Suggested merge

[edit]

Shouldn't this article be merged with Via Traiana Nova as they are both the same? Thanks. Picomtn (talk) 10:39, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Checkingfax: Can you give me your thoughts as to if these two articles should be merged? Thanks. Picomtn (talk) 10:31, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Picomtn. I do not know. Wikipedia:Merging is a tedious, punctilious, manual procedure. You are off to a good start by creating this discussion. You should do the same on the other article's Talk page. Remember: all Wikipedia edits are copyrighted by the author of the edits so you must maintain attribution during a Merge. The wikilink above will walk you through it but the directions are confusing and contradictory. Be sure to be exact in your edit summaries when you copy/paste to make the merge. Include wikilinks in your Merge edit summaries. Make sure to Redirect the retired page to the "new" page. Redirects are really easy. You blank the retired page and replace it with:
#REDIRECT [[Page name of target]]
{{R from merge}}
Be sure to add an edit summary with proper copyright attribution.
Your Merge proposal above does not make it crystal clear which page would be retired and which page would be the new combined page.
Merges are hard because you have to blend the content and citations very carefully. Do not do a simple copy/paste overwrite. That is why it is referred to as a "manual process". Look in the edit history of the Talk pages and Article pages to find editors to reach out to regarding a proposed Merge. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 23:39, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Picomtn, have you looked at the deletion discussion linked above? The relation to Via T Nova was mentioned too. trespassers william (talk) 21:39, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
