Dates?

the dates given on britannica and in the book for the mosul revolt don't correspond, there's about a 10 year difference - does anyone have an idea of how to explain? flammifer^talk 17:11, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

    • There exists no article, and I am not sure one will ever exist, it would be covered in the article on Balkh.

    • the shortest would be 'non-Arab convert to Islam associated with an Arab tribe', which isn't very short. Have added only 'client', which isn't very accurate, but gives enough context.
• Abbasid revolution:
  • "Soon after, both" soon after what though?
    • Have tried to clarify. The dates are unclear here, but if they came to the court in ca. 725, and Barmak went to Gurgan in ca. 725/6, they did not stay very long.
  • Okay, it's odd to say that Barmak disappears from the record and then the next sentence be that Barmak arranged a marriage. Suggest flipping these sentences.

• First hook is interesting to me. ALT1, not so much.

• QPQ has been done. Re NPOV, the article lead has "repeatedly distinguished himself for his fairness" (bold added by me for emphasis here) but the article only seem to mention his fairness in respect of edistributing the land tax (kharaj) of Khurasan; there's a later mention of "governing with wisdom and generosity" but that doesn't seem to me quite the same as fairness. Thanks for your work on the article, Cplakidas; let me know when you've fixed the Abbas ref and about my NPOV question. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 23:28, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

    • Thanks, Constantine. I see " Abbas 1988. sfn error: no target: CITEREFAbbas1988 (help)" in the references section, footnote 4, with a link to the relevant help page.       • I also have the scripts, but don't see anything. Either way, Abbas 1988 quite obviously exists, and when clicking on the ref, it directs me to the correct source.         • Constantine, I tried the page when logged out and no error shows. I think the error message i'm getting may be because the "1988" doesn't appear in the source when you look at what's there, but displays on the page from the Encyclopaedia Iranica template used.
