Receptionist story

[edit]

Would be nice to include the story (if anyone can dig up the details and references) about the Maori recepionist? at Telecom? in the early 90's who was reprimanded for using this greeting. It has gone from 'funny/ethnic/political, to being "PC" or even just ordinary... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.167.249.253 (talk) 04:51, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Extraneous content

[edit]

All those other phrases have no business in an article about "kia ora"; they should be moved to List of English words of Maori origin or Māori influence on New Zealand English. Languagehat (talk) 13:12, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

kia ora koe

[edit]

In 6 years learning te reo Māori, I've never heard anyone say "kia ora koe" - kia ora kōrua/koutou are ok though Beware the sluagh (talk) 09:35, 15 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The "External Audio" link leads to an error page. A working alternative is https://tereomaori.tki.org.nz/content/download/552/3405/file/36_32K.mp3, taken from the german page version. LaKoon (talk) 19:41, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
