Yu-Gi-oh
[edit]I've noticed that yu-gi-oh is only a video game francise even though it is (was) a popular trading card series, so can some one add that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.83.117.135 (talk) 04:16, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
Toilet papger
[edit]I've seen Konami brand toilet paper before. No relation? Another thing, apparently Konami had the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh? That's a big coincidince,oh Konami also makes makes many other interesting health care stuff(psych).
- Yeah i was reading and i was wondering why it only said "Yu-gi-oh franchise (video games)" under productions and nothing else. Konami licenses both the video games and cards. definatly needs to updated or something. EvilHom3r 20:35, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I want to add the number of employees (4,393), but when I preview it, it doesn't show up in the infobox. Thunderbrand 15:49, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)
- They took that field out of the infobox. You can add it if you want in case they decide to add that field back in. I was going to do it yesterday, when I noticed this as well. K1Bond007 16:56, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)
Is it a good idea that we disperse info about employees like that,I think it's plagarism
Apologies
[edit]I added a fairly substantial section on the Konami/Ultra/Palcom relationship which was misleadingly tagged as minor by mistake (my mouse slipped :-) ). Just wanted to apologize to everyone who has their watchlist set to ignore minor edits and can't figure out why the page has changed so much. – Seancdaug 05:01, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)

Konami Computer Entertainment Japan/Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo to Konami Merger
[edit]The Konami Computer Entertainment Japan (KCEJ) and Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCET) articles are pretty much duplicates of the Konami article and therefore I believe that any information in the KCEJ and KCET articles that is not covered in the Konami article should be merged into the Konami article. I will wait for a week or two before performing the merger and I would like to hear your opinion on the matter. If you have any suggestions or feedback in general simply post it below. --cheese-cube 03:13, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

- Apologies, but I went ahead and did the merger as it appears to be supported and it's been over a month :> It possibly needs a little cleaning up. Marasmusine 08:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Konami School
[edit]I just found out that Konami has a school for teaching how to make videogames.
Why there is no info about this?
- The article is a mess as it is. It will have to be in a separate wiki, listed as a division of Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (which is currently just KDE now, and will be converted to separate KDE pages eventually) - Jacob Poon 03:11, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Leftovers from the merge
[edit]Following the merge from Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, this list of KCET properties is left over. It didn't seem appropriate to put it into the article, but perhaps a Category or List? Marasmusine 08:15, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

573?
[edit]Are you sure about the 573? Isn't 7 "sichi" and 3 "san" in Japanese? Mr100percent 04:52, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- 7 can be pronounced by either of "shichi", "nana" or "na" in Japanese. A number in Japanese has one or more pronunciations like kanji, so an abbreviation could be easily built by numbers. This manner is widely used in daily life of Japanese people for reading telephone number, license plate or things like that. 4649 (yo-ro-shi-ku, means thank you/regards) and 5963 (go-ku-ro-san, means that's tough) are some of the most popular abbreviations in Japan. Pronouncing "na" and "mi" is old style Japanese, so they are not usual and only used for making abbreviation in today. --Uiweo 04:11, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

anime doll/plushie
[edit]I have two anime doll or plushies or whatever they are called, on the tag it says (in japanese) "Tomomeki Memoriaru" (Tomomeki Memorial), I am wondering if anybody knows what this is. Also, it may say Tomonuki Memoriaru as the tag has some mold on it and I can tell whether the hiragana is 'me' or 'nu'... lol 24.129.237.34 (talk) 00:24, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Version 0.7 nomination
[edit]It would be nice to include this article in the release, because we are quite weak on "company" articles. However, I think the article needs strengthening before it can be included. I think the sourcing should be improved (very important for a corporate article), and the English could do with polishing as well, then I'd be happy to pass it for Version 0.7. Financial details
[edit]Why is Konami's financial detail written in Yen? This is an English article primarily used by people in the UK and North America and that sort of info should be in US Dollars not Yen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.136.23.107 (talk) 00:28, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- They're a Japanese company. Why would their finances be in dollars? Eeekster (talk) 00:36, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
He summed it up rather nicely in his first statement actually. "This is an English article primarily used by people in the UK and North America and that sort of info should be in US Dollars not Yen" 72.241.6.74 (talk) 19:56, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

KOE?
[edit]The third paragraph of the article twice refers to the company as "KOE" without describing why. The context discusses Australia, so if this refers to Konami of Europe, that is unstated and unclear. Some explanation seems appropriate. If I should raise this suggestion in a different way please tell me, as I am new to the Wikipedia community. Osukwm (talk) 16:13, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Article needs some serious work.
[edit]Konami is a pretty significant piece of video gaming history. This article has various issues, and is very poorly written. I'll try and see what I can do in my spare time, much help would be appreciated...
A lot of these sections should probably be lists, severely needs citations, is written is an inappropriate and overly positive tone for a wiki, and is poorly organized to boot. 173.197.176.165 (talk) 11:53, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- Seconded. The "Marketing" section, for example, is almost a dadaist work of art. It just witters on at bizarre length about inconsequential trivia. When I want to read about the marketing activities of an international corporation - particularly one whose marketing department has made some fascinating missteps - I do not want to read about how "573" sounds like "konami" in Japanese. 12.108.188.134 (talk) 19:13, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Movie production
[edit]Isn't the part about a castlevania movie just pure speculation? Without citing who it is that's even making this speculation, should it perhaps just be removed? 94.246.21.115 (talk) 11:39, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

No mention of abuse allegations?

