Wali Khan was a controversial politician, but when making a comment about his supposed traitorous leanings please try and back them by facts..hearsay is NOT fact. It goes without saying that he was disliked by many ..often only because of who his father was..but a fair debate should have references. Zak 13:22, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article on Wali Khan was a need esp when we are talking about the Pashtuns politics, may be he was controversial in some respect but who is perfect then around the world, he had never accept the premiership from the back doors, nevertheless he had also got many chances, always emphasized on the true democracy. I will recommend it for good article GA, which covers all of his life's major events so comprehensively. Haider 21:33, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA

[edit]

Nice work. I promoted it to GA, it seems like a good article and seems to be qualified for it --K a s h Talk | email 17:47, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Wiki Project Afgahnistan"

Why? He was a Pakistani citizen. And unlike his father he was a national figure. He was controversial for being a communist. Not for being an advocat of smaller provinces.

Wali Khan was never a communist. He was first and foremost a Pashtun nationalist. The Punjab-dominated Pakistan used the communist blame against him to gain Western sympathies in order to suppress Pashtun national movement struggling for Pashtun rights.

This article has a lot of problems.

  • POV use of freedom fighter in the lead
  • An inconsistent style. Many different date formats, variable ways of citing books and presenting book references, lack of isbns in some books, the guy is referred to as "Khan" and "Wali Khan" variably
  • Dubious use of photographs. Some photos that are clearly not 50+ years old (an old man picture is post 1957) tagged as PD, a FU pic without a rationale
  • Large parts of the article is unsourced, and some commentary is present.

Khan Abdul Wali KhanAbdul Wali Khan – Per WP:CONCISE and WP:COMMONNAME, as the mentioning of "Khan" twice makes it too long. Also, consistent with his father (Khan) Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and his brothers (Khan) Abdul Ghani Khan and (Khan) Abdul Ali Khan. Khestwol (talk) 15:31, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
