Oppose any move for now. This party has been known for a variety of names, including "Labor Party Philippines" (never just "Labor Party"). There had also been several labor parties in the Philippines in history so they had chosen a good dabbed name. "Labor Party (Philippines) redirects to Partido Manggagawa which translates to "labor party". I don't know if "Workers and Peasants' Party" is now the preferred name, but "WPP" now is the preferred acronym. Their vice presidential candidate is still referred to as the candidate of the "Labor Party of the Philippines" here, here, here, with the second source also saying that it is also referred to as the "Workers and Peasants Party." I guess the current name is now "Labor Party of the Philippines," but usage is slowly shifting to "Workers and Peasants Party". I suppose we wait for some more time until WP:RSes make up their mind and begin calling this party as the "Workers and Peasants Party." Howard the Duck (talk) 21:52, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support second only Workers and Peasants Party → Workers and Peasants Party (India). Workers and Peasants Party should become a DAB including Workers and Peasants Party (France), perhaps Workers' and Peasants' Party (Japan) (now titled Workers' and Peasants' Party (1948) and an unsourced but probably saveable substub) and Workers and Peasants Party (Egypt) and possibly others but that's already three at least. 2 WPPs

This was moved from Labor Party Philippines to the current title. There seems to be 2 WPPs:

Workers and Peasants Party aka Labor Party Philippines fka Lapiang Manggagawa, the party that nominated Hermogenes Ebdane for president in 2016, Manny SD Lopez for vice president in 2022, and nominated Apollo Quiboloy for senator in 2025
Workers Party Philippines, the one having Sonny Matula as its candidate.

See for example this news article. This news article says Matula's party is the Workers and Peasants Party.

Also for your reference, Hariboneagle927, as this seems to have been moved via a technical request. This was discussed in no less than 2 RMs. Common courtesy would have asked for another RM, or at the very least a discussion if there should be a separate article on the Matula party.

Suggestion: Move this back to "Labor Party Philippines" or even Workers' and Peasants' Party (Philippines), then create another article Workers' Party Philippines for the Matula's party. Howard the Duck (talk) 22:17, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Smh, another mess concerning our parties. As per GMA News from what I understand is there are two groups.

- Workers' and Peasants' Party is under Atty. Tolentino and Quiboloy.

- Workers Party Philippines the one under Matula and Arias

I have overlooked the two RMs, I admit. But based on the information provided so far. I lean on "Workers Party Philippines" being the correct and most recent name for this entity. The only explicit source of the name change from LPP to Workers Party Philippines, I could find is Senior Times and that a new logo bearing the name "Workers Party Philippines" is shown by Manny SD Lopez on his Facebook post. Do note that the post text uses "Workers and Peasants Party" (WPP) instead.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 03:48, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Senior Times logo is identical to the one Wikipedia has. That's dated April 2024. It states that Labor Party Philippines is one of the oldest parties in the Philippines and renamed itself as the Workers Party Philippines. That article and Matula both mention Ariel Arias as one of their officers.

Manny SD Lopez's Facebook post is dated September 2024, the time of national conventions. It does show a different logo for the Workers and Peasants Party.

I have a feeling there's still another Labor Party Philippines, the original one that's descended from Lapiang Manggagawa. Based on this 2022 Manila Bulletin article, the names listed there were the ones that were long associated with the party, at least since 1998.

This is something for COMELEC to sort out, if you guys want to create an article about Matula's party, create Workers' Party Philippines, while Lopez's party can either stay here or move to Workers and Peasants Party (Philippines). Howard the Duck (talk) 22:19, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

On that 2022 party that was supposedly descended from Lapiang Manggagawa, was, and still is, Mark Tolentino (apparently an SMNI regular), one of the officers, and posted on Facebook the CONA for BBM from their party in 2022. The Manila Bulletin article did not mention Manny SD Lopez being nominated as VP by Tolentino's party. So, based on this:

Lapiang Manggagawa (LM) became Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka (PMM), then became Workers and Peasants Party (WPP-Tolentino).
Workers Party Philippines (WPP-Matula) also claims descent from original LM, and had a meeting earlier this year.
Labor Party Philippines that nominated Manny SD Lopez seems to be a separate organization from WPP-Tolentino and WPP-Matula.
