Gibbet, chevet, rood screen
[edit]This is an excellent and interesting article, full of nice pictures. I don't know if gibbet is the right word to use for the side arms of the calvary. And what is the chevet of the bell tower with its 'lanterons'? Is there a wreath of apse chapels attached to the tower? A 'poutre de gloire' is as far as I know a decorated wooden beam on the border of nave and chancel, conjugating the walls of the church high in the air. A rood screen is a much more intricate structure, in effect an ornate stone separation between the priests' sanctuary and the place where the ordinary believers should stay. However, I don't know the technical term, maybe 'rood beam', the rood being a Cross. These are but small things, but I'm sure they can be ameliorated. But not by me because English is not my mother tongue.
I think that an article like this should contain as many wikilinks as possible, because the language of mediaeval Catholic religion is hard to understand and not known to many nowadays. It would be nice to seek out all the right Wikipedia articles with the saints mentioned. Glatisant (talk) 19:26, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
