Suggestion to use the Ladin name "Saslonch"

[edit]

This article uses as its title the German name of the mountain, "Langkofel". The policy of the English Wikipedia with regards to nameplaces in South Tyrol is to use the name of the dominant local language, be it German, Italian or Ladin. As this mountain is located in the municipalities of Sëlva, Santa Cristina Gherdëina and Canazei, which are all Ladin-speaking, I would suggest to use the Ladin name as the title of the article. I have reverted the move as undiscussed (WP:RMUM). The "suggestion" above was followed by an immediate move with no discussion or consensus. Based on frequency in English texts, Langkofel has been the dominant name, now alternating with Sassolungo, whereas Saslonch has no statistical frequency in English. If you believe there is a valid reason to discuss moving the article, you can do so using WP:RM. Sincerely, Doremo (talk) 12:57, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