Criticism section?
[edit]Would it be possible to add a criticism section to the article? There has been a lot of backlash against Konami lately in the gaming press, particularly among youtube pundits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.27.49.14 (talk) 23:24, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- Done ;) --Elephanthunter (talk) 05:18, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
- An anonymous IP recently blanked the entire criticism section with the comment "Undue weight". I want to point out that the criticism section only composes a small section of the article, and said criticism is not a minority view. Konami received substantial well-documented negative press after that event. I've reverted the edit, but I'm curious to hear arguments about how to make the criticism section more NPOV. --Elephanthunter (talk) 00:13, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
- The company didn't let one of its employees go to a particular ceremony one time. Why is this of any importance, in the scope of the company's 45-year history and 5,000 employees? That is certainly not demonstrated by the text or the cited sources, so I would agree with the IP. Toohool (talk) 02:40, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

- It does sound a little strange, I just don't see the importance. Wikipedia is not a newspaper. Toohool (talk) 04:33, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
- I'm... honestly unsure how to respond to that! What standard do you use for notability? --Elephanthunter (talk) 09:05, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
- It's not a matter of notability. What should be included in the article is what's important to the topic. This event happened. So what? It was over in two minutes. What effect will it have on Konami in 6 months? When someone is reading this article in 20 years, why would they need to know about this event? Maybe there is a good answer to this question, but I don't see it in the current text. Toohool (talk) 10:02, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

[edit]here is what i want the article to look like:
Konami Holdings Corporation (Japanese: 株式会社コナミホールディングス, Hepburn: Kabushikigaisha Konami Hōrudingusu, TYO: 9766 OTC Pink: KNMCY), commonly referred to as Konami, is a Japanese entertainment and gaming conglomerate. It operates as a product distributor (which produces and distributes trading cards, anime, tokusatsu, slot machines and arcade cabinets), video game developer and publisher company. Besides those, it has casinos around the world and also operates health and physical fitness clubs across Japan.
Konami is best known for their video games, including Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, Contra, Frogger, Gradius, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Suikoden and Pro Evolution Soccer. Additionally, Konami also owns Bemani, known for Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania, as well as the assets of former game developer Hudson Soft, known for Bomberman, Adventure Island, Bonk, Bloody Roar and Star Soldier. Konami is the twentieth-largest game company in the world by revenue.[1]
The company originated in 1969 as a jukebox rental and repair business in Toyonaka, Osaka, Japan, by Kagemasa Kōzuki, who remains the company's chairman. The name "Konami" (/koʊˈnɑːmi/; Japanese pronunciation: [koꜜnami]) is a portmanteau of the names Kagemasa Kozuki, Yoshinobu Nakama, and Tatsuo Miyasako.[2]
Konami is currently headquartered in Tokyo. In the United States, Konami manages its video game business from offices in El Segundo, California and its casino gaming business from offices in Paradise, Nevada. Its Australian gaming operations are located in Sydney. As of March 2016, it owns 21 consolidated subsidiaries around the world.[3]
the company has sparked controversies, including rumors of reduced video game development, canceling Silent Hills, moving into Slot machines as it's main focus, and it's poor Treatment of employees and ex-employees, most notionally, firing Video game designer Hideo Kojima.

- This kind of content is still not suitable for the lead, since it emphasizes the effects of single events over everything else in its long history. A separate section already exists. Lordtobi (✉) 10:04, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- My main problem with the summary provided by you, User:Jetcold0, is that you did not write using WP:WIKIVOICE and you include rumor-mill WP:SPECULATION. Some mention of Konami's video game business shift might be appropriate. The entire purpose of the summary is to reflect the article content. And as Lordtobi mentioned, the article covers this. It's actually a particularly well-covered and notable series of events in Konami's history that substantially changed Konami's video game division. Just try not to write like it's a tabloid. --Elephanthunter (talk) 01:26, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Additional Origin of Name
[edit]Although the name Konami may contain the first syllables of the names of the company's founders, it is also the name of a character in the story of the loyal 47 ronins, Konami, the daughter of Honzo. It is possible, as this story is very famous in Japan, that this inspired the ordering of the syllables to obtain this name. Quadibloc (talk) 15:00, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
