Western Bias
[edit]Isn't it biased to use a Western worldview bias when talking about these issues? It's using a bias as if LGBT rights are a natural right, which in Egypt they do not believe. Shouldn't the viewpoint of the article be based on the views of the society, and not other cultures? I know on other articles people talk about how it is written in a way that is biased to US culture or Western civilization, why not treat this the same? --2605:A000:1E02:C0F7:615D:2410:8268:29EE (talk) 05:10, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- The article, which is well-sourced, currently claims the exact opposite, showing the current situation can be found to have roots in the Western Napoleonic code, and homosexuality and transgender identities have a long history in Egypt. If you can find sources to refute this, please do present them, but if you cannot, then I must dimiss this as mere WP:IDONTLIKEIT ramblings. StrexcorpEmployee (talk) 11:43, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

Egypt used to be predominately Coptic Egypt used to be polytheistic and would be appalled by the idea of one God only. Culture indeed changes but one thing that remains is the diverse of people which include Gay people Nlivataye (talk) 06:48, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Found this as a stub with only an external link - nothing else. I'm turning it into an actual page, using a format copied from Gay rights in Ecuador. There are already a number of "gay rights by country" pages. Bobby P. Smith Sr. Jr. 08:45, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
Opening line
[edit]The opening line of this article: "LGBT rights in Egypt are limited to nonexistent, because homosexuality is strictly taboo in Egypt" is neither grammatical nor particularly insightful. I have amended it accordingly. --Augustusr (talk) 14:15, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- The article also needs updating with respect to the last series of arrests of HIV-positive men "accused" of homosexuality. — Zerida 22:06, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

What guys, you seem to be supporting LGBT rights, they are strongly opposed by the public in Egypt, and I'm one of the only guys here living there, so I do know that
since this is a democratic country, it should be prohibited — Preceding unsigned comment added by Madooo12 (talk • contribs) 12:29, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
