Stub
[edit]I know this article is currently only in its embryonic form. It just surprise me that a theologian of the stature of Koyama did not appear to have an entry in Wikipedia, so I started one. I first learnt of him when, in 1985, a Religious Studies teacher at my school lent me a book which was a Lion handbook of Christian writers (the book was a brief hardback, and divided into different sections, such as the early Church fathers, the Reformation theologians, the existentialists, the liberals, the twentieth century - Koyama would be in the latter section). Does any one know the bibliographic details of this book? If so, it would help this article to lose being challenged for being unsourced. Other names mentioned in the book include Karl Rahner, Hans Kung, John Mbiti, Karl Barth, Paul Tillich, Rudolf Bultmann, Wolfhart Pannenberg and various advocates of liberation theology. Thanks
[edit]I would like to thank the people who have edited this since I created this entry, and consider that it may only a little work before it is "promoted" from stub to start class. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 00:37, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Greater specification needed
[edit]As the person who created this article, I now agree it needs a clean-up. It states that he has written "other books" but that is a vague statement - we should aim to specify how many books Koyama has published more precisely. I believe he has published thirteen books, but that at least one of them is only available in Japanese. Sorry if this article was outside my expertise, as my discipline is psychology rather than theology, but it should really be seen by a theology expert - for example, a Ph.D. student doing a thesis on Koyama. Reach for expert on external links, please!
[edit]If you do a Google search for Koyama, the first link you get is the "homepage" one listed here, but whenever I type that address in, I get messages that the link is broken. Can any one work out why? Thanks to the techno-experts who might solve this one! ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
References versus further reading
[edit]I am a little confused. I thought the difference between references and further reading was that in the reference list, the authors of the cited texts had to be referenced in the main article, but this does not appear to be the case here. Should we merge the "References" with the "Further Reading" for this article? ACEOREVIVED (talk) 22:23, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Concerns over coverage
[edit]I am rather concerned at the coverage in this article. At present, only one book by Koyama is readily at hand to me, and that is "No Handle on the Cross". However, there must be other Wikipedians who have read some of his other works. I am afraid I do not speak Japanese, so I shall be unable to read "On Christian Life" (which is currently only available in Japanese) but if some can read Japanese and has read this book, it would be good if that person could give this article wider coverage. Watebuffalo Theology and "Three Miles an Hour God" are quite famous works by Koyama. 92.3.209.164 (talk) 19:37, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Photos of Koyama and Google Images
[edit]There are a lot of pictures on the internet, which can be found by using Google Images, of Kosuke Koyama - if some one could download one of these and use it to accompany this article, it would be a way of meeting the above request to include a picture of Koyama. Working to give article more structure
[edit]I see that the clean-up tag has been there for quite a long time as of May 2010. I think that the key thing that could give this article an improvement is better structure - for example, giving it sub-headings, a better introduction and a more rounded conclusion. The WikiProject groups that are meant to be over-seeing this article (that for Christianity and Philosophy) are cordially invited to help here. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 20:14, 27 May 2010

I seem to be the only person who ever gives this article any major edits - and Koyama is not a theologian who I would have expert knowledge of. It would be nice if some who is familiar with both "Water Buffalo Theology" and "Three Miles an Hour God" could incorporate his/her knowledge into this article, to promote it from stub class to start class. External links
[edit]I have just tidied up the external links a little, so that, as from November 14 2010, one of them will appear in hypertext. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 21:50, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I believe this is the talk page for the article on Kosuke Koyama at the WikiProject group for Christianity. As the creator of this page, what I would most like to see is a more comprehensive reference to ALL of Koyama's works, not just the current focus on "No Handle on the Cross". Perhaps there could even be references in separate article to books such as "Waterbuffalo Theology" or "Three mile an Hour God". Just drop a line on my userpage if you have comments, ACEOREVIVED (talk) 21:20, 20 May 2009 (UTC) |
