Merger proposal

[edit]

Is this the same person as Khaltmaagiin Battulga? Neegzistuoja (talk) 23:25, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

yes it is clearly the same person but with a slightly different spelling. The other page should be a redirect. I will edit it so that it redirects to this article. Domdeparis (talk) 13:22, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

He really just looks like a Taiwanese gangster in action maybe real Battulga got murdered almost I cannot take the genocide against the Mongols Battulga old and new are responsible for genocide against the entire Mongol people sworn to be protected by the Mongol constitution in Mongolia he has sworn it and instead perpetrated genocide against the whole Mongol people ; Mongolia does not exist to save Asian poors from execution at the end of it they are "Just Bad" I tried to have him described as such on the Wikipedia page but it was not accepted eventually it is just Some are More Equal than Others it was the same with my invention of parthenogenesis starting since infancy Inez Deborah Emilia Altar [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.108.109.76 (talk) 18:48, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Moveed as proposed. There is clear consensus to move the current page; there is some disagreement as to the appropriate target, but the majority of participants have not objected to the specific target proposed. bd2412 T 20:59, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Battulga KhaltmaaKhaltmaagiin Battulga – Mongolian naming conventions must be adhered to as, Khaltmaa is a patronymic, per Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(Mongolian) --chinneeb-talk 20:38, 17 June 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. Agreed. This should be a no brainer. Move it.--Batmacumba (talk) 00:50, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In a case where both names are in common use going by the correct form should be preferred. Common name isn't a helpful criteria when the distribution is fairly even.--Batmacumba (talk) 08:52, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Changing vote to Move to Khaltmaa Battulga. (struck my oppose above). Now that he has been inaugurated, a lot more English language news sources have coverage of him, and it is now very clear that they do swap the names around, from our current form, but they *do not* use the form "Khaltmaagiin". WP:COMMONNAME is therefore very clear, and it is "Khaltmaa Battulga". See [3] for Google news results, and every single link I can see on that page calle him "Khaltmaa Battulga". For example: Washington Post, Global Times, BBC NewsNY Times etc. The assertion that he is commonly called "Khaltmaagiin Battulga" ha not been shown by any of those supporting this move.Amakuru (talk) 11:24, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you care so much about "common name" in a case like this? No harm in going by the proper form rather than what ignorant journalists simplify it to. "Ambiguous or inaccurate names for the article subject, as determined in reliable sources, are often avoided even though they may be more frequently used by reliable sources". --Batmacumba (talk) 19:57, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's not me who cares, that's our policy. And we rely on reputable news sources (such as the BBC and NY Times, whom you so glibly accuse of being "ignorant") and books to determine that. In a borderline case, you might need to fall back on what the subject calls himself, or some other rules, but in this case it is not borderline. Practically all the sources say "Khaltmaa Battulga". Even if is really wrong to call him that (which I doubt), then it's still not up to us to "correct" it. We go by what reliable sources say, not what Wikipedia editors think is correct. See WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:01, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. According to the Mongolian naming conventions, the title must be moved.Sgsg (talk) 03:39, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Presidency

[edit]

Since he recently won the elections, perhaps a separate subsection (within the main article itself though, as a paragraph), could be added about what he is doing as politican. From an objective point of view. 2A02:8388:1602:A780:BE5F:F4FF:FECD:7CB2 (talk) 14:38, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Very true. This article is in need of quite a major update to bring it up to date with latest developments!  — Amakuru (talk) 12:10, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
