai

[edit]

Looks like the list contains a fake entry, the language of "Akcrai" if I'm not mistaken. Unless there's a language with 20 mil speakers that's official to Cyprus, Indonesia, Nepal and India TheEsb (talk) 14:16, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
