Proposed changes
[edit]We think that we need to further describe the definition of landrush period, as it is very vague in the article. We can also describe why it is called a landrush period and find the meaning behind that. The article discusses that the "sunrise period" occurs before the "landrush period", but that is out of context and many may not be familiar with a "sunrise period". Another important revision is adding more examples of domains that are generally registered during the landrush period. The only given examples of non-trademarked domain names registered during the landrush period are loan and car. We think that more in-depth and intriguing examples can be used. We can also describe the step by step process of registering a domain during the landrush period and what the process actually entails. It is also important to add that it generally is more expensive to register during the landrush period and to pay for the rights to use a common/generic domain. In addition, we need to look at relating Wikipedia articles to the landrush period. Through some research we can tell there may be a connection of the word’s root from another article of “land run”. Also we need to give more real life example of domain names, such as ICANN's release of domain names. It is also important to update the page on the landrush experience of new domain name. Possible new domain names such as - .shop and .buy are arising and it is important to consider the landrush period related to the new domain.
I removed the banner saying that this article has multiple issues. We added numerous references and added more information to make the page credible. We also took off the snub banner of this page because we considered now consider this Wikipedia site a valuable page to learn about the landrush period. ploganat (talk) 14:17, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Peer reviews
[edit]Overall, this group did a really great job breaking down the different phases of the landrush period. After reading the article, I definitely felt that I had a solid understanding of what a landrush period is. Although most of the explanations were laid out very clearly, there was the use of some terms that I did not know that made it difficult for me to understand the concept as a whole. For example, the term gTLDs came up several times without a definition or a link to an explanation. Other than that, this group did a nice job with the general organization and content of their article. I liked how they split up the different subcategories into the different periods and phases. This gave me a better sense of how the entire process works as a whole. Kschwartz95 (talk) 18:46, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
This page looks very good. The introduction is not too long and explains the overall theme of the page very well. This group also added a lot of information to the page and taught me about what a Landrush period is and valuable information about when and how the landrush periods occurred. They added a lot of links to other Wikipedia pages as well as reliable references, which helps me and other readers find more information on the topic. Also, I like how they included information about a global landrush. Some abbreviations on the page could have been explained better to clear up any confusion, but overall the content is explained very well. Meowmeowmeow123 (talk) 21:48, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
