Title

[edit]

I realise the title of this page isn't quite right. They are most commonly known as RUC Landrovers, but as the RUC no longer exists that's not suitable. Any suggestions welcome. Stu 16:05, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They were indeed known as RUC Landrovers but the correct name is in fact the Land Rover Tangi. See 'Armoured and Heavy Vehicles of the RUC 1922-2001' by David Dunne (Ian Allan Publishing). --Wranadu2 (talk) 13:55, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Major Edit

[edit]

Today I did a major rewrite of this article, including lots of new stuff (mainly from David Dunne's book Armoured and Heavy Vehicles of the RUC 1922-2001. I've removed reference to the Tangi being descended from the Shorland...this isn't the case. The Tangi was not a purpose built armoured vehicle but followed the bloodline of the VPK and Hotspur in being a heavily modified civvy LR. I've added a lot of how it came to be and the modifications from a normal 110. This is my first major edit, I hope I've done alright/not done anything the admins'll hunt me down and kill me for. Feel free to offer feedback so I can improve it some more hopefully! --Wranadu2 (talk) 17:25, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Its certainly a nice job you have done, and it makes the case seem even better considering this was your first edit. I can also assure you that you have done nothing wrong for an admin to come looking for you. Well done & happy editing. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 17:28, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Pangolin armoured landrover

[edit]

Hi all,

A number of months ago a user added information to this page about the next generation of armored landrovers for use in Northern Ireland called the Pangolin. At that time little was know about them and there was no evidence to support that these vehicles where coming into use. Now it is very clear that the Pangolin's are in use by the PSNI and their is numerous evidence to support this from third parties and manufacture. I was wandering if anybody would be willing to help me either add a Pangolin section to this page or to create a new page based on the a users attempt of it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Landroverfan/PANGOLIN_armoured_Land_Rover)? Thanks

Pangolin section

[edit]

Hi all,

Over the past month or so there has been a lot of changes to the page regarding the addition of the Pangolin section and the content within it. My proposal is that the pangolin section is necessary as it provides relevant information that can be backed up by genuine references with regards to the natural progression of the Land Rover Tangi and its successor's (the Land Rover Pangolin and Penman version) into a 21st century role. I would welcome any further discussions regarding this matter. Thanks Jonny109 (talk) 14:52, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:UNDUE. This is an article about the Tangi. It is sufficient to mention that the Pangolin replaced it and leave it at that. Anything else needs to go in a separate Pangolin article. --Biker Biker (talk) 21:25, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
