List
Removed the following comments and list. What is this list? It seems to identify modern Kongu Nadu with the ancient Ganga territories.
Today's Kongunadu is politically weak though economically strong resulting in exploitation by outsiders. The region ruled by these kingdoms was known as the land of the Gangas (Kongus), by the last dynasty where native Gounders ruled, the language Gangee Tamil (Kongu Tamil) (Wilkins, History of Mysore) is spoken here. The information we get about these three states is mainly based on Tamil literature also called the 'Sangam literature'*1 and Kongudesarajakkal.

- I guess above said reasons are non-realistic and gives more emphasis on Gounders, rather than broader humanity. As per reports Erode/Comibatore/Namakkal/Tirupur are more richer than any other places in TamilNadu and there is no vaild reason to create a seperate Kongu Nadu. What ever move towards KonguNadu is a pure political move by powerful Gounders in the area who talks tales of Cheras and Cholas who ruled the whole southern country 2000 years ago and same has no relevance to local population in recent years.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.221.133.211 (talk • contribs) 2010-01-21T10:53:38 (UTC)
Controversies in Claims of Kongu Nadu
The reasons quoted non-realistic and gives more emphasis on Gounders, rather than broader humanity. As per reports Erode/Comibatore/Namakkal/Tirupur are more richer than any other places in Tamil Nadu and there is no valid reason to create a seperate Kongu Nadu. - Dr.The Maurya Emperor, Asoka’s mention of two groups of people, the Kerala-putras and Satya-putras and refer to them as falling outside his territory and this would show they were in the Chera-Kongu region well before third cent. BCE. The earliest available Tamil literature ascribable to the beginning of the Current era, mentions a number these sub-castes like Korrantai, Sattantai, Kannantai, Antuvan, Vannakkan and others, that show they were already well settled in this region long before that time. The earliest reference to generations of Chera kings are found in the Kongu Country at Pugalur (Arnattar-malai ). Their Capital was the modern Karur which was well within the Kongu country. by R. One can create link with the help of money.vellalars were reffered in inscriptions only after the period of velir kings.the worked under the rule of vettuva kings. its a shame to them now, so only they are changing the history with money. they dont have a history. all those things they claim are fake.
- plese give the kings detail about the kongu vellalars? you cannot claim the word kongu for your history. if you use kongu as your reference please be carefull about the time period that you came in to the kongu, so that you wont be caught.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.99.194.37 (talk • contribs) 2011-10-01T16:19:54 (UTC)

- The Velir were a royal house of minor dynastic kings and aristocratic chieftains in Tamilakam in the early historic period of South India. They were vassals and rivals of the Ventars (Chera, Chola and Pandya kings). They had close relations with them through marriages and coronation rights. vellalan(1.Kudiyanavan(another name of vellala) means vellala's are Settled or emigrated by ancient king's. 2.Vellala means one the group who is learned agriculture from ancient people.) So no way to match velir with vellalar. Velir- Chieftain also a Philanthropist. Vellalan- One of the agricultural people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gobugounder (talk • contribs) 09:56, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
kongu Vellalars(Gounders), a high/dominant caste
The History of ancient Kongunadu is linked invariably to the history of Kongu Vellalars(Gounders), a high/dominant caste of Tamil feudal lords and landlords.

Chera Nadu IS NOT Kongu Nadu; or vice versa
I am sorry but what IDIOT has confused Chera and Kongu Nadu? They are different. While as the citations show the Cheras did come from Kongu. But Chera Nadu is what is today Kerala. If you want citations for this go see Kerala. Its an obvious fact for anyone with the slightest clue about Tamil history. So I am going to clarify this.--Avedeus (talk) 13:51, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

this does not have any inclusion of caste like gounders or others..!!
The main reason behind the raising proposal of new kongu nadu region is that..
- negligence of infrastructure development towards kongu nadu.
- high yielding income is not used for this region people.
- all announced projects were cancelled and no new projects were designed. especially in metropolis like coimbatore.
- no special attention is given to this region.
- people's demand is on increase whereas nothing is granted by government of tamil nadu.
- major city coimbatore has no projects and proposed remains proposed or cancelled.
eg: metro /mono rail project, gandhipuram three tier bridge, world class university, semmozhi park, other bridges, ring roads, extension of airport, etc....,
- power cuts upto 12-16 hours whereas chennai has a one hour power cut.
- nearly 45% of income of tamil nadu is poured out by kongu nadu and none return back.
- salem being a corporation has worst road transportation infrastructure .
AND STILL DO YOU THINK DEMAND FOR KONGU NADU IS NEGLIGIBLE??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.241.76.57 (talk) 16:21, 22 April 2013 (UTC) Barathss (talk) 16:34, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

- The name ‘Kongu’ litrally means honey and pollens. Kongunadu is full of mountains and so more amount of honey will be collected. It is believed as the reason for the name Kongunadu. The Ganga Vamsa King Konganivarman ruled this region by keeping ‘Thalaikaadu’ as his konagar. It is also said that the name Kongunadu came after the King’s name. The Vettuvars are said as the “Poorvakudigal” (Tamil:பூர்வகுடிகள்) and “Aathikudigal” (Tamil: ஆதிகுடிகள்) of the Kongunadu and they were called as the ‘Kongars’(Tamil:கொங்கர்) (Vettuvars). They are known for their bravery, generosity and devotion. The Kongunadu is always said for its history and heritage. The now kovai district, namakkal district, erode district, some parts of dindugal district, nearly whole region of karur and salem districts are the regions of ancient Kongunadu. The history of Kongunadu begins from 3 AD itself. The ‘Kongu mandala sathagam,’, ‘Cholan poorva pattayam’, ‘Vettuvar poorva pattayam’, ‘Oothalar kuravanji’, ‘Annamar swamy stories’, ‘Mackenzie’s manuscripts’ only shows the later history of Kongunadu. The Sanga period Kongunadu’s history is evident from the Sanga tamil literatures which depicts the Vettuvars as the ‘Poorvakudigal’ and ‘Aathikudigal’ literally meaning the ‘early society’.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 43.227.135.98 (talk • contribs) 2018-05-19T22:46:28 (UTC)
Aspirant statehood ?
No authentic information for separate statehood claim for Kongu Nadu.. It's purely a region of Tamil Nadu. If any reference is available please cite it. Sobanbabu.b (talk) 19:37, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
- It has to be a region of a state to aspire for statehood. "Purely", "Authentic" are all adjectives you use and what you need is credible references for it. References are within the article only if you have cared to look. E.g. India may have 50 states if all demands for new states are met. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 17:08, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
