COI misinterpretation

I have reverted a deletion by USER:Bilby. The text concerned, supported by two independent and reliable citations, is

"A new edition prepared and directed by Marcio da Silva was performed by HGO at The Cockpit Theatre, London in June 2021".

It happens, as User:Bilby knows, that I am chair of the committe of HGO Trust, the charity which undertook the production. But the text quoted does not promote HGO, it is a valid, and third-party referenced, statment, that a new edition of the opera L'Egisto, was created and performed. The mention of this should not therefore be treated as a COI.--Smerus (talk) 12:36, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

This is exactly what a COI is - adding content about an organisation where you are the chair. You know this, and you have been told repeatedly - by multiple editors - that you should not directly edit articles where you have a COI. Raise it on talk (as you have now done) and let someone independent decide if it should be added. I'm sure it will be, but you should not be making the eidt yourself. Others have reinstated the text. I remain (thoroughly) unconvinced that User:Bilby has been correct in what I consider to be an over-enthusiastic interpretation of COI in the present instance.--Smerus (talk) 14:18, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

All you need to do is stick to what you said you would do - rather than edit articles directly when you have a COI, just raise it on talk and ask for an independent editor to evaluate it and add the content. That way there won't be any concerns, and the content is very likely to be added anyway. - Bilby (talk) 14:33, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
